    #BumpThis: Rudeboy’s “Take It”

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

    Rudeboy — “Take It”

Since the unfortunate P-Square split, Rudeboy has proven himself to be the more gifted twin, delivering solo hit after solo hit. His latest effort, “Take It” indicates that 2020 won’t be any different.

On the Chris Strings-produced track, Rudeboy sings about a woman who has complete control of his heart. He promises to give her anything she wants, from his money to his devotion.

Rudeboy seems to have cornered the market on unabashedly corny and relentlessly catchy love songs, and with the delightful, albeit slightly overlong, “Take It”, he proves the recipe is far from stale.

  • The Ultimate Nigerian Wedding Playlist

What’s not to love about Nigerian weddings. There is always free food, free booze, and good vibes. What I particularly love about Nigerian weddings is the music and in my opinion, no Nigerian wedding playlist can be complete without these songs.

No One Like You – P Square

The video alone is enough reason to add this song to your wedding playlist.

    Wedding Day – 9ice

This song was made for Nigerian weddings.

    Oruka – Sunny Nneji

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxGkcYbvZU8
I can remember how this song got played at every Nigerian wedding for years after this hit song was dropped.

    Ada Ada – Flavour

Picking just one Flavour song to add to this list was hard. Every Flavour song is perfect for your wedding playlist.

    Baby Girl – Nel Oliver

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqzBFXa2js0
Here’s a classic for you. Nel Oliver’s ‘Baby Girl’ is evergreen.

    Olomi – Tosin Martins

If you understand Yoruba then you don’t need to be convinced to add this song to your wedding playlist.

    Forever – Paul Play

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHaB2YGpDWg
Because it’s your wedding day and you and your partner plan to be together forever.

Baby Jowo(remix) – Sir Victor Olaiya ft 2face

It was hard picking between the remix of this classic song and the original, in the end, 2face’s unique addition to the song won us over.

    Be Your Man – Dipo

Dipo might not be as popular as the other artists on this list, but ‘Be Your Man’ makes for the most perfect love song ever.

    Ololufe – Wande Coal

Its been 9 years since Wande Coal dropped Ololufe (yes you are old) but its still hard to imagine a Nigerian wedding playlist without it.

    My Darling – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage’s voice is at its finest in ‘My Darling’ and we can bet you the lyrics perfectly convey everything you feel about your husband/wife-to-be.

    Ekuro – Davido

From Ekuro to Aye to If to Fall Davido keeps dropping the most perfect wedding playlist songs.

Love Me Jeje – Seyi Sodimu

You already know there was no way we could have left this classic of our list.

    Obianuju – Duncan Mighty

This is almost every Nigerian’s favorite Duncan Mighty song and also the sweetest love song for those who might not understand all of the lyrics.

    Orente – Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold’s Orente always has we single pringles clutching to our pillows at night wondering when the Lord will give us our own bae.

    Iyawo Mi – Timi Dakolo

Fun fact- Timi Dakolo wrote this song for his wife.

Did we leave any song out?

  • YNaija Dragged P Square’s Paul Okoye But We’re Only Here For The Shade

YNaija Dragged P Square’s Paul Okoye But We’re Only Here For The Shade
Truth be told, new ideas are usually built on older ones these days. Nigerian musicians are great at copying sampling , that’s why Wizkid probably sampled S7ven in Holla At Your Boy while P Square served us Fugees-inspiredBizzy Body.

In May 2016, Paul Okoye from P Square directed and featured in a video titled Slow Slow.

But the guys at YNaija felt he copied Rihanna’s Work dance-hall music video.

    And dragged him for it.

Paul didn’t take it lightly and went on full blast in their comments section. He even said they will never be as big as Linda Ikeji.

YNaija continued to be petty and threw more shade at him in their next post.

This is another case of two people fighting but it reminds us of Wizkid and Linda’s rofo rofo fight.

Although P Square’s total body of work is almost always based on ‘sampled songs’, and YNaija are just looking for trouble…

They’ll both be alright in the end jare.

  • Please, Is P-Square Back Together?!

    Please, Is P-Square Back Together?!
A lot of us were beyond heartbroken when it looked like the music duo had broken up. With all the drama and shade they were throwing at each other, and he said, they said, it certainly looked like they had done enough damage and had gone past the point of no return. In spite of this, fans were doing all they could for them to get back together.

Like this really passionate fan that cried her eyes out.

And this girl who couldn’t read for her exams, thanks to P-Square.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X5dMRiWEdg

Just when we thought all hope was lost, we saw this picture on Peter’s timeline on the 19th of March.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BDILQKRysHy/?taken-by=peterpsquare&hl=en
He said, “Psquare live in Rotterdam Netherland Saturday 26th March. Be there or be squared. It’s Gonna rock!@palmundoworld #festival“. We were just looking, because this wasn’t the first time we heard that they had reconciled, only for them to turn around and be like they’re two, not one. They had stretched our hearts way past its elastic capacity.

But then, Paul posted it on his own page three days later!

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BDO370PRvtc/?taken-by=rudeboypsquare&hl=en
He wrote, “We are there live!!!! Rotterdam Netherlands on da 26th March @palmundofestival“. We began to have hope again.

Then they posted this within the same hour.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BDOxmQSSsLP/?taken-by=peterpsquare&hl=en
That it took our stupidity to realize that FAMILY comes first, We are VERY SORRY“.

Yes!!! Now all’s right with the world!

We pray that this bromance will never end! Amen! [zkk_poll post=25090 poll=content_block_standard_format_7]
  • What All P-Square Fans Were Afraid Of Has Happened! They’ve Gone Solo!

What All P-Square Fans Were Afraid Of Has Happened! They’ve Gone Solo!
First, the music duo fired their manager, who is also their brother. Then they split because of the same family drama.

Now to cement that they’re not joking, Peter dropped his first solo single on March 8.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMroyGYqQ8A
The song is about his swag and how people wants to know how he does his thing. You know, the usual danceable song.

Peter also has a new name. It’s Mr P!

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BC-KvRGysBh/

Paul Okoye dropped his own single seven days later.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0E69RJOPPM
Paul aka Rudeboy, pours out his heart in this song “Call Heaven“. In it, he expresses his feelings about the ongoing drama.

Paul also posted this photo of his mum on Instagram.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BC6-J2Yxvkv/

In his song, Paul remembers the promise he made to his mum. And he wished both his parents were still alive.

In the meantime, Peter now has a new manager.

His name is Olatunde Michael. He was previously the Head of Channel at Soundcity, as well as a Station Manager for Trace TV Nigeria.

Man! They seem to be saying “Up yours” to each other.

The situation looks final too! Things will never remain the same.

  • There’s Trouble Brewing In The P-Square Paradise

There’s Trouble Brewing In The P-Square Paradise
If you’re a fan of P-Square, you’d have noticed that there’s been trouble in the business for some time. No one knew exactly what was wrong, but some of us wondered if the music duo, were breaking up.
    https://twitter.com/King_Wgw/status/696822691505053696
But now, it’s emerged that the trouble isn’t with P-Square, but with their management, Northside Entertainment.

And who is their manager? Their senior brother, Jude Engees Okoye, of course.

In a series of tweets, Peter Okoye, the dancer in the group shared his frustrations.

He also said that P-Square has no contract with the management.

To those doubting if he was actually the one tweeting, he replied:

Some fans tried to settle the matter, but it didn’t work.

Well, Jude didn’t keep quiet of course – after he was subtweeted by Subdelivery Man.

    https://twitter.com/SubDeliveryMan/status/699752085055795201
    LMAO at the “pdf file”!
    https://twitter.com/judeengees/status/699853594015698945
According to Jude, Peter has been going through a lot lately.

Could he be talking about this?

    Jude continued:

    https://twitter.com/judeengees/status/699854033314582532
Heh, what could he possibly mean?

    Peter replied:

He went on to debunk the story that Jude sold his car to help their career.

Meanwhile, all this time, Paul kept quiet. Then he shared this on Instagram:

He was against Peter’s decision to share their family matter on social media.

Peter who wasn’t expecting this replied to the post:

    And share these not-so-cryptic tweets:

    Then he outright said:

Peter then revealed the reason behind the family feud to be Cynthia Morgan, the reggae-dancehall songstress.

    He said:

We sincerely hope that this gets resolved soon and that P-Square stays together.

  • Check Out These Moroccan Remixes To Popular Naija Songs

Check Out These Moroccan Remixes To Popular Naija Songs

What happens when Naija music gets a Middle Eastern twist to it?

A Moroccan parody channel, Barbapappa shared videos of a group that make the coolest remixes of Naija songs.

To mix things up the guys sing in Darija, which is a Moroccan derivation of Arabic, and also use Gnawi instruments to modify the beat of the songs. We have compiled some of their videos but you can find more on Barbapappa’s Facebook and Youtube pages.

Their version of P Square’s “Shekini” titled “Hek Lili Nifi”.

Their own version of Runtown’s “Gallardo” called “Wili wili wili”.

These Moroccan guys also created a remix of South African artist, Mafikizolo’s “Khona” parodied as “Khouna kijak lfoul”.
