  • #BumpThis: Lady Donli’s “Wonda Wonda” & Jinmi Abduls’ “Aya”

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Lady Donli — “Wonda Wonda” ft. DarkoVibes

Last year, Lady Donli dropped Enjoy Your Life — one of the most accomplished Nigerian debuts of the past decade — and now she’s back with her first single of 2020, “Wonda Wonda”.

On the impressive track, Lady Donli’s hypnotic voice glides effortlessly over Kuvie’s exceptional production work. She’s joined by skilled Ghanaian star, DarkoVibes, who delivers an expectedly stellar verse.

Jinmi Abduls — “Aya” ft. TMXO

With every new release, Jinmi Abduls reintroduces himself as one of the most dynamic (and criminally underrated) Nigerian artists working today, and his latest effort, “Aya”, is no different.

Brilliantly produced by TMXO — one of 2020’s hardest-working beatsmiths — “Aya” finds Jinmi singing about how much he wants to show off his lover. It’s easily one of the year’s sweetest love songs.

  • #BumpThis: Jinmi Abduls & Yusufkanbai’s “Kryptonite”

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Ejoya’s compilation album, Class of ’20 Vol. 1 is a stunning celebration of some of the most talented up-and-comers working today, with particularly great work from stars like Buju, D-Truce and Mojo.

While pretty much every song on the project excels to some degree, the standout track has to be the devilishly sultry “Kryptonite”, helmed by Jinmi Abduls and Yusufkanbai.

On the fantastic track, both artists sing about being hypnotised by a stunning woman. While Jinmi Abduls is expectedly fantastic, the true find here is the boundlessly charismatic Yusufkanbai.

  • #BumpThis: Jinmi Abduls & Atawewe’s “Show Me”

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

Jinmi Abduls, Atawewe — “Show Me”

Even though love is the most popular subject amongst Nigerian artists, we rarely get proper duets that focus on the emotion. Thankfully, Jinmi Abduls and Atawewe are here to fill that hole with “Show Me”.

On the hypnotic track, Jinmi Abduls and Atawewe sing about how our generation expresses love. While Jinmi would rather keep his relationship away from prying eyes, Atawewe seeks a love that’s loud and public.

Both stars, who are not yet household names, deliver truly stunning performances, indicating that they should really be on everyone’s radar this year, especially the soulful Atawewe.
