ICYMI: Jameson Distillery on Tour (JDOT) Wowed Lagos With an Epic Experience, Leaving Us Longing for More!

For eight electrifying days, the Jameson Distillery on Tour (JDOT) mesmerized whiskey enthusiasts in Lagos, delivering an immersive and enjoyable Jameson experience reminiscent of a trip to Jameson’s Dublin home – the iconic Bow Street Distillery.

Held at Fidelity Grounds Oniru from September 29th to October 8th, Jameson Irish Whiskey treated guests to a thrilling lineup of daily events, sparking connections and encouraging all to #WidenTheCircle.

JDOT was a vibrant mix of experiences, featuring an immersive journey through the distillery, live musical gigs, tantalizing Jameson cocktails, whiskey tastings, a merchandise store, chic fashion pop-ups, gourmet delights, larger-than-life games, discounted grooming services, and so much more. The event aimed to educate consumers about the rich story behind each bottle of triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey while immersing them in activities tailored to every taste.

It all kicked off with an exclusive opening night on September 29, where attendees, from influencers to OAPs, were treated to the opening tour of JDOT. This provided them with insights into the remarkable 243-year journey and process that makes Jameson the unique and beloved brand it is worldwide.

The days that followed brought a DJ-led experience hosted by Culture Custodian, a high-energy Mainland Block Party that not even the rain could dampen, and mouthwatering cuisine with Brunch Out. A short break on October 3rd and 4th allowed everyone to catch their breath before diving back into the excitement for the final 4 days.

Live music stole the spotlight on the fifth day of JDOT as guests delved into the legendary production of Jameson’s triple-distilled whiskey. The vibe continued on the sixth day, where Made Kuti’s closing act at Afrovibes left everyone buzzing long after the night had wrapped up.

Kewa’s Kitchen was a gastronomic haven, allowing guests to pair Jameson’s signature cocktails with gourmet food, immersing them in the brand’s essence and heritage.

The grand finale was brought by the Vogue Boys, injecting the event with their energetic vibe, marking not just the end of JDOT but also bidding summer farewell.

“We curated an extraordinary event over the past few days,” said Bodam Taiwo, the Head of Portfolio – Bond & Connect Pernod Ricard. “JDOT was more than a festival: it was a feeling, a vibe, a place where music, fashion, food, and friends converged in a legendary way. We’re ecstatic that our guests got to truly experience the essence of the Jameson brand, were entertained, and widened their circle. JDOT has left us with cherished memories and a countdown on our calendars to next year’s epic rendezvous.”

  • If You Missed Any of These Jameson Events, Sorry To You

If You Missed Any of These Jameson Events, Sorry To You

April was a month of back-to-back events and we have Jameson to thank for it. They were everywhere, every weekend. From sponsoring concert festivals and intimate music events to providing signature JSL cocktails at gourmet food and fashion pop-ups. Jameson partnered with multiple platforms and brands to make sure that spaces that aligned with their passion points were covered.

The goal of this month-long campaign was to celebrate the “Alte” culture, which describes a lifestyle of staying true to yourself and not conforming to the rules of the mainstream.

Here are the events that happened during Alte April:

    Brunch Out with FOMO:

Is there really anything better than sipping cocktails and eating small chops? The correct answer is no. Jameson teamed up with FOMO Lagos to give us the chance to eat puff and more, and gist with friends. There was whiskey pong, foosball, Jenga, and great music. It was amazing.

    Alte Culture Fest

Alte Culture Fest was a night of music, fashion, and the freedom of self-expression that the Alte movement is proudly known for. Seeing artists like Wurld, Pretty Boy D-O, Wavy the Creator, Lady Donli, Falana, etc. was the highlight of the night.

    Homecoming:

Jameson got us lit over the Easter weekend with the comeback of Homecoming. Asides the never-ending drinks at the bars and the street wear pop-ups, there was also the live music show. There were performances from Central Cee, Arrdee, Black Sherif, Teezee, Rema, BOJ, BNXN, Asake, and Fave.Honestly, if you missed it, we’re truly sorry.

    A Night with Made Kuti

We partied with Made Kuti on the mainland at the legendary African Shrine. Made and his band gave us amazing live music. And Lojay showed up to remind us that once again, his own Monalisa is superior.

Around the World with the AJs:

Next, the chef duo — Ajoke and Ajemina — gave us a picnic that we’ll never forget. Through their food, they took us to Japan, Nigeria, America, Jamaica, and Mexico.  The food was so much , people wanted to go back for more, but there was no space in their stomachs. As for drinks, Jameson came through as always with the cocktails.

    Gbagada Express Listening Party

BOJ (one of the founding fathers of the Alte movement) released an album called Gbagada Express, and he invited fans, family, and friends to listen to it. There were two parties, one in Lagos and one at a secret location in Accra. Honestly, with how good the album is, it deserves as many listening events as possible. And Jameson sponsored listening parties are always too much fun. And we’re not just saying that because they bring the drinks.

Arrested by Love Limited Edition Bottle Release:

To celebrate his latest EP, “Arrested by Love,” Jameson globally recognised Teezee by exclusively producing a limited-edition bottle that was designed with his tracklist. (God when). Teezee—a Jameson brand ambassador —also hosted a listening party for this EP launch, and it was lit.

Jameson remains one of the foremost supporters of the Alte movement in Nigeria and is proud of how far some of its creators, such as Teezee, Boj, and the host of many outstanding individuals within the community, have come today.

Indeed, Jameson’s Alte April will go down in the books as a month of pure, alternative vibes! As the movement continues to flourish, Jameson is excited to continue to support the journey. We are counting down till the next experience. Until next year…

  • Celebrating The Freedom To Be You: Sheye Banks And Mobola Tells Us How They Became Independent

Celebrating The Freedom To Be You: Sheye Banks And Mobola Tells Us How They Became Independent

The path to becoming a creative in Nigeria isn’t easy. There are many factors that prevent young people from being their authentic selves; the biggest of all being our straitjacketed society. But what happens when one breaks free and begins to live life on their own terms? Being you is a huge feat; a fact Jameson Irish Whiskey aims to bring to the fore by celebrating the freedom to be you.

We spoke to Sheye Banks of Soundcity and Mobola Awe of FOMO Lagos about how they found their voices and gained their independence to become who they are today.

    Sheye Banks

How did you get started as an On-Air Personality?

It started off with me being very angry — angry about the government, human rights abuses, and the general state of things in Nigeria. I just wanted to make a difference. Along the way, I found my purpose in being a radio presenter.

    How?

I took a break from school and went to the UK for a gap year. I went to visit a relative in the hospital one day and stumbled on a radio station. I heard the hosts of the show talking and I just fell in love with it. Immediately after I came back to Nigeria, I joined my school’s radio station, UNILAG FM.

Was it smooth or did you face some challenges along the way?

Oh, I did. My parents weren’t on board in the beginning. They were confused about why I wanted to become an OAP after spending so much money on my education studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Lagos, even after I spent more years in school than I should have.

After University, I joined a radio station in Abuja but was getting paid peanuts, even after 6 years on the job. And my parents hated this.

It was at the point I had to put my foot down and find my independence I insisted that this was what I wanted to do with my life, and they had no choice but to respect my decision. After my time at the radio station in Abuja, I came back to Lagos and that’s where my career really began to kick off.

I also had to have hard conversations with myself. I knew that even though I was doing radio, I needed to do other things on the side before it took off. Now, aside from being an OAP, I’m a hype man, music executive, A & R, a multimedia entrepreneur, and many other things. All of this wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t decide to make independent decisions and remain in the radio industry.

That’s inspiring. It seems like you were determined from the start.

Yes, but like everyone, I had my doubts when things weren’t going well. I went from wanting to be an aeronautical engineer to studying mathematics and statistics. At some point, I even wanted to be a motivational speaker because I spoke in church as a child. But radio was where I found my independence and my purpose. It was the first time I decided what I wanted for myself and went for it. I wasn’t doing it for the money. I was just very passionate about it, which I stuck with even when I wasn’t getting paid.

Do you have any words for younger people trying to live their most authentic lives and going after what they want?

The most important thing is to be yourself. We’re called On-Air Personalities for a reason – because your personality and your true self is the most important thing. It is crucial to be yourself in a way you can be proud of. Express yourself knowing you have a purpose and vision. Work towards greatness, and above all, be free. The sky’s the limit so don’t let anybody put you in a box. Consistency is far better than speed. When it’s time, it’ll pay off. This is why I identify with Jameson because I’m all for living authentically.

    Mobola:

How did you get started with FOMO Lagos?

When I moved back to Lagos in 2013 after uni, I figured there were a lot of activities to do in Lagos, but people seemed stuck on dining and clubbing. So, I went out of my way to find something different I could do in Lagos. My friends knew I was the go-to person when they wanted to do something different and that’s how I started FOMO Lagos, a page where I curate fun activities people can do while in the city. In a few months, the page developed a large following.

Was this what you always planned to do?

Nah! I studied civil engineering and practised it for two years, but my soul wasn’t in it.

Did you face any difficulties with your decision to start FOMO Lagos?

My parents were not pleased that I was focusing my efforts on FOMO Lagos, which led to my dad not speaking to me for a long time. But I knew I just had to break free and do this for me because it was what I wanted. I wanted to live my truth. Since I was little, I’ve always been a rebel. I chase whatever I want with my full strength so when they saw how passionate I was about it, they came around.

That’s admirable. What do you do for fun?

I enjoy listening to music and painting. I even wanted to be a DJ at some point, but for now, I’ll stick to making playlists, LMAO! I always tell young people that the fear that you’re not on the right path will always be there, but you have to learn to live with it. That’s no reason to stop. Also, just do what your gut tells you because that’s the real you.

  • 8 Things Jameson’s All Connect Taught Me About Lagos and Partying

8 Things Jameson’s All Connect Taught Me About Lagos and Partying

Lagos is a wild place, but to get the entire Lagos experience, you need to attend a party, concert, rave, whatever. Before you do, here are some important things to note.

    Lagosians will always be late

If they say an event starts at 6 p.m., get there at 10 p.m. If not, you’ll go and wait. Even if the stage, sound and venue are ready, the show won’t kick off until the whole place is packed with people.

Alté fashion is the in thing

From coloured hair to leather skirts, halter neck tops, denim overalls and high-heeled boots, nothing screams main character like alté fashion. And since the goal is to dress like you’re going to see your ex (because you probably would), it’s a no-brainer.

    There’s food at home

Before you go to any party, eat at home, especially if you plan to drink all night. You’d want to fill up with the rice at home so you don’t end up spending ₦5k on a basic burger.

    Pre-gaming is key

You know, a little shot to prep you for the day’s party. In our opinion, that’s what Jameson’s free cocktail was created for. One cocktail later, and you’ll see the quiet guy who was sitting in the corner bursting amapiano moves.

You’ll always run into someone you know

Whether it’s friends, acquaintances or people you follow online, just know you’ll see someone you know. At Jameson’s All Connect, I met my whole non-blood-related family there.

    Indoor events are goated

With the frequent rain and floods in Lagos, y’all still attend outdoor events? Crazy. Because while people were complaining about the rain, we were busy vibing to Bella Shmurda’s performance.

    Good music is everything

Like Burna said, when the gbedu dey enter body, them go shake their body. One good DJ is great, but three? Forget it. And since Lagosians never get tired, they were ready to dance all night.

    Lagosians come alive at night

Half the Lagosians are either witches, live on their own or have no job. Because that’s the only reason why someone will show up wide-eyed and ready to party at 1 a.m on a Sunday night Monday morning.
