  • These Nigerian Idol Stars Really Had Us Captivated

    Timi Dakolo

He won the inaugural season of the Nigerian Idol in 2007, back when it was still called Idols West Africa. Since then, he’s dropped us hits like “Iyawo Mi” and “Wish Me Well”. We also don’t need to mention just how beautiful his voice is.

    Omawumi

Remember how Timi came first? Yeah, Omawumi came in close second and since then, she’s given us classic hits like Megbele and had us dancing Bottom Belle even though she’s never explained what it meant.

    Mercy Chinwo

We’re not joking when we say her voice can strike the fear of God in your heart. But that’s not all she’s known for. She also won the second season of the Nigerian Idol.

    Francis Atela

He may not have made it to the finals, but he was hot enough to get through the auditions and knockout stages two seasons in a row.

    Kingdom Kroseide

His story is  funny because he wasn’t among the initially selected ten contestants, but his audition was so good that they created an extra slot just for him, and he went on to win the grand prize. See what we’re talking about.

    Progress Chukwuyem

He’s only the latest winner of the Nigerian Idol, but he’s disturbing the Afrobeats scene already.

    Then… there’s Season 8

We’ve been wondering who the next person to enter this hall of fame would be. There’s Goodness, who performed “We Found Love” by Rihanna and blew the audience away. There’s also Ose Daniel who’s already one of the top two voices on this season.

But why don’t you watch the show on GOtv and decide for yourself?

  • We Need Big Brother To Do These 8 Chaotic Things To Bring Extra Drama Into the #BBTitans House

The pilot season of Big Brother Titans started four weeks ago. Honestly, it should have come with a warning because Big Brother and his dual nationality children are already causing heart palpitations and giving us the best of everything. From K drama-style romance to Africa magic epic dramas, WWE fights, and love triangles Zee world would be jealous of, the titans are serving it all.

But because we are messy people, we need Big Brother to amp up the drama in his house and what better way to do it than with these eight things

    Movie night

Biggie, you know that we know that you know half your housemates want to fight each other. All we ask is that you be a nice big brother and let them sort their issues out. Make them dress up all nice and pretty, lay out light finger snacks and some hard liquor, then make them sit down and watch their conversations. We need Nelissa to hear what Thabang really thinks about her, Yaya has to see Marvin chatting about her from the corner of his mouth and Yemi Cregx needs to see Khosi’s numerous attempts to kiss Thabang.

    Split the house

You know what they say, divide and conquer, split the housemates according to their messiness and situationships. Move Kanaga, Yvonne and Miracle to a house without Juicy Jay and leave Tsatsii with Blaqboi and Marvin since they won’t stop thinking they have a chance with her. Big Brother take risk, take risk and succeed.

    Bring back old housemates

Biggie please bring back the people you’ve already let out of your house. By this, we mean Sandra and Mmeli, because Sandra’s promised to give Mmeli and Nelissa woto woto and that can’t happen outside your house, we want to see it.

    Ship diary sessions

What we need from Big Brother is to fuel the delusion in that house. People need to continue feeling like they’re in a proper triangle, and what better way to do this than for their big brother to acknowledge it.

    Bring in Khosi’s boyfriend

It’s a simple request; you don’t have to make it obvious. Bring in people for the other housemates too. As long as Khosi’s boyfriend comes in there, scatters everywhere and puts the fear of the Lord in Yemi Cregx and Miracle, we’ll be fine.

Switch up pairs and make them sleep on the same bed

Big brother, make Ipuleng and Juicy Jay a pair, give Yemi Cregx to Blue Aiva and watch the foundations of your house shake.

Give them all phones and show them one gossip tweet every week

We need Olivia to see this tweet so she can fully unleash on Blue Aiva and Thabang.

Go the purge on the housemates and allow anything for a day

As long as they leave their mics on and they don’t destroy your cameras, Biggie, please let them do as they wish. You might have to keep an ambulance on stand-by though, because, between Yemi Cregx and Miracle, and Khosi and Blue Aiva, somebody’s going to end up with a broken head.

Catch all the drama and chaos on GOtv Ch.29. You can also download the #MyGOtvApp and never miss a second of the messiness.

You can vote for your favourite architects of chaos from Mondays at 8 pm to Thursdays at 9pm. The higher your GOtv bouquet, the more chances you get to keep your fave in the house.

  • 4 EPL Teams You Have To Keep Up With This Season

The new English Premier League season is here. Your favourite team probably looks nothing like it did last season. All 20 teams in the league have done business to varying levels. While clubs like Manchester City have only made a few tweaks, Chelsea fans must be wondering how their boy scouts would reach the heights set by the Drogba and Hazard generations. That’s not even counting the new managers, like Lampard & Steve Bruce who have a big point to prove.

As usual, the heavyweights will likely be at the top when the season ends, but if you know the EPL, you know that any team has the potential to cause an upset.

It’s not always easy to keep up, but whatever you do, make sure you’re always keeping track of these four Premier League teams:

    Everton

Last time out, Everton stuttered under the new manager, Marco Silva before showing a few flashes of brilliance towards the end of the season. Many thought the Toffees board would show Silva the door during the break, but they’ve kept their trust in him and supported the ministry by nabbing two of the world’s most promising youngsters: Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean. I wouldn’t bet against them forcing their way into the top 6 this season.

    Chelsea

For more than a decade, Chelsea has been at the top of the EPL, and they’ve pulled it off mostly by signing who they want, thanks to their billionaire owner, Roman Abramovic.

This season, however, they are facing a ban on buying new players. Losing their best player, Eden Hazard now means they have to look inwards; they’ve already promoted many young prospects in Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham & Reece James.

Club legend Frank Lampard is also in charge of affairs. While their team looks considerably weaker on paper, don’t bet against them just yet. As they showed against Liverpool in the Super Cup, the boys in blue aren’t ready to give up their ‘big boy’ status just yet.

    Aston Villa

The Villains, as they are also called, are Premier League regulars, although, in the last few seasons, they’ve struggled to leave their mark and cement their place. After a tough season in the Championship, Aston Villa is back at the upper echelons. This time, they look like the real deal. They’ve made some good signings and built a team around the gifted Jack Grealish, a player many have tipped to be a future England captain. You don’t want to bet against these guys.

    Leicester

You can’t school a Leicester fan on success or failure. They’ve tasted both, most notably winning the EPL against all odds four seasons ago. Since then, things haven’t been great – they lost their club owner in a helicopter accident and their best player, Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City’s petrodollars. But if there’s ever a time to start rebuilding, it’s now. For me, Leicester has one of the best managers, Brendan Rodgers. And while he may not have the team he had years ago at Liverpool, he has a fine balance of experience and gifted young players. The Scot is eager to prove his worth and whether he does or not, Leicester will play some exciting football this season.

As much as we love the EPL, even the most loyal fans struggle to keep up with the teams they support. Match times are irregular AF, and as you know, man proposes, but PHCN, NNPC and the weather can have different plans.

That’s what GOtv had on their minds when they came up with the new GOtv app. With it, you can keep up with these teams on the go, and even set reminders so you don’t miss anything. It really doesn’t get better than this.

  • Bet You Didn’t Know The GOtv App Could Do All Of These.

Who else is having a great September? Salaries just got paid, times are looking good you know.

What if we told you there could be an extra layer of icing on this September cake, and all you needed was an app to make it even more special? No, we’re not talking about that daily exercise app you haven’t opened since January or your Bible App that only gets love on Sundays.

Nope, we’re talking about the GOtv app, the one application whose sole mission in this life is to kill you with enjoyment, while making sure you don’t break a sweat in the middle of all your flexing.

To show you just how bomb this application is, here are 3 things you absolutely must know the GOtv App is capable of doing:

    1. Paying for your bouquet.

We love a technological flex. Okay, let’s imagine this scenario. You’re at work and you remember your favourite show comes up at 5 pm, but your GOtv subscription is due to expire at any minute. Before you can sneak to the nearest GOtv office to pay, your boss traps you and gives you work that’ll keep you busy way past closing time. Do you:

    a. Fire him rubber when he isn’t looking for coming between you and your GOtv.
    b. Cry at your desk because you know it’s the stale gist from King of Hearts you’ll hear at work the next day. Or,
    c. Boss up and pay for your subscription from the comfort of your office via the GOtv app?

If you picked C, you’re our type. We like you. The GOtv app makes it very easy to pay for your subscription from anywhere in the world. All you need is a phone, tab or laptop and you’re good to go.

    2. Speaking of that bouquet, did you know you could change it any time?

The gift that keeps on giving. The GOtv app is so cool, it always considers your pocket and allows you to act accordingly. Let’s say a week before payday, you subscribe to the ₦400 lite bouquet (on the app of course!) because somebody accidentally spent all their salary on pepper soup and beer in the first week.

The minute almighty salary alert enters your phone, you can upgrade from Lite to the ₦3200 Max plan using the app, and all you’ll have to do is pay the extra ₦2800 again, within the app.

    How cool is that?

    3. You can become your own electrician on the rare occasion that your decoder acts up.

No need to call ‘Salisu Electrician’ if your decoder acts up. Become your own boss and use the app to sort out any error messages your decoder might give out.

But, if you want to contact GOtv directly on the error, you can reach a customer service rep from within the app.  Nobody should say we never show you good things.

I don’t know about you, but an app that lets you fix decoder errors, pay for or change your subscription AND allows you to fix decoder errors from within the app, has kind of elevated from app territory to a best friend, or what do you think? If you say yes then:

Because GOtv has so many different options to choose from, sometimes it gets a little difficult to keep up with them. Which is why it is so great that the app allows you to set reminders for all your shows, making sure you never have to miss any. And speaking of never missing any, here’s the best part

See, if you haven’t downloaded this app, or if you haven’t gotten your GOtv decoder before I open my eyes, go and do the needful.

Or you don’t like better thing?

The GOtv app is available on the PlayStore and the App Store, make sure to get it.

  • 5 Juicy Things That Have Happened On This Season Of Big Brother Naija

The fourth season of Big Brother Naija, tagged PEPPER DEM, is currently ongoing and it has not failed to deliver on all the things the show is known for i.e bringing out the absolute worst (and hella interesting) qualities in all the contestants solely for the entertainment of the general viewing public.

Are we already living in the dystopian future all those 70s sci-fi movies promised us were coming? That’s a story for another day.

What we’re here to talk about today is five of the juiciest moments from this season. Let’s get into it.

    1) Joe Vs Tacha

No one knows what caused their fight (do fights even have origins on this show?) but there was that one-time Tacha and Joe really went at it. Tacha was seriously over the argument and warned Joe to stay away from her but he was clearly in the mood for conflict because he drew closer to her and touched her duvet. This led to an enraged Tacha to hit joe.

The most hilarious part of this is how this didn’t deter Joe. He continued his rain of insults on Tacha, telling everyone who would listen how she has more fake eyelashes than IQ.

    2) Mercy showing the entire country her underwear.

So DJ Humility showed up at one of the weekly Saturday night parties to shut down the house with dope music and he must’ve done one hell of a job because Mercy (in what we’re going to assume was a musical high) hitched up her dress and gave the entire country a peek at her underwear.

    3) Frodd trying to force himself on Esther.

After basically dry-humping each other throughout the Saturday night party, Frodd was caught trying to force himself on Esther around 2 am. Now, sex happens all the time in the house, but this was different because Esther made it explicitly clear that she was not interested in getting down. That didn’t stop Frodd, though, who was hella horny, evidenced by his shorts already around his ankles. In the midst of their back and forth, Big Brother called Frodd to the Diary Room, scolded him, and ordered him to go back to (his own) bed. We’re very disappointed in you, Frodd.

    4) The mysterious person that seemingly shaved their entire body and left a huge pile of hair in the bathroom.

We don’t even blame Tacha for blowing a gasket after finding the enormous pile of hair. We’d be upset too if we walked into our bathroom and it looked like the aftermath of a werewolf transformation. Tacha left the bathroom and yelled at all the other housemates to behave, while also instructing whoever did the deed to go clean it up.

    No one confessed.

    5) Frodd washing Esther’s underwear.

Viewers have come to understand that Frodd is the kind of person to do questionable stuff all in the name of love (for people he’s literally only known for a few days). However, Nigerians collectively put their foot down and screamed, “HIAN! NO!!” when he was spotted washing the underwear of his current love interest, Esther.

To never miss another hot moment on Big Brother Naija, get the GOtv app. When you subscribe to either GOtv Max or GOtv Plus, you can enjoy the privilege of watching Big Brother Naija, on your TV. • Halita: Why You Need To Be Watching The Hottest Show On TV Right Now

    Halita

In a land full of mediocre entertainment and a time of boredom, the destiny of Nigeria’s once-great television show lineup rests on the shoulders of a new riveting drama series. Its name…

    Halita

Halita: Battle Angel. LMAO. We kid. It’s just ‘Halita’.

Halita is the hottest soap opera on TV right now. And because we love you and want nothing for you but the best, we’re here to give you 4 reasons you should be watching this small screen masterpiece (if you don’t already).

    1) The show’s setting:

Stolen glory – Halita | Africa Magic - YouTube

The show is set in the northern part of Nigeria and showcases northern culture better than most.

    2) The theme of women empowerment:

    Halita

Halita taking matters into her own hands and leaving her village (and a less-than-reputable suitor) is a subtle dig at the rampant sexism and misogyny in Nigeria and the world at large. It teaches the viewers that women should be left to make their own decisions.

    3) The Cast:

    Cast of Halita

Fast-rising Nollywood actress and model, Chisom Gabriella, expertly plays the lead role. Ummi Ahmed, Boma Elamiena, Eddy Madaki, etc make up the rest of the stellar cast.

    4) The word of mouth has been great.

    Africa Magic - Halita

The show (currently in its 2nd season) airs on Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154 and GOtv channel 2) every weeknight at 7 PM.
