  • #BumpThis: DJTunes, Crayon, Burna Boy and More

There’s so much music out there that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to stay up with their favourite artists or what’s new and hot right now. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a daily series that features the one song you need to listen to, every day. Don’t say we never did anything for you.

    Crayon- Do Me

Mavin’s talented artist, Crayon has once again showed just how talented he is with his new single, “Do Me”. Nice, progressive love song about he’d jealously guard his babe through thick and thin. Fire.

    Fireboy DML- Tattoo

Whoa…Fireboy released this single with a Clarence Peters directed video, and if you’re going to watch it, you should be ready for some R-rated scenes. Overall, it’s a colorful video with a song that can definitely be put on repeat. Just like a lot of Fireboy’s music.

DJ Tunez ft. Wizkid, Adekunle Gold and Omah Lay-Pami

When you see Adekunle Gold, Omah Lay and Wizkid on a song, you already know it’s going to be fire. It’s even better because there was no warning. The song just dropped. You should definitely bump this.

  • #BumpThis: Tiwa Savage, BOJ, Oxlade & More

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

    Tiwa Savage — “Koroba”

Following the deserved success of her last single, “Dangerous Love”, Tiwa Savage is back with the impressive “Koroba” — an upbeat party-starter about her pursuit of the finer things in life.

BOJ — “Abracadabra” ft. Davido & Mr Eazi

Assisted by David and Mr Eazi, two of the biggest Nigerian stars working today, the consistently impressive BOJ soars on “Abracadabra”, another instantly infectious track.

    Crayon — “On Code”

Mavin Record’s Crayon hasn’t dropped a weak track since he broke out last year. His latest single, “On Code” — a silky smooth love song — continues this impressive streak.

    Oxlade — “DKT”

After dropping Oxygen, one of the best projects of the year so far, Oxlade is back with a new single, “DKT” — a fitting addition to his string of relatable love songs.

  • #BumpThis: Dremo’s “Mabel” & Crayon’s “Mo Bad”

There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.

    Dremo — “Mabel” ft. Davido

Dremo, DMW’s most underrated star, just came through with his second project under the label, Codename, Vol. 2, and it’s a great reminder of just how talented and versatile he really is.

There are a bunch of impressive tracks on the project, all showing off his skills as a rapper and a singer, but a clear standout is definiteyl the Davido-assisted love song, “Mabel”.

    Crayon — “Mo Bad”

Crayon, one of the hardest-working Nigerian artists of 2020, continues his mission to be Mavin Records’ next big afropop star with his third single of the year, “Mo Bad”.

Like “Kpano” and “Shima” before it, the Baby Fresh-produced “Mo Bad” is instantly infectious banger, showcasing the rising star’s impressive grasp of the genre he inhabits.

  • #BumpThis: Crayon’s “Bamiloke”

There’s so much music out there that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to stay up with their favourite artists or what’s new and hot right now. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a daily series that features the one song you need to listen to, every day. Don’t say we never did anything for you.

Before Rema became everyone’s darling, Mavin had a reputation for grand artist unveils. Just months after Rema became the most recent beneficiary of that platform, Don Jazzy’s machine has unveiled a new team member: Crayon.

As with Rema, the Afropop newbie was introduced with his own EP. Titled “Cray Cray”, the project is described as a colourful slice of Afropop in promotional material. It sounds as described – with a raw tinge to Crayon’s singing.

On “Bamiloke”, however, the rookie punches in the more technical aspects of Afropop and an upbeat sound that the label he calls home is known for. The song which is another typical hustle/dance anthem is dotted with a few eccentric references to local pseudo-proverbial sayings.

The production by Mavin’s in-house beatsmith, BabyFresh is so energetic that the song sounds like the soundtrack to a party scene. It’s why Crayon deserves credit for pulling it all together. He effortlessly keeps up with a very tasking tempo, with songwriting that is easy on the ears and made for you to sing along to.

The Mavins aren’t playing this year and we’re here for all of it.
