Ben Murray Bruce | Zikoko!
  • Ben Bruce Didn’t Buy Naija And Nigerians Came For Him

Nigerian businessman and senator Ben Bruce, is very motivational when he’s not carrying out his parliamentary duties.

And blessing Nigerians with tweets like this:

    And his oh-so-wonderful achievements.

His genuine and passionate love for his dear country Nigeria, led him to start the trend #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira

In his opinion, buying locally made products is the quickest way to salvage the not-so-awesome Nigerian economic situation.

As part of his social activism, he recently launched his book “Common sense Revolution”.

This patriotic and loyal Nigerian had his book published and printed outside the country, in the USA.

    Ehn Ehn?

Nigerians had this to say about this betrayal.

Some wanted to unfollow him on Twitter.

Practising what you preach is a key to success.

    Because free books are everything.

Maybe he was worried about piracy.

And when the banter becomes unbearable…

    https://twitter.com/Femi_17/status/702393603050610689

When a book about buying locally made products is published overseas.

What about Evans Brothers, Kachifo and other Nigerian publishers?

    In his defence.

    But in the end..

  • Ben Bruce Gives Nigerians A Peptalk To Ginger Their Spirits
If there’s ever a politician that inspires Nigerians, it is Ben Murray-Bruce. He not only uses his television station (Silverbird) to talk to us, he does that with his Twitter handle as well.

In a series of tweets, he gave us a pep talk to inspire us to believe in ourselves and continue to do better, especially in light of what our president said in an interview with the Western media.

  • Rotimi Amaechi and Ben Bruce Fought Dirty On Twitter!

We all know our politicians love to fight and fight dirty, especially those in the House of Representatives.

This time, our politicians have decided to take their fight from the House to the streets of Twitter! And this round was between Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Ben Murray Bruce and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The drama started when Senator Bruce took to his Twitter handle, to condemn statements said to have been made by President Buhari (PMB) in an interview with the UK Telegraph. PMB warned Nigerians to stop trying to seek asylum in Britain, saying that our reputation for criminality has made it hard for them to be “accepted” abroad.

    What a betrayed!!!

Bruce, vexed by the President’s statement, tweeted:

    He went on to say:

This was in reference to a statement made by PMB in one of the Nigerian newspapers in 2008, where he said that the late former military Head of State, Sani Abacha, did not loot the national treasury, contrary to the general opinion.

    He continued:

Then he went there. He made this statement!

He called out a fellow politician! And we all know who that is!

Of course, trust that this politician who assumes that Bruce was pointing at him didn’t keep quiet.

    Bruce gave this epic reply.

Amaechi then gave this epic dig.

Which led to Bruce and his admirers sharing videos of him doing soemthing contrary to what Amaechi said.

And in the process got #IamaNigeriannotacriminal to trend. [zkk_poll post=18135 poll=content_block_standard_format_16]
  • If Ben Murray Bruce’s Tweets About Nigeria Were Motivational Posters

One of the most active Nigerian politicians on Twitter is Ben Murray Bruce. The founder of Silverbird group, business magnate and politician is no doubt brimming with passion for a better Nigeria. His tweets reflect that.

And he has, err, rather unorthodox, eyebrow raising ideas through which we can achieve this better Nigeria. His tweets also reflect that.

We have enlarged his tweets into posters, because everything looks better that way. Here are the tweets arranged in order of ‘okay’ to ‘WHAT?!’:

    1. This inspired tweet about helping the less privileged

    1

    2. And this really smart one about continuity

    2

    3. This brilliant tweet about the Jonathan/Buhari segregation

    3

    Then…

    4. This confusing one about Champagne and school fees

    4

    5. This one that I totally agree with. But is really impracticable.

    5

    6. The tweet where he said he introduced the electric car. But I still don’t have one

    6

    7. Probably because it costs an arm and a leg. That didn’t stop him from saying this…DURING FUEL SCARCITY!

    8

    8. This utterly bemusing one about attacks and Ramadan

    7

    9. The tweet about proving to us that he doesn’t fly first class. Don’t know how many people that convinced.

    9

    10. I’m pretty sure both of the actions in this tweet are crimes.

    11

    11. Here, he suggested that the Federal Government know our account numbers

    12

    12. This tweet that really emphasizes his disdain for people who drink Champagne…and completely eliminates us that are claiming middle class

    10

He’s equal parts passionate and hilarious. Best mix, tbh. Bottomline, we are rooting for him. He’s one of those that can maybe restore the glory of our country.

  • Do Other Countries Have Their Own Ben Murray Bruce? Of Course They Do

When Nigerian senator and business man, Ben Murray Bruce tweets, you get the impression that it’s a joke. Like no one, absolutely no one, should ever tweet like this.

We thought the Twitter account was a parody, but he has validated the account time and time again. So it’s okay, we have accepted him as our political cross.

But we needed to know if other countries had their own Ben Murray Bruces’. Surely, we cannot be the only ones who breed them. Seriously, I’m asking on behalf of Nigerians. Of course they do. Every single country has it’s own rich, rude and politically incorrect businessman/political figure.

And we found some of them:

    Donald Trump – USA

Does he need any introduction? He’s running for President of the United States of America and his political career seems to combine three ugly things: the outsize role of money, the never-ending campaign season, and America’s embrace of reactionary celebrity figures. He frequently says things like:

    Silvio Berlusconi – Italy

Berlusconi, like BMB, has an entrepreneurial spirit but is better known for his misdemeanors and ridiculous behavior.

One time, he hid behind a monument and jumped out to scare German leader, Angela Merkel, shouting, ‘Coo-coo!’. She enjoyed it, Berlusconi later said.

    Clive Palmer – Australia

The similarities between him and BMB go beyond headlines and money, he also has grand plans.

    While BMB has this:

     CIBh1QSUYAEWY-p

Clive Palmer has plans to construct a replica of the Titanic. He wants to open his own ‘Jurassic Park.’ He has accused his political opponents of being funded by the CIA. He has called Chinese officials “mongrels” (and later apologized).

    Vladimir Zhirinovsky – Russia

Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a loud-mouthed Russian politician, lacks the business credentials of BMB but his statements suggest that they are cut from the same cloth.

For example, he suggests arming every single person in Russia so they can kill birds. He threatened to carpet-bomb Poland and the Baltic states, he bullies female journalists (ordered his aides to “rape” the reporter, then told her that pregnant women shouldn’t be working) and he also rode a donkey in a 2012 election video.

Some comparisons may not be fair, their faults and virtues may be different from Ben Murray Bruce’s but they are definitely toeing the same line.
