6 Relationship Lessons We’ve Learnt From BBNaija Shine Ya Eye

This year we saw a lot of BBNaija relationships, situationships, and interesting friendships in the house. Of course, when you put that many people in an enclosed space for a long time they are bound to form connections with each other. The housemates formed these connections with each other; some were entertaining, some were healthy and others were just stressful for both the viewers and the housemates involved.

    Here’s a list of 6 lessons we learned from this year’s BBNaija relationships;

    1. Choose the people that choose you: Angel and Cross

Angel and Cross understood the ride or die assignment and we loved to see it. We saw Cross genuinely making efforts to understand and be there for Angel no matter how complex her personality was. They had their friendship on lockdown and it just proves that when the vibe matches everything else just sails smoothly.

    2. Your network is your networth; Emmanuel and Liquorose

Despite not having a large fan base himself Emmanuel managed to survive all his eviction nominations and made it to the finals. The moral lesson is clear; if you want to go far in life, attach yourself to someone who is already ahead. Let them help your destiny.

    3. Come correct on what you want: Jackie B and Micheal

    zikoko - BBNaija relationships

This ship was the most tedious ship this year, they kept going back and forth and stressing everyone else involved because they couldn’t have an adult conversation on defining what they have. Between Jackie B’s “it’s not that deep/you’re disrespecting me” and Micheal’s “stap playin wid mi” it was just a lot of stress for viewers and any other female housemate who dared come close to Micheal.

    4. Make sure you are your spec’s spec: Whitemoney and Jackie B

    zikoko - BBNaija relationships

Whitemoney put Queen through a lot of stress because he was trying to prove his feelings for Jackie B. And all along Jackie B had already “Father zoned” him because she said she gets “daddy vibes” from him. Moral lesson; research about your spec’s spec before you start picking out baby names.

    5. People can be angry with you and still show up for you: Saga and Pere

    zikoko - BBNaija relationships

Pere was visibly hurt when Biggie played the clip of Saga badmouthing him to Nini. But when Saga was distraught over Nini’s disappearance, it was Pere who stood by him, kept consoling him, and even sat with him outside the rain. If people genuinely care for you, they will come through for you when you need them to. It doesn’t even matter how angry they are with you.

    6. Go after what you want: Saskay and Jaypaul

Jaypaul saw what he liked and he went after it. He did not let the fact that what he liked had a whole relationship outside the house or that another housemate was passionately in the race too. He simply went after what he wanted and as a reward won himself a passionate kiss before he got evicted (insert a round of applause here).

  • The 4 Major Stages of Watching The BBNaija Show

The 4 Major Stages of Watching The BBNaija Show

Watching the BBNaija show comes with different stages. You may not notice it, but somehow you go through a complete metamorphosis from the first week you watch the show to the last week when the winner is finally announced. The viewer you were at the beginning of the show is dramatically different from the viewer you become at the end of the show.

This article will take you through how BBNaija Show fans graduate from viewers to sugar mummy/daddies.

    1. The objective critique stage

At this stage where the show just started and no one has gotten emotionally attached yet. Everyone just gets on their high horse and starts publishing hot takes on how the housemates are boring and the production is wack and every one part of the eviction process should be fired because they did a horrible job.

    2. The “interested, but not interested” stage

This is the stage where people start getting attached to housemates. They’ll start posting about housemates they like and subtly defending their favs on social media. At this stage they may reject the fan base name but, best believe in one week, they will add that same name to their handle.

    3. The “stan” stage

    zikoko - BBNaija show

This is the stage where people are now seen on social media “stanning” their favs every day. The stage where they carry their fav’s matter on their head and cuss out anyone that dares to slander this fav. This is also the stage where they start proudly joining Whatsapp groups to vote and campaign for their favs. And of course, they use their fav’s picture as their DP.

    4. The sugar mummy/daddy

    zikoko - BBNaija show

This stage kicks off when the show ends. This is the stage where fans start funding their favs. They crowdfund to give their favs extravagant cash gifts and may even go as far as buying properties for their favs that they themselves do not own yet. At this stage, the average BBN viewer has successfully gone from an objective viewer to an emotionally invested sugar daddy/mummy.

  • 5 Things That Spoiled Maria’s BBNaija Game

5 Things That Spoiled Maria’s BBNaija Game

The Big Brother Naija game is brutal. Viewers know this, housemates know this too. When we all met Maria BBNaija she seemed to be a force to be reckoned with but somehow she couldn’t make it to the top 5 list. For a lot of people that math didn’t add up. She seemed like the perfect character for a top contender position. It didn’t make sense for her to leave the game before less popular and strong housemates.

What went wrong? You’re about to find out.

    1. Putting Whitemoney up for eviction

The first wrong move Maria made was nominating Whitemoney with her exclusive nomination power. This was dicey because Whitemoney had just told her he didn’t tell the other housemates she was a wildcard because he didn’t want her to leave the house. Her nominating him seemed too much like a “repaying evil with a good transaction”. As expected, fans took that personally. That singular act gave Whitemoney’s fan base a huge boost and spiked up his Instagram following to surpass hers.

    2. Her alliance with Pere

The love/hate thing she had going with Pere didn’t help her game either. Ganging up with him to destabilize Whitemoney’s alleged strategy came off as a witch hunt and viewers were not a fan of that. Especially considering the fact that Whitemoney had only sent good vibes her way.

    3. Her one-sided beef with Angel

    Maria BBNaija - Zikoko

Maria passionately carried on a one-sided beef with Angel for reasons that are still unclear to viewers. From reporting Angel to Big Brother during her diary sessions to hosting a full-on character assassination podcast against Angel with Peace and Nini during their stay in the executive lounge. This made her come off as a slut-shaming and condescending character. Both of which are attributes viewers are not keen on seeing.

    4. Her beef with Queen

At first, this didn’t come off as a big deal. Things took an interesting turn when Queen unknowingly formed an allegiance with Whitemoney. This connection spurred Whitemoney’s fans to vote for Queen when both Queen and Maria were up and we know how that plot twist ended.

    5. Her reaction to her nomination

    Maria BBNaija - Zikoko

To top it all off when Maria realized she was up for eviction she threw one too many tantrums. For someone who herself had enjoyed exclusive nomination powers, it made no sense for her to take her nomination that personally. Especially to the point where she began to spite her alleged bestie Liquorose. Viewers were not a fan of that behaviour either.

To sum it all up, Maria’s game fumbled because she formed an allegiance with the wrong people and picked too many unnecessary fights with other housemates who themselves are top contenders. Between not being liked by the housemates inside the house and being considered annoying by voters outside the house, she didn’t stand a chance.

  • 2021 BBNaija Housemates With The Most Authentic Strategies

2021 BBNaija Housemates With The Most Authentic Strategies

If you’ve been watching Big Brother Naija from the very first season then you would have noticed that with every season we see a housemate that acts exactly the same way a housemate from a previous season acted. It’s not particularly wrong but it makes the drama predictable and the content recycled. Thankfully, with the BBNaija Shine Ya Eye season, we got some housemates who came with brand new strategies and we love to see it.

    1. Whitemoney

Whitemoney re-wrote the male lead script. He is not in any ship and he’s not pining away for a female housemate who has no interest in him. Whitemoney is also not asking viewers to vote for him because he is poor. He made it his job to cook for all the housemates; a role that Nigerian audiences are accustomed to seeing women play. With his vibrant personality, he has won himself a huge fanbase and even the friendship of his fellow housemates. He is one BBNaija Shine Ya Eye housemate that is really shining his eye.

    2. Pere

    BBNaija Shine Ya Eye

We’re used to seeing female housemates be the villain of the year. This year Pere said no. He came to show us that man can cause all that commotion too. Love or hate him you have to admit that no one has worked the Villian template the way Pere is doing.

    3. Angel

    BBNaija Shine Ya Eye

It’s not really strange to see female housemates look sexy and show a lot of skin. But Angel turned up the heat a thousand notches higher with her tattoos, piercings, and total disregard for a bra. And what more? She has one of the most beautiful personalities we’ve seen in a BBNaija housemate, she has shown herself to be a no-hate zone and we love to see it.

    4. Arin

    zikok0 - Big Brother Naija

Even though we didn’t get to have her on our screens for long we could see from the start that Arin is different. She came through with a vibe that is authentic, unique, and truly refreshing. We loved to see how genuinely interested in other housemates she was and how passionately and eloquently she portrayed feminism in the house.

Disclaimer: The point of this list is not to say every other housemate is fake or boring, we’re just saying it’s hard to say any of the housemates on this list behave like or copied a past housemate.
