We’re almost six months into the year, and Big Brother is yet to tell us when his new children will make an appearance on our screens.
No, that reunion announcement doesn’t count, because what do you mean it might be cancelled?
While we wait for the children of chaos to return, we decided to rank all the Big Brother Naija seasons so far.
Big Brother Naija Season 8: All-Stars
Big Brother saw that he was losing our attention and decided to call on all his badly behaved children from previous seasons. He found what he was looking for.
The housemates fell in and out of love, Ilebaye fought all the housemates, Pere destroyed Biggie’s property, and Seyi dragged his reputation through the gutter. Congratulations to everyone involved. When are we doing that again?
Chaos Level: 10
They stressed us during the show, and they’re clearly still stressing us after, because where is our reunion?!
Big Brother Naija Season 5: Lockdown
COVID-19 was out to get us. The government was unleashing curfews left, right, and centre. But in the midst of it all, Big Brother still prevailed. From love triangles to food-based relationship problems to the curve of a lifetime, we don’t know what we did to deserve it, but they served us entertainment.
Chaos Level: 9.5
Big Brother didn’t even have to instigate anything this season. They used their hands to dig holes for themselves and each other.
We loved it.
Big Brother Naija Season 3: Double Wahala
Between Cee-C fighting everyone and their daddy in Biggie’s house and Nina’s “Miracle is my everything, my boyfriend is my boyfriend” chat, there’s nothing our eyes didn’t see during this BBN season. Big Brother opened his doors and let everyone come in and do as they pleased. We’re not complaining or anything, we’re just hoping the housemates that walk into his house next give us this energy.
Chaos Level: 9
Biggie’s children are usually unwell, but these ones were as unhinged as they come, and we didn’t get a single moment of peace.
Big Brother Naija Season 4: Pepper Dem
Every season, Big Brother makes sure there’s at least one person in his house capable of causing optimum disaster. This season, the producers obviously miscalculated because everyone who walked into Biggie’s house came ready to show up and show out. And when they walked out of the house and onto the reunion set, they continued on their mission.
Chaos Level: 9
It’s been five years, and the housemates are still dragging drama that happened under Biggie’s roof. What does that tell you?
Big Brother Naija Season 2: See Gobbe
We know Big Brother is supposed to push you and your talents to greater heights, but the housemates from this season were just show-offs. They understood the art of multitasking and would belt out beautiful notes in the morning and cuss each other out at noon time. Someone show the new housemates this season so they can see how it’s done.
Chaos Level: 7
Big Brother Naija Season 6: Shine Ya Eye
Did they cause chaos and pandemonium in Biggie’s house? Yes, but sometimes it felt like they were forcing it because why are you fighting for respect because of your old age in Big Brother’s house of equal rights?
Chaos Level: 6
They weren’t that chaotic. They just couldn’t respect each other as human beings. Off the road!
Big Brother Naija Season 7: Level Up
We knew we were in for a confusing ride when they introduced the split houses. Then all the housemates started showing their true colours with their 20/7 relationship-based fights that didn’t make sense. Big Brother better make sure he comes correct this new season, or we’ll storm Ilupeju and bring him out for the world to see.
Chaos Level: 4. We don’t know if it was the division of the houses or the fact that the fights didn’t slap the way they should’ve, but this season wasn’t it.
On October 1, 2023, the Big Brother Naija All-Stars season came to a dramatic close with season under-dog, Ilebaye Odiniya, emerging as the winner of the ₦120m prize ahead of franchise superpowers, Mercy Eke and Cee-C Nwadiora. From the nooks of the internet came a revelation that had X roaring, less than two weeks later.
Unveiling the tyrannical reign of VVIPs and their misappropriation of funds, a series of tweets, threads and spaces painted the picture of a fandom racket. Everything from buying of votes and “trends” to fan service bordering on celebrity worship, drawing subtle parallels with Nigerian elections.
Since its inception in 2006 and reintroduction in 2017, Big Brother Naija has attracted massive public engagement across the country and Africa, arguably second to Afrobeats in this regard. BBN fandoms are highly organised and known to go to great lengths to support their faves. They crowdsource for funds and spend tens of millions for anything that’d give their favourite housemates an edge, in and out of the house.
When “Lockdown” housemate, Erica Nlewedim was disqualified from the show in 2020, fans raised $66k for her because they believed she would’ve been the clear winner — the cash prize was about $100k at the time. Other housemates, Pepper Dem’s Tacha Akide, Lockdown’s Dorathy Bachor, Neo Akpofure and Laycon, and Shine Ya Eye’s Liquorose and Saskay, have each reportedly received a Mercedes Benz from their fans.
While harmless and even admirable at face value, fandom activities have increasingly transitioned into toxicity and even fraudulent activities over time. On October 12, 2023, just days after the finale of the latest BBN edition, fans came on an X Space to complain about the misappropriation of funds they’d contributed to voting for Mercy Eke. They believed Ilebaye wouldn’t have won if the voting funds were appropriately deployed.
These complaints opened up a conversation about gross misconduct within the BBN fandom, all seeming to stem from figures known as “VVIPs”.
The rise of VVIP fans
VVIPs are fans who are well-known to the general fandom in the BBN social media space. It often starts with them showing up online to support a housemate 24/7 and evolves into a persona other fans rely on for the gist of everything happening in the house.
Later on, the housemates’ social media handlers start to notice their usernames and interact with them. With this influence, they take up the responsibility of crowdfunding for their faves, actively pushing their matter online and developing an in-person relationship with them.
After their faves come out of the house, they become the liaison between them and their fandoms, receiving contributions on their behalf from thousands of fans, organising gifts, passing messages from fans to the BBN stars and more. Some become mini-stars in their own right.
[ad]
Once the public witnessed 2017’s “See Gobbe” season finalists, Bisola Aiyeola and Efe Money, become household names — with Bisola transitioning into the highly gatekept Nollywood and Efe having superstars like Olamide, Davido and Wizkid promote his new album — the stakes to win increased. The first VVIPs emerged during the 2018 “Double Wahala” season, with the popularity of housemates like Cee-C, Miracle, Tobi and Alex, and the rush to make sure they won.
Social media-savvy users with time on their hands decided to spearhead the newfound mission to make stars. However, with each passing season of the reality TV show, general BBN fans have grown wary of these VVIPs, likening them to Ponzi schemers.
For the 2023 All-Stars’ season alone, fans claimed to have contributed anywhere between ₦4m and ₦50m to VVIPs for votes to make sure Mercy Eke won. According to Mercy and Cee-C fans, if the money was spent on the service, Ilebaye wouldn’t have stood a chance.
The VVIPs often receive money from housemates and their teams or from fans, to set up voting centres. They receive tens of millions of naira to deliver large voting numbers, in a situation that rings similar to the streaming farm conspiracy surrounding the music industry.
Online conversations surrounding the All-Stars’ finale revealed cases of VVIPs running away with the money, only spending part of it on the votes and even spending it on other housemates instead. This calls into question the very ethics of buying and selling votes for a competition when in the end, housemates with organic backing almost always win.
We tried to get the inside scoop from these VVIPs, but they’re as elusive as Big Brother’s identity. Some posted receipts on their X pages to prove the money they received was used appropriately, but the fandom drama continued. One alleged VVIP, X user @mumchomzy, even threw in the towel after facing the wrath of fans.
According to @mumchomzy, VVIPs are at the mercy of sim and voting vendors — people who’ve made a business out of bulk voting by proxy. And the whole process of supporting housemates is simply risky because there was no way to regulate the vendors.
Rigging the X trends table
The most popular BBN housemates have been known to feature on or top the X trends table several times. Stars like Tacha, Mercy and OG housemate, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, trend when it’s their birthday or they’re involved in any viral conversation.
The post-All-Stars BBN fandom conversation exposed another factor that gets housemates on that table — money. According to X users, housemates or their VVIP fans, pay to trend on the popular table that gives general fans bragging rights. Some VVIPs do this by paying influencers or blogs millions of naira to mention their faves enough times on X.
Many BBN fans believe this is how housemate, Alex Asogwa, stayed on the trends table during the All-Stars season. While it isn’t fraudulent, fans agree that it further exposes the BBN world as predominantly inorganic.
Fans called out X user @princessdaprada — ex-BBN Lockdown housemate, Prince Nelson’s younger sister — after she revealed she’d paid for Alex to trend on the platform. On October 24, in a follow-up Space and X thread, which she’s since deleted, she explained that she didn’t pay specifically for Alex to trend but for a full PR package.
It’s like a popularity contest where money talks.
What does any of this mean?
Is this a call to the organisers of Big Brother Naija, because what can they do about it? There’s nothing moral about reality TV. The working formula is showcasing the worst in people for clicks. If the organisers cared about how fans engaged, winners wouldn’t be up to the public.
This is more a reality check on the crazy lengths fans will go to for their faves (contributing millions to make other people celebrities, in this economy?)
It’s a lesson in the wild world of reality TV where anything goes, and fame is up for grabs to the highest bidder.
We spoke with vocal BBN fans about whether that’ll affect their engagement with future shows, and if they feel like they’ve lost something. X user, @munaliscrys, who’s been voting on and off since the Lockdown season of 2020, shared how she’s always known VVIPs existed and people bought votes, but she didn’t care enough to figure out why.
“I knew about the voting scams, but it didn’t make me second-guess anything. I know my vote is doomed from the start. Also, I don’t use my money to vote. I press a couple of things on my phone, and it’s done, so I’m never too pressed about anything that happens afterward.”
When asked if she’d vote next season after everything we know about the voting racket now:
“I won’t think twice about voting. People opened a GoFundMe for Star Girl Erica, so I wasn’t surprised people contribute and spend millions to buy votes. It’s their money, and it feeds my entertainment. If stans want to spend money to make sure my ship continues kissing on my screen, then who am I to complain? BBN scams happen all the time, so this just felt like one of them. It was a bit funny though, can’t lie.”
Most avid BBN watchers were well aware of the presence of VVIPs and voting rackets before the big showdown on X after the All-Stars finale. Another fan who’s spent money to vote on multiple occasions said, “In fact, I had popcorn ready when everything went down on Twitter (X). But hearing people speak about it directly made the reality of voting different. You really can’t trust every vote-selling vendor.
I’ll think twice about voting in the next season. I can’t be voting and some vendor sends me fake proof whilst gathering my money to buy houses and disappear. I also realised Nigerians are rich, and they need to put me on. They’ve got money they want to use just for their entertainment. From the first year I got into BBN till now, I still can’t comprehend it in its entirety. The whole thing is crazy, but not to them and their pocket.”
If there’s one thing we know for certain it’s Big Brother’s children have this love thing on lock. Every year, they walk into his house, and every year, they turn it into a knockoff of “Love Island”. While we hated to love their love in Biggie’s house, the big question is, “Did the ships last outside the house?”
Angel and Soma
We haven’t had a couple give these many cute moments, both in and outside the show, since the days of Kiddrica. We might’ve had a brief period when we all wondered if they were still together, but with their recent banter and PDA on Ebuka’s internet, these two have made it clear the Somgel ship is still sailing on smooth waters.
Diane and Elozonam
We won’t lie, Diane and Elozonam waltzed onto our screen in 2019 and melted our heats with their ship. Four years later, and they’re still cute AF on that ad Multichoice runs on the Africa Magic channels every five minutes. But don’t let their chemistry fool you, these two haven’t been together for a very long time.
Bam Bam and Teddy A
We thought it was fate when Teddy A got evicted from Biggie’s house the night after Bam Bam left. Obviously, the universe agrees with us because not only have these two been married for five years now, they also have two beautiful daughters.
Neo and Vee
Yes, they fought over food every other day, but they loved each other in their own way. And for an entire year after the show, they made sure we knew the love was strong. Fast forward to 2023 though. It’s clear to see from the numerous ships Neo almost entered in Biggie’s All-Stars house — and Vee’s tweets during the season — that this ship has sunk to the bottom of the ocean and may never make it’s way back up.
Erica and Kiddwaya
Kiddwaya and his Baby G had us all in a chokehold during the lockdown. Everyone had their TVs on the Big Brother channel, hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple sneaking a kiss or Erica enjoying the princess treatment. It didn’t end in the house. They got out, started making vlogs on their individual YouTube channels and had everyone scrambling to get a peek of them on the platform. We got a couple months under our belts before everything came to a screeching halt.
Bella and Sheggz
A year after gracing our screens with their love, it’s safe to say the Ikoyis are going nowhere. They’ve taken every opportunity they can to show each other off and prove that Bella is still in love with her Sheggz and Sheggz is still in love with his Bella.
Groovy and Phyna
If you shipped Phyna and her bottles of Guinness, then quickly shifted when Groovy walked into the picture, we have some news for you. As cute as they were on our screen, and as much as we would’ve loved to see the on-again off-again couple blossom, they’re no longer together today.
Venita and Adekunle
No one knows what’s happening with Vendeks anymore. Sometimes, they’ll have a hype-off with Somgel, and other times, they ask not to be shipped. Are they still sailing. Are they just keeping their love sacred and away from the wandering eye of the public? We don’t know, but we wish this aesthetically-pleasing duo the best.
Yvonne and Juicy Jay
They’re from Big Brother Titans, Big Brother Naija’s half-brother, but we can’t deny that Yvonne and Juicy Jay gave us everything we could ask for in a ship. That’s why they’re on this list anyway. A slow burn romance that had us all wondering if they’ll ever make it, a first kiss that broke R&D Twitter. And now, a long-distance relationship that has us all cheesing every time we see them fly into each other’s home country for a brief moment of love.
Khafi and Gedoni
Big Brother should add “matchmaker” to his resume. Which other show can boast as many married couples as he’s produced. Khafi and Gedoni pushed their ship off shore in Biggie’s house, but with all the storms they faced, everyone just assumed the ship would crash once they stepped into the real world. They’ve been married for three years, and just like Bamteddy, they have two kids.
Marvis and Efe
They might’ve had an entire wedding ceremony in Biggie’s house, but shortly after sailing into the real world, this ship crashed and ended up at the bottom of the ocean.
Miracle and Nina Ivy
Yes, Miracle was Nina’s everything in Big Brother’s house. And yes, we were all rooting for them, but obviously, fate had different plans as they’ve both started families with completely different people. They didn’t even last a day outside the house.
Biggie’s been here for a while, so it’s only normal that people have thoughts and opinions about him, his people, and the way they run the show. Here are ours.
The voice of Big Brother
Yes, Ik Osakioduwa was the host of Big Brother Africa from Season 4-9, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t returned once or twice to talk to the housemates as Biggie.
Biggie has babies
It’s no surprise that Big Brother, like every other responsible older sibling or guardian, has his favourites. He doesn’t eventries to hide it; he loves his babies, his babies love him, and we all know this. They might not get preferential treatment from production, but you will hear his love for them every time he talks to his favourites.
The show is pre-recorded
After missing one too many events and hearing all the hot gist from the housemates post-show, Big Brother and his team members might never beat the “pre-recorded” allegations.
It’s also scripted
Something about the way some fights escalate and how some housemates move like they’re wearing puppet strings make us feel like the shit that happens in Biggie’s house isn’t a hundred percent real. We’re not saying he writes a full script and hands it to his children. We’re just saying, no one really knows what happens in the diary room when no one’s watching.
Production handpicks the winners
By all means, vote for your fave. But after watching the past seasons and seeing how things go down on the show, we suggest you pray long and hard too.You can vote all you want, but if Big Brother has decided your fave won’t win, they will never smell that money.
Biggie picks villains
The same way he picks his protagonistsis the same way he picks their antagonists. Sometimes it might be painfully obvious but you might never see it coming at other times.
Production plants
If Mercy Eke can bring people into Biggie’s house so she has close friends there, do you really think production can’t give housemates tasks and plant them in the house? We’ve had house guests and fake housemates, which are their obvious plants, but what if they have others we don’t know about?
A new reality TV show titled Bae Beyond Borders was unveiled on Showmax yesterday, October 10, 2023, and it’ll match four South African women (they were revealed yesterday too) looking for love together with twelve Nigerian men from any part of the world.
Though we don’t know who these selected Nigerian men are, we’ve seen only Eric (a.k.a. the Indomie Pumper) of the Big Brother Naija: Lockdown season in this show’s teaser. If Eric is here, ready to leave the streets, we know some other Big Brother Naija men who should be finding love on Bae Beyond Borders.
Adekunle
Bad Boy Deks may have not actually found his last bus stop despite the sizzling romance with Venita. He needs to up and jolly with his eloquence and Yoruba boy sauce to Bae Beyond Borders. The women are waiting, and who knows? Mrs Deks might be on the queue.
Neo
Obviously Neo is a very fine man and he’ll deliver a good time and those are already a plus for him. He was hot with BBN babes like Vee Iye and Tolani Baj for some minutes.
The Mzansi women are looking for long term commitment that we can’t guarantee is Neo’s stronghold. But it may be a good time for him to move past BBN flings and get a serious relationship.
Prince
A serious relationship might save Prince from getting trapped in triangles and situationships. He needs the fiery kind of love that’ll keep him focused on a person. Have you seen the Bae Beyond Borders women? They’re more than capable.
Whitemoney
I think if Mazi has a woman he’s busy calling ego oyinbo every millisecond and turning Semo for, he’ll have less time to pose for pictures that bring out our bombastic side eyes or even less energy on flaunting a babe as a get back at Mercy for leading him on. The game is the game. Get it over, bro. There’s love at Bae Beyond Borders.
Ozo
A man that’s reserved, smart, patient? Emotionally available and expressive men are specs the women of Bae Beyond Borders are looking out for. That’s Ozoemena Chukwu. Don’t dull.
Leo DaSilva
If we take out the cringe egusi-pizza meal combo, Leo looks like a total sweetheart. Plus instead of complaining about the singles in London who air him, he’d find it easier with women of Bae Beyond Border. They seem ready to listen just to find their king.
Saga
Saga is finding love but he’s doing it the wrong way. He’s acting out engagement in comedy videos with Mr. Macaroni. I’m confident Bae Beyond Borders will turn bro’s dreams into reality.
Don’t rush to see the show yet, cop your Burning Ram Meat Festival ticket here.
From the parrot exposing everyone’s secrets to the Ninjas pranking housemates, and even the incident where the girls were locked out of a Saturday night party because they were late, the BBN All-Stars House has gave us endless drama.
Here are some of our favourite moments.
The Millennial law vs. the Gen Z baddie
After Ilebaye spent weeks giving everybody gbas and collecting very minimal gbos in return, Cee-C decided to take it upon herself to set her straight and put an end to her shenanigans. Did it work? Yes. Did the both of them almost set BigGie’s house on fire with their shouting and near-physical altercation? Definitely.
Neogel fight
It’s ridiculous how quickly friendships can turn sour in Big Brother’s house, it’s also ridiculous how the men in the house think the women would cower during fights. After the parrot revealed Neo telling Doyin that Angel nominated her for eviction, Angel confronted Neo, and it led to a long fight that moved from the lounge to the locker room. If not for Soma, we’re 98% sure it would’ve turned physical.
Pere vs Adekunle
https://youtu.be/W5xnVJdRvaw?feature=shared
This fight had many bangers. From Pere shouting, “You’ve been marked,” to Adekunle and Venita shivering in fake fear after Pere slammed the table in anger, there’s nothing we didn’t see during this fight. As Pere tried his hardest to yell Big Brother’s roof down, Adekunle showed him he was a worthy opponent by refusing to back down.
The revelation
Even Pere and Venita don’t know what led to their fallout. All we know is they fought, and then right after, Venita walked up to the HOH lounge, went into the HOH room and revealed every single thing she knew about Pere. From his fake teeth to an alleged sugar mummy, there’s nothing Venita did not reveal as she danced around the room.
Doyin against Ilebaye’s enemies
Ike threw Ilebaye’s clothes all over the bathroom floor because she was “disrespectful” to Seyi, and that on its own was dramatic, but what followed after Big Brother played the clip and exposed him as well as all the onlookers was epic. Doyin sat next to Ilebaye fuming and insulting every single person that was involved in the “wickedness”, and even if all you did was look away as Ike scattered the clothes on the bathroom floor like Venita, you were not spared.
Tolani Baj, her comfort place and the Gen Z baddie
This season was Ilebaye’s season, because baby girl was heavily involved in some of the most chaotic moments. Like this one where she crawled into bed with Neoenergy, and Tolani Baj ripped the covers off the both of them and cussed her out.
Doyin, Pere, and the hole in the wall
This fight started with the parrot running its mechanic mouth and ended with Pere’s fist in Biggie’s wall. Don’t ask why Pere thought that was the way to work through his anger, all we know is Doyin called him a liar. Next thing you know, his fist was in the wall, and the male housemates were pulling him away from Doyin.
Pere, Alex, and the bed flip
Once again, Pere decided against normal reactions and dragged himself all the way to the extreme. What started as a light argument between Alex, Pere and Omashola, somehow ended with Pere storming out of the room, then right back in to flip the mattress while Alex was on it.
The near drowning experience
Every party day, we wait with bated breath for all the drama Biggie’s children will unleash on us once the party’s over, but on this blessed Thursday, we didn’t have to wait. Alex, Doyin and Ike’s night started with them together in the pool, but as the night progressed, Ike pulled Alex into the water. Almost drowning, she punched him, and the housemates turned against her in his defense.
Doyin clearing Venita
After spending her stay in Biggie’s house in an intense battle with Venita, Doyin left the house a winner after she cleared Venita during the live eviction show, calling her out on her mean girl attitude and general bad behaviour.
The ninjas’ comedy week prank
https://youtu.be/37NeY5O28dM?feature=shared
There’s no way Biggie’s favourite word isn’t “freeze”. Every season, he uses the word to get the housemates to pause whatever they’re doing so he can either go on a break or get their fights to die down. This season, he used it to get his ninjas to spray whipped cream all over his children’s body.
The Saturday night party lock in
After borderline begging the housemates to forget African time and show up early for everything, Biggie finally had enough of pleading with the people living and eating for free in his house and decided to lock them out of the party room.
We’re in the last days of Biggie’s All-Stars, and although he’s sent most of his children packing, we need him to find a way to sneak these ones back in before the end.
Angel
Source: ripplesnigeria
She might have just left the house, but there’s one party left in the season, and what’s a Big Brother party if Angel isn’t in there carrying it on her back?
Soma
Source: glamsquadmagazine
If Biggie brings Angel in, he’d have to bring in the oxygen she breathes as well. The party room needs Angel, and Angel needs her baby. There’s no point separating the people’s ship, so Biggie shouldn’t even try it.
Doyin
Source: vanguardngr
She and Venita can settle their issues during the reunion, but we also don’t mind Big Brother bringing them back to his house of cameras for them to gbas gbos freely.
Venita
Source: sunnewsonline
Her and Adekunle’s home was on fire when she left. She needs to come back, so they can rebuild slowly but surely.
Omashola
Source: dailytrust
Ilebaye needs a friend in the house, and we must admit that hearing him shout “Warri” is one of our guilty pleasures.
Ike
Source: ripplesnigeria
Just in case Venita and Doyin don’t give us the chaos we need to end the season with, we suggest Biggie call in his ever-capable “Anini” to stir the pot and cause a little trouble before we all say goodbye.
Neoenergy
Source: x.com
What’s the last week without the energy and MTN activation truck dance moves Neoenergy brings? We don’t even need Biggie to put him back in the ₦120m race — before he suffers his 1.94% fate again. We just want him there as a houseguest. If he wants to win millions, he can play Moniepoint’s weekly games and win ₦10m this week.
Biggie’s money is a lot of cash, most especially in the Nigeria of today. But the way these All-Stars housemates are moving, it’s clear they’ve finished the cash without even leaving the BBNaija house.
White Money
White Money cooked A LOT of food during his stay in the house. He even cooked jollof rice right before his eviction on Sunday. Unfortunately, his cooking skills and Ghana-Must-Go tactics didn’t favour him this season. If Biggie hadn’t sent him home, he might’ve told him to start paying for anything he eats in the house.
Mercy
She wears so many luxury designers in the house. Biggie has even seized some because they went against his rule to not wear branded items. If Mercy wins again, we already know where the money is going. Even Moniepoint’s game cash won’t be enough for her.
Neo
This guy is the best at cooking spicy noodles with plenty orishirishi. We doubt Biggie would’ve given him that huge sum without deducting his Indomie budget.
Doyin
Doyin woke up every day in the house and was all glammed up. We all know that it costs an arm and a leg ordinarily. Biggie’s money can only keep her all glammed up and looking pretty for a short amount of time.
Angel
Angel has told us about her expensive Van Cleef and Cartier bracelets countless times. We all know these aren’t cheap. If Biggie’s money touches her hand, that money will go straight into her bracelet stacks before she even gets home.
KiddWaya
What will ₦120m do for a billionaire’s kid? He said his plan was to share the prize money with people. Money hasn’t even landed, and Kidd Waya has spent it all. In the same group as 9-5ers that spend salaries before it drops. Kidd can still keep his money-sharing promise if he plays and wins the Moniepoint app games.
Pere
Even if Pere wins this BBNaija All-Stars, Biggie would use his prize money to repair every property he’s damaged — from the wall he dented to the mattresses he flipped during his altercation with Alex.
Soma
This bro came to Biggie’s house to work out. Is Biggie’s money enough to purchase the whole gym set he’ll need when he leaves? Our advice? Soma should play Moniepoint’s game for the money to complete it.
Uriel
She’s the queen of all the lush wigs in Biggie’s house. Wigs of different colours and sizes, Uriel whipped out at least two per day. Do the math. The way they now cost the same as a plot of land in VGC, can ₦120 million cover that many wigs?
Hol’up.
While your faves are in the house playing a game and fighting to get their bag (the 120m), nothing should stop yours too. Get the Moniepoint app and also play a game to get a bag, but from the comfort of your home. Zero stress.
This BBN All-Stars season, all we’ve gotten is wickedness, cruelty and a huge pot of misogyny. We’ve had enough. If Big Brother doesn’t know how to return his show to past glory, we’re ever ready and available to help him.
Bring back regular people
Twitter and Instagram influencers are nice, but we’re tired of them. This isn’t just about the All-Stars season; the last few editions have been filled with micro-celebrities. Big Brother needs to pack the obscure baddies and baddettes of Nigeria and drag them into his house from now on. If he does this, we’d stop hearing different variations of “Do you know who I am?” and “You can’t talk to me outside.”
Punish people immediately
Remember when housemates would act mad and see the consequence of their action in real-time? Yeah, we need that to return.
Do the jury system well
That thing Biggie called a jury system that saved “you know who” for that long? Yeah, that’s not it. Biggie needs to bring the system back and allow all the housemates go on their knees and beg the jury to keep them in the house.
Movie night
Look, they have a garden. All we ask is that Biggie pull out a big projector, bring the housemates out and make them watch each other gossip about themselves. The fights that will rock Ilupeju, Biggie might just have to reveal himself and beg them to stop.
Give us control
Big Brother needs to find a way to let us control what happens in his house. We get to vote one housemate and use them to nominate other housemates for eviction, scatter relationships and throw more mud in Biggie’s already muddy waters.
Bring back the pairs
Every season, Biggie’s housemates turn his house to Love Island Lite, so he might as well bargain for that from the very beginning and select his housemates based on their compatibility. He brings in these pairs, and they play together, win HOH together and nominate other pairs for eviction together.
Put everyone up till the sixth week
Biggie needs to damn the consequences and just have all his housemates up from the second they step into his house. We need to see if someone would pull a Tacha and not pack or dress up for the evictions.
Bring in the exes
Bringing exes at the beginning of the show is fine, but imagine the chaos that would have ensued if they brought Vee, Prince Nelson, Ike and maybe Erica while their exes were acting a fool in Biggie’s house.
In my opinion, Big Brother Naija Season 4, AKA Pepper Dem 2019, was the most dramatic of them all.
At the peak of the chaos, Tacha and Omashola had their famous fight in Biggie’s house, and viral music producer and content creator, Lord Sky, flipped the video clip to audio, laid it on an Ogene beat and turned into a banging mp3.
In 2020, Omashola, Tacha and Lord Sky brought some more housemates and friends together to do a music video for what Lord Sky had made. Money that could’ve been spent on COVID-19 palliatives for the poor was lavished on an abuse fest movie.
Lord Sky owned the song; Omashola and Tacha were just sample characters on the beat. So how did it get credited asOmashola’s song featuring others?
P.S: “Chiwawa” is the song title and it’s just Nigerian for “Chihuahua”.
Anyway.
If you didn’t already know you shouldn’t take this song seriously, you’d know from the beginning of the video.
Do I even need to say why?
I can’t tell if this is a high court or a circus. But they’re in a court of law. Are the balls on the judge’s table there to signify that “the ball is in his court” regardless of who’s actually guilty?
Don’t even get me started on the fake Navy officer who can’t tell a court setting from the air force. Or this restless court clerk.
Then comes Lord Sky. We know he was the producer, but why is he cooking in a court? He even brought his piano and Yamaha H8 studio monitors along. Why?
The song finally starts playing as Omashola and Tacha take their oaths. And we see that the video casts Nasty Black as a lawyer, only he’s holding a goat.
I’m not really surprised to see a goat in court because only stubborn people get dragged there anyway.
Next, someone strolls a Chihuahua dog to the front. Confusion gets me for two seconds, then it becomes clear. Remember the animals Omashola and Tacha called each other during their classic fight back then? They’re about to have a refight through an actual goat AKA Lil Sholzy, and Chihuahua AKA Little P Bites.
Little P Bites can fight.
The court audience is shouting, but it’s not clear if they’re rooting for any of these fighters.
Tacha, a defendant in the dock, is quietly thinking what in the fooling is going on. Omashola, a co-defendant obviously not conforming to court rules, is the one taking centre stage and causing drama.
Screams of “Barking dog, Chihuahua, nkiti, nzobu and anofia” mix smoothly with Lord Sky’s beat banging in the background.
A human fight breaks out finally as lawyer Nasty Black puts his finger in the presiding judge’s eyes while his client, Lil Sholzy, sprays documents in the air.
Tacha’s calmness ends, and “She-goat, Chihuahua, anofia” is thrown left and right.
Some of the audience are only there for the entertainment and are getting what they come for. While others focus on their female counterparts, ignoring the foolery around them.
In the midst of the chaos, a dance talent show breaks out. Three guys in shine-shine clothing do a funny routine. Nasty Black and the reigning face of misogyny, Seyi Awolowo, join in.
Female dancers aren’t left out.
The judge joins the circus.
Lord Skye knows the abuse fest won’t end until he calls his guys to set-up to entertain with music.
When Lord Skye begins playing, the spirit of unity falls on everybody. Fight ceases, and they all become cordial.
Lil Sholzy finally escapes and Nasty Black runs after it.
Tacha and Omashola give each other a hi-five and become best friends forever.
The video ends with a message on the screen as Omashola admonishes Little P Bites to stop tensioning Lil Sholzy.
I want to use this medium to thank Lord Skye for being an incredible pacifier, even though he cooked the video clips into a viral hit in the first place.
Thanks to the fighters, Tacha and Omashola, too. Finally, the two adults can rest from calling the names of animals in English and local tongues.
We all know Biggie’s rules. We know what leads to strikes, what can get you warnings, and what should result in Big Brother telling you to get out of his house. But it seems like he’s forgotten. Some things have happened this season, and instead of them ending in disgrace, they’ve been received with grace.
One blessed night, Ilebaye pulled Cee-C’s hair and wrapped her hands around Doyin’s neck. We’re almost certain she would’ve done something to Biggie too, if he’d had enough guts to show his face.
Ilebaye got a double strike for that, but according to the rule book, she should’ve returned to her house at once.
Ike, Ilebaye’s clothes and the dirty bathroom floor
Last night Ike moved some of Ilebaye’s clothes from her locker to the floor, Ilebaye was called to it, also Mercy as the HOH was called, Mercy helped Ilebaye pack the clothes back and also disinfect it 🎥: @ bigbronaija#BBNaija#BBNaijaAllstarspic.twitter.com/KY4zoIh3DE
It doesn’t matter what Ilebaye may or may not have done to Ike, but consciously taking her clothes out of her locker, spreading them on the bathroom floor and denying it afterward was incredibly cruel. The fact that Big Brother only gave him a strike added to the cruelty of it all.
Yes. Just Seyi. The biggest mistake Big Brother made this season was even letting that man into his house. The second biggest mistake was listening to him talk about women in such a derogatory manner. The third was listening to him talk about training his son to “run trains” on people’s daughters and not immediately opening the door and telling him to get lost.
Ike stealing coins
Good morning Archangels to what we woke up to….. 😳
Ike stealing Angel’s coins… Another day Ike stepped on Angel’s toes unprovoked.
We don’t know if Big Brother now allows theft of personal property in his house. If he’d nicked Ike’s bad behaviour in the bud when the man started breaking into people’s Moniepoint lockers, maybe he would’ve toed the path of caution and acted like one with sense going forward.
Angel tossing Soma’s clothes on the floor
Well, Angel also trashed Soma's locker & nothing happened to her. So that was a green light to the other HMs that it is allowed.🙂 'What's good for the geese is good for the gander.'#BBNaijaAllStars#BBNaija
They were having a lover’s tiff, and she wanted to take her bracelet back. But we honestly feel that if Angel got some form of punishment for this, then maybe Big Brother would’ve gone harder on Ike’s much worse clothes-throwing act.
The brotherhood of misogyny
Pere is always plotting evil against other housemates.
Here he's telling Ike, Kiddwaya & Cross to gang up with him and bring down the ladles.
Apparently, it’s not against the rule book to plan the downfall of your fellow housemates. But Big Brother should’ve given Ike, Pere, Kiddwaya and Cross a strike each, or even a warning, the second he heard them talk about feeding the women alcohol so they can fight each other and go home.
Pere
ADEKUNLE VS PERE ….. House don scatter 🙆🏿🙆♂️😅😂🤣 Housemates oya packs your bags and go home 😂🤣😅

— Gossipzone aka Anita’s blog (@gossipzone247) August 14, 2023
For every time he’s brought out his general addidude,Big Brother should’ve given him a warning. For every time he planned and plotted against the women in the house, he should’ve gotten another warning. And finally, his strike should have come when he called women “disgusting pigs with pussies”.
Women have actually seen shege this Big Brother season o.
We’re five weeks into Big Brother’s game of wits, foolishness and bad behaviour, and some housemates are already acting like their stardom is fake. We think if they want to stress us and still stress Big Brother in his own house, he should take these housemates out of the ₦120m race.
Ike
We get that it’s a game, but does it say somewhere in the rule book that you have to move like a hardened criminal as you play your game. Biggie needs to give him quit notice from his house because his other children are starting to feel unsafe with this man around.
Seyi
Have you heard the things Awolowo’s grandson has to say about women? Big Brother needs to show him the back door and send him back to his house, so his queen can continue respecting him.
Pere
It’s not like we’re new to Pere’s militant movements, but this season, it’s gotten 500 times worse, and we’re tired of it. He should go start a business and leave Biggie’s house. Moniepoint will help him.
Venita
It pains us to say this, but she needs to use the door. One love to her and her Bad Boy Deks’ ship, but she’s fighting every other day and coddling grown-ass men when they act out. It’s time for her to walk the stage and take her Seyi and Ike with her.
Tolani Baj
This one’s not for our sake, but for hers. Big Brother needs to quietly open his doors one night and ask her to just leave the house. Because the way she’s been marking territory with Neo, it’s beginning to give the viewers second hand embarrassment. She can put that energy to better use, like starting a business with Moniepoint. She’s a baddie, so we’ll always buy what she sells.
Frodd
Let’s say the truth. There’s no way Frodd is winning the money, so he needs to just pack his bag and go home to his wife and new baby. He’s taking space in Biggie’s house and stressing us everytime he does too much with the girls. We just want to enjoy the show and not overanalyse every little move he makes. He needs to resume work because diapers and baby formula is expensive o.
Doyin
It was good while it lasted, but she’s beginning to give mean girl energy, and no one needs that right now. Shouting “I’m an empath” up and down but saying the meanest, most hurtful things unprovoked? It’s okay, she should go and practice her empathy from her house.
Big Brother’s dashed the housemates the first week in his house, but do they have what it takes to behave themselves and take that ₦120m on day 72?
Well, with his new eviction rules, we can’t be sure who’ll emerge winner, but based on these housemates’ past and current behaviours; here are some pretty good guesses
Princess
During her season, she left the second the public had a chance to vote. We’re not saying history might repeat itself, but instead of looking for ways to garner the housemate’s pity like Soma, she’s been gliding through the house talking about how Biggie owes her a long stay in his house.
Chance of winning the prize money – No offense, but zero. She’s moving like she wants to go back home to rest, and the jury might just grant that wish on Sunday.
Doyin
Walking out right behind Princess would most likely be Doyin. Tthe therapist role she’s playing around the house won’t put her name in the housemates’ mouths when it’s “pardon me please” time.
Chance of winning the prize money – 1. It might grow, but for now, the jury has no reason to save her.
Soma
He can only ride on the housemates’ goodwill for so long. Very soon, they will leave him to fend for himself and once more he would walk out Biggie’s house prematurely.
Chance of winning the prize money – 3. He’s given us some drama in the house, so the jury might be lenient with him.
Seyi
Everyone in the house is friends with Seyi, but there’s a zero percent chance any of the housemates would actually save him in the diary room. And seeing as he’s managed to piss off half the population of voters with his blatant misogyny, he just might be returning to his wife and son soon.
Chance of winning the prize money – A weak 3. He’s only staying if the members of the jury are his friends.
Neoenergy
It’s safe to say that anyone who made it to the finale with 1.94% of the votes during their season would be swallowed during this All-Stars season.
Chance of winning the prize money – A 3 that might grow if he makes the right alliances and stops letting his cousin fight his battles in the house.
Tolanibaj
We won’t lie and say she’s not giving drama but if that drama doesn’t move on from this mess with Ilebaye and Neoenergy, then she’ll be leaving Biggie’s house two weeks after she came.
Chance of winning the prize money – A 3. Her chances might grow to a 4 if she finally gives us the ship with Neoenergy we’ve been eyeing since their season.
Ike
Yes, his plan this season is obviously to set Biggie’s house on fire, but he only has one true alliance in that house – Venita, so no one else is going to save him.
Chance of winning the prize money – 4. Unlike the last time, he no longer has the Mercenaries on his side. He should have just stayed home and started a business, Moniepoint would have helped him.
Ilebaye
Everyone might be upset about the bullying she’s facing in the house, but the fans pitched their tents five years ago, so the current chances of that outrage translating to votes are slimmer than the chances of Pere letting that “General” name rest.
Chance of winning the prize money – It’s a strong 4, because while the pity votes might not keep her in the house, the jury might pity her and extend her stay.
Kiddwaya
, Kiddwaya is obviously ready for the game this season. The housemates might never save him, but he’ll probably just keep winning the HOH games or finding the black envelope of immunity.
Chance of winning the prize money – 4
Venita
It’s honestly 50/50 with Venita. On some days, she’s good and everyone likes her, on other days she’s in someone’s face, ready to pounce if they say one wrong word.
Chance of winning the prize money – 5, she’s a walking drama magnet and she just started a ship with Adekunle, so even if the fans and housemates don’t save her; the jury might. Of course, all this is dependent on how long she can hold herself back from beating someone and getting disqualified.
Uriel
After her shenanigans at the last Saturday rave, it’s safe to say Uriel now has a lot more fans than when she first walked into the house.
Chance of winning the prize money – A very strong 5.
Adekunle
Bad Boy Deks came ready this season, and while that can only take him so far with Biggie’s new rules; more people have joined his fan base, and that’s always a good thing.
Chance of winning the prize money – 6, only because he’s not annoying enough to be on the jury’s chop list.
Cross
He might be fun to have in the house and all of that, but he’s sharing fans with like four other housemates. So, sorry to him, and may the jury be in his favor.
Chance of winning the prize money – 6
Pere
His fans seem to like him, which is great for him because the way he’s moving this season, the housemates won’t save him; and if he mistakenly smells bottom four, the jury might send him back to his barracks.
Chance of winning the prize money – 7
Angel
She was a finalist in her season, and she seems to have Twitter on lock. She’s also making strong alliances in the house, so if she ever needs saving, the housemates might just come through for her.
Chance of winning the prize money – 7
Alex
She might not win the money, but she made it to the final five during her season, and that says a lot about her fanbase.
Chance of winning the prize money – 8
Frodd
With the way Frodd has been moving quietly and gently in that house, there’s a chance he just might sneak his way to day 72. Will he win the money? We highly doubt it, but there are no signs that he’ll be returning to his wife anytime soon.
Chance of winning the prize money – 8
Whitemoney
He has a strong fanbase, but there’s the fact he’s sharing those fans with Kiddwaya, and everyone’s had enough of the struggle strategy (which he can’t even try because he just bought a Maybach). He won his season, but now, in the house with all these stars, does he have enough star power to win again?
Chance of winning the prize money – 9
CeeC
She has fans that stuck with her through her season, and since then. The housemates might not save her, in fact, some might try to provoke her into earning a strike, but if she keeps her cool and, her fans will get her to the last day.
Chance of winning the prize money – 10, as long as she does nothing to sabotage her game.
Mercy Eke
She’ll most likely leave the house with Big Brother’s money because if we want to put aside the Mercenaries (her fanbase) she seems like a very likable person. If the housemates decide not to save her — because it’s a game and she’s the strongest contender there — and she somehow ends up in the bottom four, she’s still not going anywhere. “No leave, no transfer” Lambo edition.
Chance of winning the prize money – 10
You might not be in the running for that ₦120m, but with Moniepoint, you can start your own business and get your bag.
Zikoko sits at their desk, rifling through papers, waiting for 6pm to hit, so they can be free from the clutches of capitalism, when the strong stench of bleach fills the air. They look up and see a toilet float in.
Zikoko:
The toilet stops at Zikoko’s desk and descends.
BBN Toilet: Hi
Zikoko: Since Monday?
BBN Toilet: Sorry, I had work.
Zikoko: So did I.
BBN Toilet: Yes, but we have different jobs.
Zikoko:
Why are you smiling like that?
BBN Toilet: Like what?
Zikoko gestures at BBN Toilet’s face.
Zikoko: That. You’ve been shining your teeth since you … floated in.
(under breath) What am I even doing?
BBN Toilet: I’m just happy.
This is the best feeling in the world.
Zikoko: Stop. Please, come down.
BBN Toilet descends with a giggle.
BBN Toilet: Sorry. Work has been so good lately, I can’t believe my employers love me this much.
Zikoko:
They told you they love you?
BBN Toilet: Obviously not. I can just feel it.
Zikoko: Because they hold meetings and cry around you?
BBN Toilet: You saw it too abi? They love me.
Zikoko: Maybe you’re just the only place they can get some form of privacy.
BBN Toilet:
Zikoko: Look, I don’t want to sound like a hater, but I swear they were just leaving skid…
BBN Toilet slams their hands against Zikoko’s table.
BBN Toilet: That was a mistake, and it got cleared up.
Zikoko: They throw up in you.
BBN Toilet: That’s literally what I’m here for. I take their shit and provide them with a listening ear. Why can’t you understand that?
Zikoko: deep breath
So, this listening ear, have you always provided it?
BBN Toilet: I’ve tried, but, no one’s really seen me for me, until this season. You don’t understand, they love me, take care of me
Zikoko: Again, please remember the skid marks.
BBN Toilet: Why are you trying to steal my joy? They think of me as a friend.
Zikoko: Even…
BBN Toilet: Yes, even when they throw up in me. They bring their face close to me, and caress me …
Zikoko:
Okay, thank you so much for coming.
Zikoko stands up.
BBN Toilet: I should leave?
Zikoko: No. Never, I would never chase you away. You can stay and leave when you want. I have some business to take care of, so I’m going.
BBN Toilet:
You’re going to see my friend?
Zikoko: No.
BBN Toilet: Yes, you’re going to see my friend that works here. Say hi to them for me.
Big Brother’s decided to gather all his favourite children together in his house. Doesn’t matter if the last time he saw you was six years ago or last year, he called, they answered. Obviously, that has changed the dynamics of the game. What we didn’t expect, however, was for them to turn Biggie’s house into a secondary school with their numerous cliques, factions, and general behavior.
Head Girl
At Biggie’s school for the stars and star-lites, Mercy’s the resident head girl, and understandably so. She settles fights, treats all the girls like her little sisters, and loves on everyone…that isn’t trying her school daughter.
Clique – The bad b**ch squad
Relationship status – Her boyfriend goes to a different school.
Head Girl’s school daughter
It’s giving Mercy’s school daughter, but not the kind where everything ends at school. She and Mercy are neighbours, and they do everything together; sneaking out to parties and fighting each other’s battles. She’s vocal about what she believes in and is president of the Debate, Press, and World Leaders Clubs.
Clique – The bad b**ch squad
Relationship status – She says her boyfriend is in another school, but right now, Soma is nice to her, and she likes it.
Head Boy
When Mercy contested for her head girl position, Frodd, her bestie, decided to throw his hat into the head boy ring. He’s giving off serious “I can’t come and kill myself” head-boy energy. He just wants to walk in wisdom, tell everyone about his girlfriend, let Seyi (his deputy) do all the heavy work, and treat all the girls in the school like his sisters.
Clique – He belongs to none, but he belongs to all.
Relationship status – His girlfriend goes to a different school.
Deputy Head Girl
Venita’s the assistant head girl, so on the rare occasion where people try to undermine Mercy’s authority, she steps right in and calls everyone to order. At the beginning of the term all you had to do was whisper gbas from across the room, and she’d be ready to give you gbos; but now she has a little crush on a junior, and that seems to have calmed her down.
Clique – The bad b**ch squad
Relationship status – In a thing with Junior Adekunle. Don’t ask what it is, but it makes her giddy.
Social Prefect
Neoenergy is Venita’s cousin and, in turn, Mercy’s school son. He’s the finest and most popular boy in school; everyone wants him, but he just wants to focus on his books and making his crushgirlfriend best friend happy. He’s the social prefect too, and he takes his work very seriously.
Clique – It’s just him and his bestie.
Relationship status – He says single, but don’t let his bestie catch you near him.
Deputy Social Prefect
Neoenergy’s best friend and the deputy head girl’s school daughter. All the girls in school know not to go near Neo because his best friend has craze and is not afraid to show it.
Clique – It’s just her and her bestie.
Relationship status – She says single, but we see her around Neoenergy, and it’s not giving single.
Labour Prefect
He went to military school for a total of two weeks then transferred to Biggie’s school for stars and star-lites. Since then, he’s been walking around like he owns the place.
Clique – The “Na We Dey Run Am” clique
Relationship Status – None, but we see him with Alex.
The OG IJGB
He got back from America five years ago but has refused to let go of his accent. His parents sent him to Nigeria to teach him a lesson, but instead of learning, he’s been scheming, plotting, and stealing from people’s lockers.
Clique – The “Na We Dey Run Am” clique
Relationship status – Single to a blinding stupor
Mess Hall Prefect
She’s the hottest babe in the school. She knows what she wants and sorry for you if it’s your man because she will take him . She’s the the Mess Hall Prefect and also president of the Home Maker’s club , so it makes sense that she and Whitemoney get into little arguments every now and again.
Clique – None
Relationship status – Anywhere belle face. Right now, it seems to be in Kiddwaya’s direction.
Self-proclaimed school therapist
Junior Doyin believes she knows best, which is probably why she’s appointed herself the role of Ilebaye’s voice of reasoning/therapist/truth talker. All her besties in school are boys.
Clique – D ‘n’ I against the world
Relationship status – Single, but eyeing Kiddwaya.
Proprietor’s grandchild
She’s giving peak “I’m the proprietor’s grandchild”. She likes to talk about how calm she is but always finds herself on the seniors’ floor, causing trouble.
Clique – D ‘n’ I against the world
Relationship status – Single, but if your boyfriend enters her eyes, sorry.
Deputy Mess Hall Prefect
He’s the school cook’s son, so it makes sense that he’s the vice president of the Home Maker’s club, and the deputy Mess Hall prefect. He’s always trying to correct Uriel’s recipes, sewing skills, and leadership style. Whitemoney’s also started a small side hustle where he sells jollof rice out of his locker.
Clique – We don’t know, but it looks like their meeting spot is the kitchen.
Relationship status – Single.
The School’s fighting sisters
They’re half sisters but they can’t stand each other and always carry their beef from house to school. They both belong to the Writer’s club, and every club gathering turns into a Cynthia vs Amuche showdown.
Clique – They belong to none
Relationship status – Single, but Cross and Pere, respectively, are on their cases.
Vice President of Debate Team
He’s the vice president of the debate team. While he’s nice to all the girls, all he wants to do is read his books and hold Venita’s hand.
Clique – None, he’s just observing
Relationship status – Don’t tell Venita yet, but we think he likes her.
Every year, Big Brother Naija takes place, and like clockwork, the housemates pick the people whose eyes they want to stare into lovingly and pair up. You might think this year will be different…
How is romance supposed to work this season lmfaoo. These babes have already seen all these men finish
… but we know Biggie’s children, one thing will lead to another, and next thing these ships will begin to sail.
Cross and Ilebaye
We don’t know what might be going on there, but Ilebaye and Cross have been talking in hushed tones and giving each other looks for the two minutes they’ve been in Biggie’s house. They might decide to take things as seriously as any couple can in Biggie’s house or continue their little flirtations. Whatever they decide, we’re here for it.
Soma and Angel
We don’t want to read more into it, but Soma and Angel have already exchanged bracelets and made comments about being “smitten”. Given their respective track records, we can’t say how it’ll end, we can only cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Pere and Mercy
No one would have seen this coming, but when the general saw Mercy, he ran to ask Ike if they were done for good and he could try his luck. All the best to him on this journey he’s about to embark on.
Mercy and Kiddwaya
After being present for Pere’s chat with Ike, Kiddwaya went and pulled Mercy for a chat, spun her around, and complimented her beauty. He might want to act like it’s nothing, but we also saw them in the dressing room with their side-by-side lockers, and we’re watching.
Kiddwaya and Doyin
If you know Kiddwaya, then you’ll know his rizz lies in him feeding his babes. He’s fed Doyin twice in the 15 hours they’ve been in the house. If he continues like this, Doyin will fall, and he’ll have no choice but to catch her.
Ike and Ilebaye
Nothing’s set in stone right now, but we can see Ilebaye’s trying to make alliances. We don’t know why she’s chosen Ike, but we can only wait for their next tete-a-tete with bated breath.
Adekunle and Uriel
We already know Uriel is ready for a ship this season, and after the five-minute interviewing flirting session that went down with Adekunle, all we have to do now is sit and wait for her to push the ship to sea.
It’s one thing to get into Big Brother’s house, it’s another to last in there. The people on this list may have touched foot in the big man’s house, but he needs to call them once more and run it back.
Isilomo from Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem
This queen came into the house with the energy of someone ready and willing to cause drama and give chaos, then Big Brother decided the odds weren’t in her favour and sent her to her house the same week she came into his house.
Kimoprah from Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem
We just want to see Kimoprah’s gorgeousness on our screen once again. We’re not really asking for much, are we?
Diane from Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem
This is just wishful thinking because we know Diane’s now doing Nollywood things and said she doesn’t care about this season, but look at it this way: if she comes into the house, she could join another ship, and then we can get a second dose of the reunion drama.
Khloe from Big Brother Naija: Double Wahala
Yes, Biggie already gave her a second chance, but what’s a third in the grand scheme of things?
Kiddwaya from Big Brother Naija: Lockdown
The man needs to book the next flight into Biggie’s house and give us relationship Kidd 2.0, complete with the special dancing kit he comes with.
Brighto from Big Brother Naija: Lockdown
He definitely gave it his all the first time around, turning semo at 2 AM and giving everyonethe worst possible advice, so we need him to return and wreak havoc once more.
Ka3na from Big Brother Naija: Lockdown
Look, she milked the two weeks she had in the house, then came to the reunion and owned it. We’re honestly surprised Big Brother didn’t call her back to co-host the reunion of the next season with Ebuka and unleash some more chaos.
Lilo from Big Brother Naija: Lockdown
Lilo looked very promising in the first five hours of her stay in Biggie’s house, and she obviously had a shipping strategy that just needed time to sit. She seems to be doing great outside he house, but we need her backin Big Brother’s house so we can see what we missed out on the first time.
Eric from Big Brother Naija: Lockdown
With the amount of noodles Eric was consuming, we suspect Biggie sent him out the first time because he was about to run the man out of house and home. We hope he’s done some introspection and can return and give us shipping pro max in the new season.
Jmk from Big Brother Naija: Shine Ya Eye
Yes, she has a restaurant now, and is doing her own thing, but if she makes a return, she could market the restaurant and give us some more of that good, calm drama we know she’s capable of. It’s a win-win.
A new season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) is coming soon and stans are already raving hard. God, abeg.
The organisers are taking a different spin with what’s set to be the first BBNaija All-Stars season. Since there are rumours that some of our faves will be making a comeback, it’s only right to take a trip down memory lane and see the kind of drama we can anticipate in an all-star house. Let’s get into the chaos.
This is arguably one of the top ten moments in BBNaija history and it’s not number two to ten. Tobi, Miracle, Alex and Nina were celebrating their finalist status when Ceec pulled an epic entrance on them. They never saw it coming.
Bisola’s April fool prank (BBNaija See Gobbe, 2017)
Ex-housemates have pulled off pranks in Biggie’s house before, but they’d have to take an acting class from Bisola Aiyeola to do anything that comes remotely close to hers. She connived with Biggie to fake an eviction and boy, she ate up that announcement scene and fellow housemates were shaking.
Tacha and Mercy’s fight (BBNaija Pepper Dem, 2019)
Tacha and Mercy gave prime Eucharia Anunobi and Clarion Chukwura Abuja Connection energy in the house. Things reached a tipping point when they had a nasty faceoff that had Tacha getting physical and eventually disqualified from the season. Tacha started the fight after verbally attacking Mercy for keeping the house waiting during a task briefing.
“Bye, it was a pleasure”. Show me a more iconic exit in the history of the Big Brother franchise, I’ll wait. Lucy wasn’t having any of the backbiting and scheming that was going on in the house. She knew other housemates didn’t like her. There was no point sharing fake hugs and kisses with the same people who put her up for eviction.
Pere’s military-styled address (BBNaija: Shine Ya Eyes, 2021)
Shortly after emerging Head of House (HOH), Pere rounded up the housemates and gave them a military-style dressing down. His message: “Disrespect me as a person but the emblem on my neck signifies authority. So there will be no disrespect as long as I’m Head of House.” No HOH in the history of BBNaija has touched this level of audacity.
Erica and Laycon’s fight (BBNaija Lockdown, 2020)
You know some serious shit went down if a fight in Biggie’s house ends up with one party getting disqualified. Erica, under the influence of alcohol, verbally attacked Laycon for peddling a narrative that she liked him. “I will beat Laycon if I was not on two strikes. I don’t care if I am disqualified.”
Khloe and Anto’s return (BBNaija Pepper Dem, 2018)
Second chances are rare in Biggie’s house but during the 2018 season, fans were given the chance to send two ex-housemates back in the house. Khloe and Anto snuck into the house some minutes past 3am while housemates were asleep and some viewers were wide awake.
Saga’s emotional meltdown (BBNaija Shine Ya Eyes, 2021)
Saga the lover boy had an epic emotional meltdown after his love interest, Nini, mysteriously disappeared from the house. He was even ready to take his exit from the show meanwhile Nini was watching him lose his shit from a secret room the entire time.
Bisola and Tboss’ fight over food(BBNaija See Gobbe, 2017)
Some of the most chaotic fights in the BBNaija house started from the kitchen, and honestly, we get it—food is a serious matter. Bisola was making French Toast for breakfast and Tboss who had had enough of it prodded her with many questions. Things went downhill from there with that moment driving an “aggressive person” narrative about Bisola.
Nengi and Ozoh’s eviction kiss (BBNaija Lockdown, 2020)
COVID had us in a fix in 2020 but it doesn’t come close to the chokehold the Lockdown season had on viewers. Ozo, who had spent his entire stay fawning over Nengi, thought he was going to at least get a goodbye kiss after he got evicted. She, respectfully, swerved and dodged the kiss.
There’s no bad bitch energy in BBNaija’s history that matches this iconic squabble between Tolani Baj and Kae3na. The ladies had a nasty fight after Kae3na refused to serve Tbaj when she asked for food.
Bambam and Teddy’s toilet scene (BBNaija, Double Wahala, 2018)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHVG9Rs82HU
Hot sex goes down in the Big Brother house even though the housemates double down when Ebuka asks his famous probing questions. BamBam and Teddy A couldn’t escape the cameras when they went at it in the toilet. This scene caused chaos on Twitter NG but had the same people swooning when they tied the knot a few months after the show ended.
Or should we say Big Brother Titans (BBTitans) since it is fused with both the Nigerian and South African franchises?
As many Nigerians were excited to see what the collaborative season would hold, some patriotic Nigerians were not so happy about the Big Brother Titans’ timing. It clashes with a critical point in Nigeria’s history — the 2023 general elections.
I actually agree that Bbnaija organizers are tone deaf and part of our problem in Nigeria 🇳🇬,
Starting the so called Big Brother Titans show this weekend is a very wrong timing,
They should suspend the show until after the elections.
Was launching BBTitans the right move? Could it really “distract” young voters? Here’s what four Nigerian youths had to say about this:
“The timing is alarming and gives money laundering vibes for the elections.” — Martha*
Videographer Martha believes that while people are now more politically aware of the need to vote, the BBTitans may be funded by political opposition parties because of the timing.
According to Martha, “Why would they be having to run the whole show now? What happened to having to do a reunion for the last set? Before a new one begins? And they had to kickstart a new one by January? It doesn’t just feel right.
I also believe it’s a money laundering avenue for the elections. Any money that is moved at this point would be considered as “sponsor’s money”, and there will be no trace to find.”
On her thoughts of voting for the 2023 elections, Martha sadly can’t join the bandwagon of voters this year, as she could not catch up with Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registrations.
“The BBTitans are also at risk of losing viewership during the elections” — Isaac*
Isaac as a media practitioner is highly anticipating voting for his favourite candidates in the 2023 elections and doesn’t see the show as a distraction.
However, he also wants people to realise that the 2023 elections are not the only program at risk of losing the attention it deserves.
In his opinion, Multichoice (the African broadcasting company hosting the show) would also be aware of the 2023 elections holding and might also be taking a huge business risk by organising the show at this time.
He also feels that the decision was made due to the two countries (Nigeria and South Africa) coming together to host one show.
“People arguing about the BBTitans timing is an agenda that is unreal.” — Yinka
For upcoming music artist Yinka, he doesn’t see why an election process of 2-4 hours for 2 days will clash with BBTitans.
According to Yinka, “As a voter, I am not going to spend the whole day watching BBTitans. I am also not going to spend all day at the polls. Most of the BBTitan drama happens in the evenings from past seasons. This doesn’t coincide with voting which takes place in the morning. The fact that people are literally taking this agenda and running with it shows that Nigerians are bored and just looking for anything to talk about. It is an agenda that is unreal.”
“Big Brother will not distract me from my tasks.” — Elizabeth
Big Brother is definitely not the hindrance that people think it is, according to Elizabeth.
In her own words, “I think there’s no one that was really going to vote that’d be distracted by BBN. I watch BBN and still deliver on my tasks, so this is not even that deep.”
Sadly, Elizabeth can’t vote due to issues with recapturing her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
So what do we think about their opinions? Let us also know your thoughts in the comments below.

With over 19 million Tweets globally, #BBNaija 7 was a hit!
This season’s battle for the Big Brother Naija grand prize of 100 million Naira has ended, with the rollercoaster of drama, emotions, betrayal, love triangles, ego clashes and more, playing out on social media platforms like Twitter, just as much as it did on viewers’ TVs at home. The intense support from the fan base, both home and abroad, was showcased through their Tweets, GIFs, emojis and screengrabs which brought the popular reality TV show to life on the Timeline.
Below are some of the most significant highlights that had #TwitterNaija in a frenzy throughout the season.
Phyna is the winner of the Big Brother Naija Season 7!
A major highlight, which attracted a flurry of Tweets and activity on the Timeline, was the season finale which saw Phyna win the coveted prize, after 72 days in the house. It is the second time in the show’s history that a female housemate has won. Bryann was the runner up followed by Bella and Adekunle. Lifestyle and entertainment page @Postsubman was among many to share the news in a Tweet.

It was an unfortunate twist of fate for Hermes’ fans on #TwitterNaija as he got evicted from the house just before the finale. He was evicted alongside two other popular housemates, Groovy and Sheggz. That particular eviction week was a shocker for fans, and they didn’t hide their feelings about it. Famous fashion stylist @Toyin Lawani was among those who expressed their shock, and thought it was a joke.
“They Pulled A Big Joke On Us” – Toyin Lawani Blasts BBNaija Organizers For Evicting Hermes https://t.co/QtAjOgP9vJ
Hermes was definitely regarded by many as one of the top contenders for the 100 million grand prize.
Dear Hermes! as much as your eviction can be a blessing in disguise, we all still want you to win the 100M 🥺 it’s crazy how things turned out! 🥺but best believe we the coolest tribe aiint gonna forget we know a real hustler! his name is HERMES ( C A K ) 💜🪐 #HermesIsAllOfUspic.twitter.com/7EqCF4IC0U
Did you know that a majority of the over 500,000 people who were engaged in #BBNaija conversations on Twitter this season were men? Data released from Twitter revealed that 75% of unique Tweet authors during the Level Up season were male, while women accounted for 25%. That is a ratio of about three males to one female Tweeting about the show over a three month period.
When it comes to the use of Emojis, the top 10 list of the most used ones reveals a glimpse into a range of emotions only #bbnaija can elicit from fans. From laughter to tears, “flames”, love-face, and so on, Emojis played an essential role in driving home the intensity of the conversations throughout the season.. The top five emojis used were: 😂 🔥 🤣 😍 😭
The most used hashtags for BBN S7
Much like previous seasons, Level Up was a big conversation driver on Twitter. Fans engaged in conversations throughout the season with the hashtag #bbnaija, which Twitter reveals was used in over 15 million tweets globally! Other hashtags in the top 5 most used were #bbnaijas7 and #beautytukura𓃵; in reference to housemate Beauty Tukura, who was disqualified early in the show but continued to be a conversation topper till the end – even ahead of the finalists.
1. #bbnaija
2. #bbnaijas7
3. #beautytukura𓃵
4. #bbnaija7
5. #beautytukura
The most mentioned handles
The most mentioned handles during the show consisted of a mix of the housemates and the official @bbnaija handle, which topped the list of handles mentioned. Also in the top ten were the winner @unusualphyna, the runner up @bryannonly, and the disqualified housemate @beautyetukura. No surprises that @ebuka is on the list for hosting the Sunday live shows. Some might find the inclusion of @donjazzy among the top ten mentioned handles surprising, but the Don is mentioned for everything on Twitter.
Some Tweets called on the music industry titan to sign talented housemates like Bryann.
The most engaged Tweets from this season were about the housemates, BBN bants, and other topical subjects. The top Tweet from this season was an animated video from @Jude__Oc, while the second was a tweet about Phyna’s victory. Below are some of the most engaging and hilarious Tweets from BBN Season 7.
When Chichi won head of house and had the power to save two housemates, everyone thought this was the twist that’d kill the show. From how the week went, we agree.
Chichi wins head of house
Chichi’s win couldn’t have come at a better time because she secured a spot on the finals. And Biggie said, in addition to immunity from evictions, she got to pick two housemates to go straight to the finale.
Housemates’ pitching session
In line with Big Brother’s directives, each housemate had to prepare a pitch to convince Chichi why she should pick them.
But the housemates seemed to think she already had her options in mind, so they didn’t put pressure.
Daniella and Phyna secure their spot in the finale
While Daniella’s pitch seemed to have struck a nerve with Chichi, Phyna could’ve just stood there and Chichi would still have chosen her because she saved Chichi the previous week.
Bella and Chichi fight
The housemates still found time to fight when they weren’t spending all their time sleeping. Chichi was upset Bella kept interrupting her as she was trying to discuss plans for the wager. As usual, there was a lot of back and forth, and Bella said Chichi couldn’t talk to her anyhow because she was head of house. Okay oo.
The housemates lose their wager
And nobody took it harder than Chichi who was convinced the housemates had sabotaged themselves because she was head of house. Can you really blame her? They spent half the time sleeping and just being lazy about rehearsals.
Shella breaks up… then gets back together
The couple seemed to have both come to a mutual conclusion that the constant bickering was draining, so they called it quits. Only to turn around and make up that same day.
A special treat for the housemates
Even though the housemates lost their wager, Biggie prepared a special treat for them at the level three house. And everyone but Chichi, who was still down about losing the wager, took the opportunity to bond through the truth or dare games they were playing.
Chizzy and Phyna fight
Phyna completely lost it when Chizzy accused her of trying to talk for Groovy. We didn’t think it was that deep but Phyna spent the entire morning raining abuses on Chizzy, calling him local and warning him to never cross her again.
Trouble in the Groophy ship
Phyna spent a good part of the week trying to confirm where she stood in her relationship with Groovy, he seemed very evasive and said he wanted to get to know her outside the house. Someone play us Ckay’s WATAWI.
Groovy, Sheggz and Hermes are evicted
The audience seemed sad about Hermes’eviction, but you see, with Mr Ikoyi? The jokes about his arrival causing traffic didn’t stop and some even went as far as saying Monday should be declared a public holiday.
Bella and Phyna bond
After Biggie took their men, Bella and Phyna seemed to form an alliance. But for some reason, their conversation was centred around Chichi who Phyna claimed had eyes for Groovy. Bella claimed Chichi was the reason they always put Phyna up when they were in level one. AH!
Everyone would love to be on the BBNaija show and win ₦100million, but your answers to these simple questions will reveal if you’d even make it to the top five.
We know they said we should expect twists and turns, but this is getting ridiculous. Because tell me why Biggie is finding it hard to evict housemates when the show has just two weeks left. SMH.
A recap of the previous week:
Level three moved back to the main house
Biggie had created a different level for Doyin, Eloswag and Chomzy instead of letting them go after eviction. But that only lasted two days before he moved them back to the general house.
Rachel was tail of house
Big brother is having too much fun with this tail-of-house punishment. Because why would you tell a grown woman to wear a trash bag? Tears.
Phyna and Bella fight
Bella said Phyna was from the streets. Phyna said she pitied who brought Bella up ‘cause the person would be disappointed. Sheggz inserted himself by getting upset and defending his woman. Housemates told him to stay out of it because it wasn’t his fight — it was all just exhausting to watch.
Housemates’ movie date
Our focus wasn’t on the movie date. Eloswag, Chomzy, Phyna, Groovy, Chichi and Sheggz, the housemates who’d purchased the movie ticket, had a round table conversation addressing different issues in the house. Once again, they tried to trace where the sex rumours between Groovy and Phyna had started from.
The pool party of the season
Ebuka’s comment about dozing off while he watched the previous week’s pool party must’ve gotten to them because all the housemates brought their A-game this week. While Eloswag was dancing in one corner (ignoring Chomzy), Chomzy didn’t seem to care as she, Rachel, Adekunle, Brian and Chizzy formed the ultimate party squad.
Housemates won their wager
The theme of last week’s wager was “Green Earth”, and the housemates had to make art out of their trash. Even if it’s just ‘cause of the time Chizzy put into the task, we’re glad they won their wager.
Shella finally got their date
Bella and Sheggz had started to think Biggie wanted to run them street when he failed to grant them the private date they’d paid for. But on Saturday, Biggie finally surprised them with a beautiful, elaborate date in the garden. And guess who did Bella’s makeup? Rachel oh!
Mr and Mrs Ikoyi make wedding plans
You either find this ship very cute or very silly; there’s no in-between. Still, it seems there’ll be an Italy wedding to attend after the show. And Sheggz promises to give out 100 free tickets.
Phyna and Groovy’s fight
There seems to be trouble in the Groophy ship because they had too many fights last week. And after the Saturday party where Phyna said Groovy refused to dance with her, she’s beginning to think he doesn’t really like her, and he has his eyes on another female housemate. He denied all accusations and said he’s just dealing with some “stuff”.
Biggie plays Groovy and Eloswag’s songs
We don’t think the level-up housemates are doing a good job selling themselves because most people didn’t even know Groovy and Eloswag are musicians. But Biggie played their songs on Sunday, and you could tell the housemates were genuinely happy for them.
Level three housemates were evicted
Biggie bid his house guests, Doyin, Eloswag and Chomzy, goodbye. And Chomzy was so sure she was the winner o. Leemao.
Dotun and Allysn were evicted
On Sunday, Dotun and Allysn were evicted from big brother’s house. They had a good run, and we’re looking forward to their growth after the show.
Big Sheggz isn’t so big
Sheggz was part of the bottom three housemates, and now, the audience is speculating that Biggie evicted two instead of three because the organisers didn’t want Sheggz to leave.
Watching BBNaija is a lot of fun. And even though the money won’t touch our pockets, we can at least take a few things to use in our own personal lives. Here are seven BBNaija wager tasks you can do to start off your day.
Cultural dance
Do this to thank God, or your ancestors, for waking you up in the morning. After doing small traditional legwork for them, pour yourself a cup of Lipton, and start your day.
Do small mental math
Do small four-figure-table calculations in your head to know you still got it. Once a brilliant, always a brilliant. Then drink a cup of Lipton Extra Strong tea to reward yourself before going to work.
Debate with yourself
Stand in front of your mirror and debate with yourself about everything from “ewa agoyin vs akara and pap” to “japa vs fight for Nigeria”. Or do a few self-affirmations to lift your spirits. If you don’t know what to say, try: “I’m a beauty”, “I’m a spec” and “I’m as fresh as morning Lipton”.
Anthem presentation
No, you’re not actually presenting the national anthem. You’re singing any praise and worship song of your choice. How can you not sing praises for seeing a brand new day? Do this with the cultural dance to really enter that morning vibe.
Work your body out with a dance
This one is for you and not for God. Give off some kinetic energy to get your day moving ASAP.
Actually work out
Has your day really started if you haven’t done a few pushups after taking a cup of Lipton Yellow Label Tea?
Make the strongest cup of Lipton possible
You know drinking tea is essential, but not just any kind of tea, please. If you can pour yourself a strong cup of Lipton Extra Strong tea, we’ll know you’re serious about starting off your day on a good note.
Speaking of tasks, Lipton is bringing their own task to the BBNaija LevelUp house, and it’s going to be lit. Don’t fall our hand by missing the LiptonxBBNaija task because if you do, you’ll be missing all the fun.
Before coming into the Big Brother house, all the housemates told us in videos what they would do on the show. They made all these promises about bringing drama and entertainment. Have they kept their word? Let’s see.
Allysyn
Sigh. Wakanda babe just entered the house and disappeared after she told us, “I’m going to blow up in the house by being 100% myself because I’m unique.” Abeg, what is unique about barely contributing to any conversation or being involved in the house?
In most of the Allysyn clips I see, she’s sitting on a couch looking bored while people are talking. She said she’d never be caught fighting for a man, and she was right. But she did ask a man to leave his two girlfriends for her. Does that count?
Phyna
I can’t lie, Phyna surprised me. She was so calm in her introductory video. I was sure she would come into the house, stay in one corner, and hardly be noticed. Only for her to enter the house, and her voice is the loudest. She also said she’s not interested in love, but look at our good sis now, hopelessly in love and not sending anybody.
On stage with Ebuka at the live show, she talked about bringing vibes (I’m so tired of this word) and drama. So far, she has sort of fulfilled her promise. She’s constantly giving us things to talk about: her relationship with Groovy, her fights in which she’s not afraid to give it back to anybody and her friendships with Amaka and Chi Chi.
Groovy
The god of Groovy has to be mighty because how else is he getting away with giving us nothing? He said he would be entertaining, but the most content we’ve gotten from him was when Beauty was in the house. Can we bring her back? Maybe it’ll ignite some fire in him. I even preferred him when he was chasing Chomzy. I thought he was going to be some kind of playboy.
Chi Chi
Madam Chi Chi came in saying she’s an exotic dancer. I don’t know what dances she has been doing at the Saturday parties, but there’s nothing exotic about them. I thought she would be the life of the party, but she disappointed me and the rest of the audience. Or maybe we just “don’t like beautiful things.”
Chomzy
In her video, Chomzy told us she would take it to the next level by showing off her dancing and giving us hot hot. She’s the only person who has kept her promise. She’s what we thought Chi Chi would be. She’s always on fire on the dance floor and the life of the party.
Daniella
Baby girl said the viewers would like her because she’s very energetic and outspoken. It’s three weeks to the end of big brother, and we’re wondering when this energy will show. She also said people would hate her for being reserved when they don’t expect her to be (which is every single day she’s been in the house). We don’t really get to see her.
Bella
“I can cook, but I don’t like cooking,” my good sis, we’ve seen your spaghetti. This was a big lie.
Bella told us in her introductory video that the season would be interesting because she’s there. Where she lied, though, was when she said she was fun and the life of the party. All we’ve seen is constant scowling and withdrawing herself from people.
She did say she’s a mean girl, though, and she’s giving us that. But her relationship with Sheggz has definitely contributed to her behaviour.
Bryan
All I heard Bryan say was “swag”, “energy” and “vibes” (Yeah, I’m rolling my eyes too). It seemed like he would be a calm but fun person in the house. I was wrong about the calm, but he’s definitely fun. He’s always having a great time with his housemates. But we didn’t expect him to be this annoying and petty even though he warned us.
Sheggz
I saw a fine boy, and I thought he had sense. Boy, was I wrong. He said he’d never be caught fighting or losing his temper, but oga has fought with every single person in the house. “If any housemate hates me, I’ll be shocked. But if they do, I’ll think it’s because maybe they’re not genuine.” Yeah, right. That’s why they hate you.
For people who’ve made it so far on the show, this season’s housemates seem to have lost sight of the main goal — ₦100 million! Seeing as everyone’s main focus now is their ships.
A recap of the previous week:
Hermes won the Head of House games
We were beginning to worry that his ship with Allyson was affecting his game, but this win proved otherwise. And trust him to choose Allyson as his assistant to share the head of house lounge.
Hermes exercises veto power
For the first time this season, Biggie gave the head of house the veto power to save a nominated housemate. So Hermes saved Adekunle and put Bryan in his place. Even though Bryan took it like a champ, he said he’d expected it after his altercation with Hermes.
Housemates were sharing breakfast
No, it’s not the type of breakfast you’re thinking. These housemates served their partners actual breakfast in bed. Bella put in extra effort to make sure she could get the surprise ready for Sheggz before he woke up. While Eloswag took it a step further by not just making breakfast for Chomzy but proceeding to feed her. God whenst?
Doyin and Chizzy, a budding romance?
Biggie’s resident rider, Chizzy, known for catching cruise and hating on ships, seemed to have gotten really fond of Doyin. They spent most of last week bantering and subtly flirting, and we loved to see it.
The Shella and Rachel fight
Mr and Mrs Ikoyi tag-teamed to fight Rachel because of beef, like literal beef. It quickly escalated to name-calling and Bella “accidentally” pouring the food on the floor. These housemates clearly don’t know the price of rice in the market now. SMH.
The housemates put in extra hours to prepping for their dance presentation, except for Bella and Sheggz. Biggie however, asked them to apologise to their fellow housemates for their lack of participation. All in all, it was a well-deserved win.
Bella and Sheggz each got a strike
The star ship each got a strike, but for different reasons. Bella’s was for provoking Rachel, while Sheggz had constantly failed to carry out the tasks assigned to him as tail of the house.
Ebuka shook tables
As usual, on the Sunday eviction show, Ebuka decided to shake a few tables. Only, this time, he just might’ve broken the table when he asked Bella why she was always apologising to Sheggz. And if being called “stupid”, “fool”, and the likes was her love language. But Bella said she only allowed it cause she was in love, and Sheggz was trying to change.
Multiple evictions and twists
On Sunday, Doyin, Eloswag and Chomzy were evicted. But Biggie couldn’t seem to let them go, so he added another twist. A level three! The three evicted housemates would stay in a separate house as Biggie’s guests. Afterwards, they’d be allowed back into the main house only to be evicted on the 18th.
Phyna is the new Head of House
After the games yesterday, for the first time this season, a former level two housemate is head of house. We’re particularly excited to see what Phyna has up her sleeve this week.
If you’ve watched the Big Brother Naija show, you’ll know that they set the standard for partying. There are parties, and there are #BBNaija parties. And here’s why we think everyone needs to experience a #BBNaija party once in their life.
Fashion
Housemates’ outfits for BBNaija parties always give! The clothes are always so unique and creative with silky smooth styles, especially when they’re in line with a theme. It’s like playing dress-up. Please, sign us up!
Bomb music
We don’t know how Big Brother always manages to find top-tier DJs that’ll make you lose home training and scatter legwork on the dance floor. Even us, we’re always dancing in front of our TVs, because the music do usually be fire. One minute you’re dancing to Sungba, next, you’re dancing to Awilo. Abeg, is there any way we can attend this Saturday’s party?
Themed parties
You can never get tired of partying when every week there’s a different theme. It makes you feel like you’re at a different party, turning up with the same lit people. One of our faves so far was the Guinness Smooth “rep your style” party, which gave the housemates the chance to be creative with their own outfits.
Free drinks
Saturday parties with free drinks? Lagosians are shaking. Everyone knows it’s not a celebration without premium beer. So who wouldn’t want to attend a party where you have access to FREE cans of Guinness smooth? Me leave? Never!!!. Biggie would have to tell his bouncers to carry us out.
Good vibes
Saturday parties are the one day we’re sure the housemates just want a good time and smooth-flowing vibes. So they put aside the tension of eviction and petty quarrels to focus on living in that moment. With great music and fly outfits, it’s easier for the housemates to enjoy themselves.
After-party drama
Having fun at the party is important, but you see that gossip about all the things that happened at the party? Very key. Because how else do you want to know who danced with who, who was jealous about what, and all the other gists you may have missed?
Party squads
If you think solo parties are fun, you should try partying with your squad. You get to dance, drink and just vibe together. BBNaija has given us solid party gengs this year: Modella and Doyin party duo, Hermes and Eloswag, Phyna and Guinness smooth, etc.
Don’t miss out on the smooth experience this weekend, as your faves show their unique style even as they party with the Guinness smooth squad @Guinnessngr. Join the conversation by using the hashtags #GuinnessSmoothNG and #BBNaijaGuinnessSmooth.
No BBNaija season is complete without constant bickering and fighting between housemates. This is why we know you’ll be no different. But take this quiz, and we’ll tell you what your fights will be about.
Not surprisingly, he chose Daniella as his assistant. Only, this time while he was granted immunity from eviction, Daniella wasn’t. So her only “reward” was sharing the head of house lounge. Hmmm, Biggie!
Amaka’s surprise eviction
Biggie hit the housemates with a surprise eviction. He asked each housemate to nominate a fellow housemate to leave the house immediately. Unfortunately, Amaka got the highest nominations.
At this point, we’re convinced these housemates hate peace because why are they always quarrelling forgossake?
Housemates lost their wager
The task was to make a comedy presentation, and personally, I thought some parts were pretty funny. But apparently not to Biggie, so the housemates lost their wager. A food fight brewing in the coming week?
Pepsi Saturday party
We can’t tell if they were trying to forget the looming Sunday evictions or just trying to live in the moment, but the housemates partied hard. Maybe a little too hard because it ended with Doyin and Daniella throwing up, Phyna falling asleep in her towel and Eloswag having to help Chomzy change because she was too drunk to do it herself.
Trouble in the Shella ship
Your favourite Mr & Mrs Ikoyi, Bella and Sheggz fought so much in the past week that any doubts about their relationship being toxic has cleared. After their fight on Saturday night, we were sure Bella was done, but was she? Because tell me why she ended up apologising to this nigga.
Bella is hugging Sheggz and crying even after he told her he’s going to leave her outside the house for his ex.
Ebuka announced at the start of the eviction show that it was going to be a king-sized eviction, so we were not surprised when Deji got evicted. He was sha the second fake housemate, so we all saw this coming — well, everyone except his partner, Chichi, who was completely distraught. Our mon cherie, Diana was also evicted. We’re definitely going to miss her hilarious diary sessions.
And lastly, to the surprise of the housemates, Giddyfia was evicted.
Following the head of house games on Monday, 29th August, Biggie had each housemate nominate someone for possible eviction. Only, unlike the other times, there’d be no room for viewers to vote, as the highest voted housemate would be leaving immediately.
At the end of the session, Doyin and Amaka were the most nominated housemates, with six nominations each.
The housemates’ reaction when Biggie announced that Amaka had been evicted from the Level Up season.
Even though we could tell Amaka felt betrayed, she seemed to have left with no hard feelings as she told the housemates how much she loved them.
But unlike Amaka, the viewers were not having it and here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Sigh
Na so?
We could all agree it was an unfortunate situation
But while some people were threatening to boycott the show
Others blamed it on karma
A few people thought big brother was being partial
But trust Nigerians to catch cruise with everything
LMAO, this one is funny sha
Omo, fear human beings
But there was still something we didn’t get
They dragged this question so much, big brother had to explain
In the end, it’s still a game. So we wish her well
At this point, anything can happen on this show, so you need to stay updated. If you’re still unsure of what’s happening, maybe you need to check out what happened last week.
Another week, another round of drama. And as usual, we’re bringing you all the gist you may have missed in Week 5.
Chomzy won Head of House
Chomzy became the first female Head of House for the Level Up season, and we absolutely loved to see it. She chose Eloswag as her deputy. And together, they were both exempted from the week’s nominations.
Biggie put all the housemates up for eviction.
After each person had nominated their preferred housemate to be up for eviction, Biggie announced that all housemates, except the Head of House and deputy, were up for possible eviction.
But immediately after, Ebuka announced to the viewers that the nominations were fake, and there was no need for any voting that week. Best in Littlefinger.
While some ships are sailing, others are sinking
With some new ships budding — e.g., Dotun has expressed his feelings for Daniella — other ships are sinking as quickly as they had started sailing; the Amaka and Giddyfia ship. But the Shella ship stands firm, and the Phyna and Groovy ship seems to be waxing stronger.
Housemates fight over food
Is it the big brother’s house if they don’t fight about food? The majority of the fights last week were because of food. Chizzy fought with Sheggz and Bella, while Bryan fought with Phyna and Amaka over kilishi.
Amaka almost burnt down the house
In her defence, she had been trying to make meat pies when Biggie called all housemates to the garden, so she set the timer for 20 minutes. But when she returned to the house, it reeked of smoke and the microwave was damaged. In response to this act of carelessness, Biggie gave her a strict warning and forbade the housemates from using the new microwave.
The housemates won their wager
For their task, the housemates put up a show to showcase their locally made body butter and scrub, face mask, and lip scrub. Although Big brother said they could’ve done more with the number of housemates, he commended their effort regardless.
Amaka got her first strike
In line with the warning in the rule book, Amaka got her first strike for continuous microphone infringement.
Chichi’s punishment got extended
Biggie had asked Chichi to fill a notebook with the words: “I will never destroy the property of my fellow housemates”. Due to her failure to finish it in time, he added another notebook.
Modella got evicted
We expected a no eviction night, so when Ebuka had asked Modella to step forward, we were a bit surprised, but technically, she was never an actual housemate, so it makes sense.
Guinness hosted the “Smooth Task” for the BBN level up house mates and doesn’t want you to miss out of the fun. Each team is named after the characteristics of Guinness Smooth, now the question is, what team would you be on? Team silky, smooth or easy? Take this quiz to find out.
After the week that just passed in his house, we worry about Biggie’s mental health, because what was that chaos? Here’s a recap.
Eloswag won head of house
Making it his second time, and the fourth in a row, level 1 is winning the head of house challenge.
Sheggz and Adekunle fought
Adekunle said Shella was Sheggz’s strategy, and Sheggz said he didn’t think Adekunle was straightforward. Since then, the vibe between the two has been awkward. But after Sheggz claimed Adekunle put Groovy up for eviction to spite him, the two started shouting at each other, and the other housemates were surprised at the bust of anger by the diplomatic Adekunle.
Deji and Dotun gossiped about other housemates
Deji had an earful to say about the ladies in the house, like how he was more aroused by Chomzy than Chichi, there’s no real ship in the house and Doyin is secretly jealous of the Shella ship.
Level 2 won the wager
Last week’s task was on Afrofuturism, and even though each housemate brought their A-game, level 2 won.
Level 1 and 2 exchanged a housemate
On Friday, Groovy was moved to Level 1, while Deji took his place in Level 2. Your fave, Phyna, was sulking because of the departure of her lover. Groovy, on the other hand, told Chomzy that Phyna was just like a mother to him. Fear men.
Hermes and Allyson kissed
No one can deny the passion that was carried in that single kiss. Although, some Allyson stans are not happy about this because Hermes made it clear he had not one but two relationships outside the house.
Diana and Rachel fought
While we watched Eloswag, Hermes and Doyin burst the latest moves at the Saturday party, Diana and Rachel were in a corner having a squabble about Giddyfia.
This didn’t come as a surprise because they were up against Groovy, Chizzy, Modella and Amaka, so we kinda saw it coming.
Groovy and Phyna sex rumours
Amaka was supposed to tell people about Groovy and Phyna being together, but somewhere down the grapevine, it changed to a rumour of them having sex.
Chichi and Diana also fought
We don’t want to believe it was just because of wardrobe space Chichi was raining insults, threatening to scatter Diana with her mouth. She even went ahead to throw Diana’s things in the bin.
Both houses were merged on Sunday
Finally! With both levels in the same house, new friendships are forming, and ships maybe? Amaka and Giddyfia already shared an under-the-duvet moment, so we have our eyes open for that.
