Last year, we told you the story of this 2-year-old boy who was abandoned in Akwa Ibom for being a witch, and Anja Ringgren Loven, the woman who saved and nurtured him back to life.
The little boy was severely malnourished and disoriented when Anja found him and took him in.

Originally from Denmark, Anja sold all she had and moved to Nigeria to start a much-needed charity foundation for Nigerian kids accused of witchcraft – the African Children’s Aid And Development Foundation.
She named him ‘Hope’, and a little over a year later, the little boy’s life has taken an amazing turn for better.
After being accused of witchcraft, this little boy was left to starve in the streets of Nigeria.
In just a year, Anja’s foundation helped turn Hope into a healthy, fun loving child. He even started school recently.
You mean there are still people like Anja in this wicked world?
Unbelievable as it seems, Hope’s case is not unique. There are many cases of kids being killed for being witches and organisations like Anja’s are doing a lot to save them.
But see how Hope, the little fighter, is doing now.
Witchcraft is very rampant in Nigeria. At least, some religious people will have you believe that. And who bears the brunt of it? Children who have been deemed witches by their families, because of what the pastor said or because the child is acting “abnormally”.
That was the situation of this three year old boy.
The child who couldn’t fend for himself was left for dead in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state after being branded a witch. People passed by this child and did nothing to help him.
The severely malnourished child was rescued by Anja Ringgren Lovén, who gave him water and Digestive biscuit as shown in this picture that went viral.
Anja Ringgren Lovén, the Danish founder of the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation. She sold everything she owned and moved to Nigeria three years ago, where she found this organization, with her partner David, through which she uses education “to break superstition in Nigeria”.

The boy who has been named ‘Hope’ by Anja, is currently in the hospital and is being cared for by her and treated for malnutrition and worms. He has received a blood transfusion as well.
