  • Miss Kenya, The Only African To Make Top 5 At The Miss World Pageant

Miss Kenya, The Only African To Make Top 5 At The Miss World Pageant

Miss Kenya, Evelyn Njambi Thungu, made Kenya and Africa proud at the Miss World 2016 Pageant which held on Sunday.

L-R Miss Philippines, Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Indonesia, Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Kenya at the 2016 Miss World Crowning Ceremony.

The 22-year-old finished fourth position, and was the only African contestant to make it to the top 5 stage of the competition, in Oxen Hill, Maryland (USA).

Miss Ghana also made it to the top 20 stage.

Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle was crowned Miss World 2016, with Dominican Republic and Indonesia getting the first and second runner ups position.

Sadly, Miss Nigeria, Debbie Collins, did not make it to the top 5, nor the top 10, not even the top 20.

Miss World 2001, Agbani Darego, has been the only Nigerian to win the competition since it started in1951.

Hopefully, next year’s Nigerian contestant will take us back to the glory days of 2001.

  • The First Daughter Is Getting Married And We’re So Turning Up!

The First Daughter Is Getting Married And We’re So Turning Up!

We are putting on our party shoes because Zahra Buhari is getting hooked!

Who’s the lucky fellow you ask? It’s Ahmed Indimi of the mega-rich Indimi family.

The wedding Fati’ah will hold on the 16th of December at the National Mosque, Abuja.

    We’re so here for this!

Infact, we’re just waiting for them to send us our executive Invitation, so we can storm the wedding like:

A very big congrats to the lovely couple.

  • We Need To Be Careful With Fake Products In The Market And This Is Why

Times are hard, and people are getting more desperate to make money.

Some of us even heard there’s now ‘plastic rice’ in Nigerian markets.

We almost didn’t believe it until we saw this video.

Is this how you people used to do?

Open your eyes well when you’re Christmas shopping. Fake drugs are also common.

As for the government agencies that are supposed to keep these things out of the market, we don’t have much to say to you.

  • This Nigerian Dude And His Oyinbo Wife Dancing At Their Wedding Is Just Epic

We know plenty of you like owambe and weddings especially.

And Nigerian weddings are never boring!

This Nigerian guy and his wife took the game to another level when they danced to Yemi Alade’s ‘Johnny’.

    https://twitter.com/KdubSoSolid/status/807701102040780800

We too want to get married so we can do ‘Couple’s Choreography’ like this!

  • MMM Nigeria Is Taking A ‘Break’ And We All Know What That Means

MMM Nigeria Is Taking A ‘Break’ And We All Know What That Means
It’s pretty popular here, but for those who don’t know, MMM is one of the many ponzi money schemes Nigerians are currently engaging in. Over a million Nigerians have invested money in the money pyramid scheme, hoping to get returns of 30% per month. With the tough economy and an all-time-high exchange rate, it’s no surprise that MMM has  an occultic following here.

The hour we were warned about is finally here! MMM has taken a ‘break’!

Apparently, Financial Watch warned us that MMM would activate a ‘Pause mode’ when the Christmas/New year period is here.

    See for yourself!

But did we listen? Even when the CBN warned us, did we not block our ears?

So we that put N1 million there now, are we not finished?

Even though the MMM website warned us! But… wait, are they making fun of us now?

    https://twitter.com/MMMNigeriaHelp/status/808363412875055104

MMM people! What will Chukwuemeka do now?

You better ‘unfreeze’ our money! We’re dead serious!

Where will we get Christmas money now? #MokuMogbeModaran

  • Ghanaians Have Peacefully Elected A Brand New President

Ghanaians have peacefully opted for ‘change’ in the just concluded presidential elections, just like Nigerians did in the 2015 presidential elections.

According to Reuters, two radio stations have called the results of the December 7 elections.

Meet President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

72-year-old Nana Akufo-Addo ran for president under the NPP in 2008, 2012, and now in 2016. He previously served as Attorney General of Ghana and Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Ghanaians are banking on him to bring ‘change’ to the country.

    https://twitter.com/officialdaddymo/status/807123310546944000
Which one of you did this?

Incumbent president, John Dramani Mahama, apparently did not get the memo: you dab, you lose!

    https://twitter.com/Ayina_r/status/807127696123817984

Did he not see what happened to America’s Hilary Clinton?

Hopefully, president-elect Nana will not put Ghana inside one-chance bus, like some people have…

…we are not naming names, though!

  • The Nigerian Sports Minister Has A Silly Excuse For Super Falcons’ Allowance Delay

The Nigerian female soccer team, Super Falcons, made all of us proud when they won the 2016 African Women’s Cup Of Nations in Cameroon.

Their victory was certainly no surprise; the Super Falcons were the defending champions of the title.

Surprise, surprise, the Nigerian government has failed to pay them allowances accumulating to about N238.05m.

Punch reports that the Super Falcons are currently in a face-off with the Nigerian Football Federation.

The Nigerian sports minister, Solomon Dalung, however has a very, very stupid reason for the non-payment.

According to Dalung, the allowances were not prepared because “nobody even knew the team will emerge victorious”.

    Please sir, come again?

With all due respect sir (which is none), this statement is senseless.

Before you talk next time, consult your brain!

  • Who Is The Other Nigerian On The Grammy Nominations List?

We’ve all heard Wizkid made the the Grammy Nominations list courtesy of Drake’s ‘Views’ Album, but you probably don’t know Kah-lo, the other Nigerian who also made the list.

Meet the fast-rising international artiste, Faridah Demola Seriki, who is one of many Nigerians doing us proud. She is the daughter of former Minister of Defence, Chief Demola Seriki.

‘Rinse and Repeat’ – her single with English producer, Riton, has been nominated for the ‘Best Dance Recording’ category.

Kah-lo shared her excitement on her Instagram, and now we’re seriously rooting for them both.

Some Nigerian artistes have been shouting that they will win a Grammy since the days of ‘Street Credibility’…

… but this is us, still waiting for their Grammy nomination.

If these two win, it would make them the first set of mainstream Nigerian musicians to win a Grammy. In 2015, Kevin Olusola became the first Nigerian to pick a Grammy win along with his acapella band, ‘Pentatonix’.

The 59th Grammy Awards will hold on the 12th of February, 2017 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Beyonce is topping the list with 9 nominations in all, with Kanye, Rihanna and Drake following with 8 nominations.

  • This Hilarious Gold Circle Commercial Is The Funniest thing We’ve Seen This Month

After making us cringe and laugh hard with ads like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RygPMqmwIg

Gold Circle has come again with another really hilarious ad. A Nigerian uncle overheard his niece talking about how her boyfriend gave her plenty ‘ horsepower’.

When your uncle hears you talking about nacks with bae.

How you lie when he asks you what you meant by ‘horsepower’.

We would tell you to stop doing bad things, but most of you won’t hear word sha. So just watch this video in the mean time.

  • This NYSC Band Did The Mannequin Challenge And It Was Dope AF

Although people on the internet like to put the whole world through a major overkill of latest trends (e.g the Dab- we hope it dies soon), the mannequin challenge seems to be the best of them all.

Despite being in the not-so-wonderful NYSC camp, some corp members made the best of their parade/match past.

After serving really amazing drumming skills on the parade ground, these Ogun corpers did the mannequin challenge and it was pretty dope. Don’t hate, just watch this:

What do yo think of the Mannequin Challenge generally? Will you be taking part? Let’s know what you think in the comments section.

  • This Guy Mimicked President Buhari And It Was Just Perfect

There we were, just having a jolly time on Twitter when we saw President Buhari making another speech about the ‘other room’.

I mean, we were so sure it was him, until we looked very closely.

Please, help us see this American wonder!

Meet Katsina-born comedian, Mc Tawgaye, the guy who is truly President Buhari’s doppelganger.

  • This Hilarious Video Shows Exactly Why Driving Your Nigerian Parent Is The Worst

This Hilarious Video Shows Exactly Why Driving Your Nigerian Parent Is The Worst
Nigerian parents swear they’re the best drivers in the world. But driving them is another wahala on it’s own.

Nigerian parents, when you mistakenly drive above 20Km/Hr:

When they see you driving with one hand.

Popular Youtuber, Comedy Shorts Gamer, aka Deji drove his father in a Lamborghini for the first time, and his reaction was priceless.

  • Governor Fayose Is The King Of Petty And We Have Receipts To Prove It

We all know the Governor of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose, and we know how much he loves wahala!

He’s really not the type of person that avoids controversies, in fact, he lives for it.

You’ve not forgotten all the trouble he gave Madam Aisha Buhari, have you? Madam Aisha was so angry!

Now, he has come again. This time, his petty game is 10/10! Just look at how he dragged President Buhari’s administration:

Uncle Fayose is not even here to play.

We can’t blame Uncle Ayo Fayose this time around, this is the Federal Government’s fault.

Daddy Bubu, what are you doing?

    Sorry for yourself!

  • The Data Tariff Increase Directed By The NCC Has Been Halted!

So yesterday, we all heard how the NCC had sent a directive to telecommunications companies, ordering a hike in data tariffs.

Needless to say, nobody was happy about it! I mean, isn’t their job to ensure the provision of quality services to customers?

So why are they now trying to put more pressure and hardship on customers?

Anyway, maybe as a result of all the uproar, the Nigerian senate quickly halted the approved tariff increase!

While we are very grateful, what we were hoping for was an outright repeal of the new tariff!

Not the one that we will wake up one day and realise the new tariff is back on!

Because we will not take it oh! We will not take it!

  • Watch This Moving Short Film About HIV/AIDS Awareness

Currently, records have shown an unbelievable 3.4 million Nigerians are living with the HIV/AIDS virus.

Every year on World AIDS Day- December 1st, people around the world come together to fight against the virus, spread awareness and show support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

For this year’s World AID Day, Up In The Sky Nigeria, a Nigerian Ad agency, created a campaign, Tick Tock, to spread awareness about the importance of getting tested and support for those already living with AIDS

Oya, go and get tested today but in the mean time, watch the short but moving film below:

  • Engineers At This Nigerian Polytechnic Have Built A Beautiful Stadium All By Themselves

A lot of people think that state-owned educational institutions, especially the polytechnics, in Nigeria are no good, but Delta State Polytechnic has proven otherwise.

This year, engineers from the Polytechnic built this beautiful 14,000 capacity stadium, and they did it with the institution’s funds!

Even state governments would rather wait for Federal Allocation before they do anything worthwhile!

We need to appreciate and commend the Rector of the school, Dr J.S Oboreh.

Also, the engineers did a very good job!

We hear the stadium is being commissioned today, the 1st of December.

    https://twitter.com/SeiyefaEgein/status/803870061006061568

Hopefully, all higher institutions are taking note; we need to see more of this, please!

  • Nigerians React To The NCC’s New Data Hike

Nigerians React To The NCC’s New Data Hike
With the quick and global spread of technology, the most sensible thing for any country to do is to make data cheaper so it’s citizens can get east access to the internet. But unfortunately, not in Nigeria. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on November 29, ordered an increase in data tariffs, simply because there is an ‘unhealthy price competition’ between network providers

This ridiculously senseless price hike obviously didn’t meet Nigerians well.

Some are already staging a protest.

Nigerian government people are kuku CEO of suffer-head limited.

    https://twitter.com/SomaKudi/status/803587213741162498

Why are the cheap data rates paining these NCC people?

    https://twitter.com/Gidimeister/status/803621065012326401
    https://twitter.com/_Alphawoman/status/803697303647354880

They’ve found the minister of commuications phone number sha, Nigerians have no chill!

Instead of them to say they want to scam us in broad day light

So the NCC shouldn’t hide under the guise of protecting small operators and tell us they want to exploit us.

    — Oluwamayowa George (@Wana____) November 30, 2016

  • For The First Time Ever, These Badass Women Will Take Nigeria To The Winter Olympics

For The First Time Ever, These Badass Women Will Take Nigeria To The Winter Olympics

It’s totally okay if you’ve never heard of the Winter Olympics before, very few Nigerians have. And it’s no surprise that it’s not popular around these parts; African countries rarely participate because only a handful experience snowy weather.

But for the first time in history, 3 Nigerian women are determined to take the country to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Houston-based Seun Adigun, who represented Nigeria in the 2012 Olympics, is the driver aspirant for the Nigerian Women’s Bobsled team. Her teammates are Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga.

This is a fine and brave move, but there’s a catch. They need funds to get to the Olympics, so they’ve set up a go-fund-me for anyone who wants to donate to the cause.

The trio will need funds for practice and winter gear among other things. Visit Adigun’s go-fund-me page to learn about her story and inspiration and for donations.

We can all make history together with a little giving. Thanks to these awesome women, Nigeria will make it’s debut at the Winter Olympics.

  • Nigerians With Two Heads: Meet The Teenage Maths Genius

We all know how difficult mathematics is. In fact, left to us, they should just remove it from the syllabus!

Imagine our surprise when we saw that 14-year-old Ebbah Wyse represented Nigeria in the 2016 African Mathematics Olympiad in Pretoria and won gold!

He of course had to qualify at the national level before he went on to the inter-country stage. He led the Nigerian Olympiads with a 90% score.

Please, is it this same brain we are all carrying about, or is there something we need to add to our own?

Ebbah is a student of Greensprings Secondary School, Lagos. His schoolmate, Chidera Anakua also won the bronze medal in South Africa.

Please, join us in hailing these young geniuses! These are our own Albert Einsteins in the making.

  • Professor Akunyili’s Daughter, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Just Smashed A $1.1M Auction Record With Her Work

Not everytime talk about how Wizkid is taking over Africa. Many times, Nigerian artists have smashed records and proved that Nigerians sabi the work.

In November 2016, outstanding artist and daughter to the late iconic Dora Akunyili, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, set a new auction record for her intimate art, ‘Drown’ which sold for $1,092,500-which is over 3 times the initial high estimate.

In the record-breaking ‘Drown’, Njideka created a stunning self-portrait of her husband, Justin.

The painting, which is basically an acrylic, colored pencil and solvent transfer on paper sold for over $1M (N400 million) at Sotheby’s in New York.

She has shown that greatness truly runs in her blood and we couldn’t be more proud of her!

  • This Nigerian Actress Dancing With Her Daughter Is The Cuteness Overload You Need Today

It’s safe to say almost every Nigerian has either seen Iyabo Ojo in a movie before, or at the very least heard her name; she is that popular.

We all know she’s cute. But seeing her shake it with her daughter is just too much cuteness to handle. Just see this:

    https://twitter.com/femifactor/status/802262650251948033

Iyabo Ojo and her daughter Priscilla, are always giving us mummy-daughter vibes. So adorable really!

In case you didn’t know, Priscilla is also an actress. In fact, she won the 2014 Best of Nollywood child awards for her role in ‘Silence’.

    Kudos to these two!

  • Nigerian Women Share Their Public Harassment Stories And We Are Livid!

Street harassment is one of the most annoying/disrespectful things Nigerian women go through regularly. If you’ve ever gone to Yaba market, you will understand how disrespectful most of the traders are, especially towards women.

Upset by what women go through in the hands of these men, Twitter user, UPNEPA, asked women to share their stories.

    https://twitter.com/UPNEPA/status/801860572157513728

And believe it or not, the responses will leave you shocked and angry.

    https://twitter.com/Dinma__/status/801929500527390720
    https://twitter.com/TheRealWunmi/status/802087677197713408

    https://twitter.com/Zee_Salaudeen/status/802060949704294400

The fact that Nigerian women continue to be publicly harassed and disrespected by certain men shows how low society generally regards women. Women should be able to move freely and safely regardless of whatever outfit she has on. Women must be seen as human beings, not objects that can picked on, talked down on and tossed aside. We all have a responsibility to speak and act against any form of assault around us.

  • Can We All Come Together To Applaud The Genius That Is This Hilarious Advert?

Nigerian advertisers are notorious for dumbing down their messages, because they feel most of us don’t have the brain to understand it. Most times, they end up using comedy to pass these messages across, which is fine.

And that’s exactly what Airtel did this time. But this advert will make you laugh so hard, you might end up rolling on the floor! Just look at:

    https://twitter.com/macpetrus/status/801318107864334336

This Nigerian Footballer Balanced A Ball On His Head And Cycled 64 Miles In Lagos

First of all, we are happy something good is coming out of Nigeria. Since the Recession wahala, there’s been very little to laugh or even joke about.

Now, one of us is very likely going to make the Guinness World Records for carrying a football on his head and cycling 64 miles.

His name is Harrison Chinedu, and no one has carried out this amazing feat before, so there’s really no World Record to break.

I mean he rode from the outskirts of Lagos, all the way to Surulere, dodged countless potholes and numerous bad drivers! This is actually insanely awesome!

Guinness World Record people, why have you not put his name in the book already?

If you guys don’t put it, we will fight you!

  • #Throwback: That Time Agbani Darego Gave Nigeria International Exposure

In November 2001, a beautiful 18-year-old represented Nigeria at the Miss World Beauty Pageant.

Nigerians, and in fact blacks, held little hope for her winning, because there’d never being a black Miss World of native African before.

Imagine everyone’s surprise when she actually won.

We remember everyone celebrating when she was crowned; it was like the whole of Nigeria had won a lottery!
