Could This Girl Be The Next Nigerian Supermodel?

Celebrity photographer and musician, TY Bello is famous for taking breathtaking photos with exceptional lighting.

She recently photographed Nigerian-British rapper, Tinie Tempah for the cover of the prestigious THISDAY style magazine.

Well, she happened to have randomly walked into the shoot while hawking her agege bread and made the picture even more beautiful.

Falling in love with the photo and the lady’s gracefulness, TY Bello via her Twitter and Instagram pages expressed her interest in meeting her and probably making her a model.

Do you know who she is? We hope she is found and we look forward to seeing her grace beautiful magazine covers and runways.

Wale’s Response To An American Fan Who Dissed Olamide is Beyond Epic!

Despite having African origins, some African Americans appear to lack basic knowledge of African culture and more specifically, Nigerian culture.

The most elaborate wedding of January 2016 i.e #Tsquared2016 happened on the 30th of the month and the pomp and fair shook Lagos.

Coincidentally, Wale came into the country around the time of the wedding.

Are you pondering what we’re pondering?

But of course, he made an appearance at the wedding and even took pictures with his Nigerian musician friends, Olamide and Wizkid.

But because people don’t mind their business and like to criticise what doesn’t appear normal to them, an American follower dissed Olamide’s shoes on Wale’s Instagram page.

Being the true Nigerian that he is, he didn’t mince words and dished it right back.

  • This Nigerian Artist Gives A New Face To Nigerian Stereotypes

This Nigerian Artist Gives A New Face To Nigerian Stereotypes

One of the things that has accompanied Nigeria’s vast cultural diversity is stereotypes.

Naturally, stereotypes aren’t necessarily true and can draw lines of division. Sometimes they are hilarious and this artist brought the hilarious side of some of these common stereotypes into his art.

The 22 year old graduate of Geophysics from Covenant University uses the Japanese animation, Chibi art style, to create his art pieces.

The Chibi art style originated from the appearance of the Japanese anime characters and has been used to create several other graphic art.

Ajoku David Uchenna shares tribal bonds from the Igbo and Yoruba tribes of Nigeria and got inspired by the common cultural stereotypes on Nigerian Twitter.

He aspires to create more art in preparation of a comic series similar to Archie and Juggle head, done Naija style, of course.

    Bayo, The Yoruba Demon.

    Emeka, The Igbo demon.

All his characters bear tails because he believes that demons aren’t necessarily Yoruba and that Nigerians generally love to live the baby boy/girl lifestyle, wearing nice trad and turning up at Owambe parties.

.. And this one for Owambe lovers.

David also doubles as a photographer and works at a Nigerian NGO ACSI when he isn’t creating art.

  • This Is Another Sign That 2016 Is The Year Of Trailer Accidents

This Is Another Sign That 2016 Is The Year Of Trailer Accidents

There are trailers and there are trailers. Only one month into 2016 and a lot of trailers have jammed people both locally and internationally.

It all started when Kanye West changed his album name from Swish to Waves.

    https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/692161181562310656

Wiz Khalifa had something to say about it. Maybe he was pained, we really can’t say.

The sub was caught and this tweet followed.

    https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/692203447052013568

About 12 hours after the little drama, Wiz Khalifa was tweeting jejely about KK which apparently was his line of weed….

When trailer came to jam him and Amber Rose that didn’t even know anything about it.

Being the Queen of epic clap backs, Amber shot back with a much bigger trailer.

    Hayyy!!

And after finding out KK meant “Khalifa Kush”…..

    Kanye stylishly dropped this tweet.

    https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/692449710452379648

Perhaps he was angry at Wiz Khalifa for changing his number.

And he tweeted his own version of an apology.

    Na wa oh.

What the Hell Was Rihanna Thinking?

Yesterday, Rihanna posted a picture on her Twitter apparently listening to her eagerly-awaited album ANTI.

We promise we’re not throwing shade but Rihanna looks like she has questions…

    1. Why doesn’t Rihanna look impressed? Did the album not tap?

    2. Is she asking herself if she should have asked Adele to feature on one track?

    3. Or maybe she’s asking herself if she was truly invited to Toolz’s wedding.

    4. Perhaps she’s asking herself if she can get into the headphone business and clean out like Dr Dre.

    5. Maybe, just maybe, she’s asking herself how her Nigerian fans will afford her album at N300 to the Dollar.

    6. Could Donald Trump actually become the President of America?”. If so, will she be deported?

    7. Or could she be wondering if Arsene Wenger will EVER buy a striker?

    8. It’s possible she’s wondering if Lil’ Kesh should actually have won the Next Rated award at the Headies.

    9. Or could it be that she’s wondering if she got some of Dasuki’s money by mistake?

Whatever it is sha, we’re eagerly awaiting this album. Hopefully, it’s amazing.

So what do you think Rihanna is asking herself in this picture?

21 Things To Never Say To A Woman During An Argument
    https://twitter.com/SageSeid/status/690110909432332288
On Thursday, there was a prolonged – honestly annoying – argument by Nigerians about what to say or not say to a woman when you’re having an argument. You may not have been present for the argument, but we don’t want to attend any funerals, so we made a list of the tweets for you:

    1. “You’re wrong”

Once you say that, you might as well place an order for your coffin. A woman is never wrong in an argument.

    2. “Calm down”

Start praying for that man, because he’s about to never have peace again. You people should learn. No woman that’s ever been told to calm down actually calms down.

    3. “You’re overreacting”

Under no circumstances, should this leave your mouth. I mean, you can think it, but do not so much as breathe it out.

    4. “Let’s talk about it tomorrow”

No one has patience for that! Also what are you doing that we can’t talk about it now?

    5. “Go straight to the point”

Wow! You don’t seem to want the argument to end. Let her make all her secondary points before getting to the primary point.

    6. “Okay”

LOL! After the long essay, you think you should say “Okay”?

    7. “You won’t understand”

Are you trying to say she’s stupid? For real?

    8. “Do what you want”

What’s this one saying? Please behave and give your opinion so she can yell at you for it.

    9. “Is that why you’re angry?”

Wait, what? The reason is not good enough? Guys need to learn!

    10. “It’s not that deep”

    Wow.

    11. “Whatever”

You cannot show flippancy when arguing with your woman, all she wants to see is remorse!

    12. “Why are you being so emotional?”

When you say this, she will go dangerously still. Don’t breathe, bruh.

    13. “You just want to be angry”

Now, you’re just inviting the devil in.

    14. “This is too much drama”

    Really? Say God.

    15. “Seen”

It’s like you people want the stress. Why would you say ‘seen’ when another person is angry?

    16. “I don’t know what you want me to say”

    Rude!

    17. “So what do you want from me?”

Sigh! An apology, for you to have a clue…the list goes on.

    18. “Can I talk?”

No!! She really doesn’t want to hear from you right now!

    19. “Is it that time of the month?”

That one was your own fault.

    20. SILENCE

    LMAO! Bye bro.

    21. LAUGHTER

RIP to that brother over there.

Africa in all her glory has witnessed the good, the sad and the really ugly. This Twitter page @Africanarchives is dedicated to portraying history of  African people. These tweets show what Africa looked like and the things Africans experienced in the hands of the colonial masters.

    1. The last Queen of Rwanda.

Her murder triggered the Rwandan genocide of 1994.

    2. King Leopold III of Belgium.

    3. The brutality they faced under his reign.

    4. These little African children on a slave ship.

    5. The Namibian genocide of 1904.

Piers Morgan Claps Back At A Critic In Yoruba And It’s Just Too Funny!
Piers Morgan has been known to give epic clapbacks to those who come for him or have something negative to say about his opinion, in the past. So when he commented in a tweet about how Asia’s growth has been astronomical compared to the United States and a follower had choice words to say, trust Piers to not keep quiet about it. He tweeted:

    And got this reply:

@piersmorgan America has stability. China sells cheap shit. People are realising this. Your not very good at economics are you?

    — daz boot (@FacileTalk) January 19, 2016

    Piers served him right back!

I’m better at economics than you are at grammar. It’s ‘you’re’. > RT @FacileTalk Your not very good at economics are you?

    — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 19, 2016

That wasn’t all! Someone else – a Nigerian this time – decided to get involved.

@piersmorgan Hi, Piers, you have to accept the fact that English is not everyone’s first language. Thanks.

    — Okehie Kelechi A. (@alkelly_a) January 19, 2016

His comment was reasonable enough. But Piers didn’t seem to think so. He replied in Yoruba!

In English, it means: “Don’t be annoyed. It’s not a difficult language”.

But Piers forgot something vital though. All Nigerians don’t speak Yoruba.

Dear @piersmorgan, not all Nigerians speak Yoruba.

This Guy Shares His Depressing Experience After Visiting The Slavery Museum In Lagos
Kay Sesan, an activist and freelance journalist, in a series of tweets shared his experience from his visit to the Badagry Heritage Museum.

I held these chains for less than 1 minute. I’m not a weak man & they were heavy. Africans had them on for 6 months. pic.twitter.com/S0UXuEpTMC

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

At times i was too emotional to take photos, at one point I just had to sit. A true house of horrors. Because that’s exactly what it was.

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

There’s been a historic injustice committed against the descendants of enslaved Africans across the diaspora. A trauma not fully recognised

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

Theory of Epigenetic inheritance is no longer dismissed. Trauma can pass genetically. Remember this when considering the impact of slavery.

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

*Small aside* 1st Church established in what’s now Nigeria was founded in Badagry. By the same people who considered Africans a commodity.

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

Following on from that the 1st (western education) primary school in Nigeria was established by subsequent western Christian missionaries.

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

The techniques used to subjugate enslaved Africans….I don’t think it’s appropriate to share here. All I’ll say is reparations must happen

    — Lamo’s Adjutant (@kay_sesen) January 13, 2016

Kay’s experience makes you reflect on how the passage of time dulls the memory of the pain and injustices that Africans faced in slavery times.

Claire also plans to find more young boys who dropped out of school to join the barrow business due to poverty and set up a trust fund with able administrators to help as many as possible go back to school.

As there wouldn’t be anyone to send money back to their families when they begin school, Yakubu decided he didn’t want to go back to school anymore.

So Claire decided that the boys would still be paid the money they would have made if they were barrow pushing –while they go to school. This way they will be comfortable going back to school, while being aware that they will not also be lagging behind in their responsibilities.

She also made the journey to boys’ houses to know where the live and it has further strengthened her resolve to help them out of their situation.

It is about time for the world to get that Nigerian women are amazing and winning at life.

When Youtube lifestyle channel, BattaBox took to their Facebook to find out if Nigerians could marry a white person, there were reactions in the video and more from the comments section.

Some people argued that Nigerians marry white people solely for financial security and other material gains.

Some even said it was against Nigerian culture to marry a foreigner.

David Lynch, a Caucasian man married to a Nigerian woman, Omonefe had this to say on their Facebook page.

“I am oyibo and I married my Nigerian wife, Omonefe Lynch for the benefits. Especially stew, pounded yam, egusi soup and Star beer. Plus she has given me beautiful children, she has inspired me to be successful in my life and she has enriched me with Nigerian culture and the opportunity to travel to Nigeria often and enjoy the beautiful country. I have benefited from the marriage more than she has.”

This Facebook Post Shows That Your Life Can Be Blessed Through Social Media!
Social media undoubtedly has a huge influence in our lives, whether we like it or not. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the rest are our daily bread. When we wake up in the morning, we instantly reach for our phones just to find out what happened while we were out cold. Just like there are two sides to everything, social media has its good and bad parts. It’s a tool we can use however we want to.

Remember Edward Onoriode, the police officer who defuses bombs for a living?

He’s one of the reasons why we haven’t lost our faith in the Nigerian police. Well, he’s here to inspire us again with words of wisdom. This time, it’s about how using social media positively helped him get a job.

Edward is currently a peace ambassador to Africa under AUPOL (Africa Union Police) and he got this job all thanks to social media – Facebook to be exact.

    Read his story:

What type of friends do you keep online? Millions of people are on Facebook but are not making the best out of it. What has most of you people gained being on Facebook everyday? What type of friends do most of you keep on Facebook? Are you on Facebook to read gossips alone, make jokes alone, criticise politicians alone, ridicule religious people alone, scam people or defraud innocent people? Are you on Facebook looking for that important connection that will skyrocket you to the next level in life, do business online, post pictures alone, writes stories, talk about sex and relationship alone…etc…? What type of friends do you keep online? Or are you the type that is always on Facebook hunting for the opposite sex or same sex just to satisfy your sexual urge? Are your Facebook friends the type that will bring out the best in you? Are they the type that will make you become something out of nothing? Remember, there are so many opportunities being online mostly on Facebook. Are you taking advantage of those wide range opportunities? Or you are just on Facebook for Facebook sake? Many years ago, I kept my identity very secret. Only a very few Facebook friends knew am a police officer because I wasn’t too proud to tell the world am a policeman. I felt I’ll be stereotyped if I come out open. I never knew I was only deceiving myself and fooling myself all those while. I was ashamed to be identified as a Policeman until I met Mr Remi Adeoye on Facebook who is so proud of his job and display it without minding whose ox is being gored. He changed my psyche and perception about the job I do for a living. He made me to understand I should be proud of what I do for a living. He made me to realize I can change the face and thinking of most police officers if I come out open. He made me to realize with my boldness to issues, I can change the perception most people have towards the police. He made me to realize my achievement in life is because of the job I do for a living despite being a rank and file in the police something many senior police officers haven’t achieved and are dreaming to achieve. All his advise were well noted by me and I thought about them for a while and that’s why I came out open. Today, am so proud to be called a Police officer and an EOD personnel. Me and Mr Remi Adeoye haven’t really met in person. We are just friends online. He love some of my articles and I love almost all of his articles. We bonded like father and son. He chat with me like we are age mate. He advise me like am his biological son. He talk to me like a colleague, brother, friend and son that have knew each other for ages. He mentor me both on marital issues, social issues, economical issues, financial management, religious matters and how to be professional in my job and duty. He’s one Facebook friend I’ll forever be grateful to have and I want to take that relationship beyond Facebook. In fact, he’s my Facebook man with a golden heart of the year and beyond. Last year, we were chatting as usual and he told me he’d like to recommend me as a peace ambassador to Africa under AUPOL (Africa Union Police). I thought he was joking. He requested for my particulars and I reluctantly gave it to him not really hoping anything good will come out of it due to the Nigerian factor. Two months after I gave Mr Remi Adeoye my particulars, i was on duty one faithful morning when I received a call from Abuja that I should report at Abuja the following day by 7am for screening and interview at the Directorate of peacekeeping mission camp. I was mute for minutes and all I could say afterward was “YES SIR!” I was confused when I dropped the call. “How can I be in Abuja the following day by 7am without preparing for such unprecedented journey?” I thought to myself. Abuja from Lagos is not Ibadan from Lagos nor Sango from Lagos. I quickly sent some messages to Mr Remi Adeoye confirming the call I just received and he confirmed it and told me to report at Abuja at the said time because some inspectors are actually coming from Egypt, Uganda, and Kenya to screen prospective volunteers. Immediately, I placed a call to my wife and told her to leave her shop and head home to help me get some few belongings that am going to Abuja that night. That day, I took a night bus to Abuja hoping that I’ll arrive at Abuja hopefully before 6am and prepare for the screening that is slated for 7am. Unfortunately for me, the bus I boarded was involved in a minor motor accident and I ended up arriving Abuja at 12:30pm. It was really emotional. I don’t have Mr Remi Adeoye number and the only means I can reach him is via Facebook. I quickly sent him some messages telling him all that happened on my way to Abuja. Luckily for me, Mr Remi Adeoye is very penchant and always online on Facebook. He replied me immediately and told me what to do. When I got to the screening camp, my name has already been strucked out because I wasn’t around when the inspectors called my name. I quickly sent another message to Mr Remi Adeoye again, he replied me and told me he’ll call the inspector on phone to admit me which he did. I was admitted and I was the last person to be screened that day. Sadly, I didn’t perform well due to pressure, stress, so many thoughts on my head and emotions. The following day was for interview/exercise. That day, the inspectors said they want only one EOD officer to represent EOD personnel for interview/exercise. Luckily for me, my colleagues told me to step up and represent them. I was glad, and I did my best even though I never prepared for such exercise and performance and I did very well in the exercise. That singular performance was how I was selected among over 500 officers across the nation that applied for AUPOL job. You see! One Facebook friend who I met online was able to pilot me and caterpult me to what I am today and who I’ll become tomorrow. Many people has criticised me by being too regular on Facebook. Some said; “what have you gained being a Facebook regular and celebrity?” “What have you gained being online daily?” ” You are jobless that’s why you are always on Facebook writing rubbish….” That’s what many people often told me and I never mind, I kept focus and do what gives me joy in a diplomatic way even though many people don’t agree with me. Today, that jobless boy is a AU staff and a peace ambassador. That jobless boy don’t only earn naira monthly but he’s also being paid in dollars monthly now. That jobless boy is now touring many Africa countries on a UN jet eating continental dishes. That jobless boy don’t pay for his internet services anymore but access the internet for free. That jobless boy is given a free accommodation, free healthcare services, free meal, free flight around east Africa countries and will be given a certificate as a peace ambassador when he complete his mandate with AU after 12 months or 24 months maximum. I ask again, what type of friends do you keep online? Have they been able to add value to your life? Or are they the types that are just good for gossips, hate speech and propagandas? Pls, make good use of being online!!! Not everybody you throw insults at due to differences in political issues, religion, relationship arguments… etc… as you don’t know who may be your helper in life. I want to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to Mr Remi Adeoye for granting me this opportunity to be part of those chosen to represent EOD, The Nigerian Police and Nigeria on international assignment and I promise I’ll do my best not to disappoint you, myself, my family, EOD, the Nigerian Police, Nigeria and Africa at large. Thank you very much Mr Remi Adeoye!!!

  • Nigerian Celebrities Teach Us 7 Ways To Be A Frenemy

Nigerian Celebrities Teach Us 7 Ways To Be A Frenemy

Are you someone’s frenemy? How do you know who your frenemy is?

Don’t look like that. We’ll explain to you. A frenemy is simply someone who acts like a friend but is actually an enemy.

    Remember these guys?

Here are 7 of Nigerian celebrity frenemies

    1. Fight today, shoot a video together after two weeks.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFolJfCM-YY
After fighting dirty at the Headies and on twitter, Olamide featured in a Mavins video only two weeks after. Awkward!

    2. Throw shade at each other and act cool while at it.

Wizkid and Davido have not had a real fight yet but have been lowkey throwing epic shade at each other.

    3. Say how you really feel about them on the internet.

After working under the same label for a few years, Wizkid and Skales kissed goodbye on a not-so-good note.

    4. Throw shade at your husband/wife.

Yes! The very dramatic way 9ice and Toni Payne’s 1 year marriage ended . It was rather awkward that his marriage broke up after his controversial song “Once bitten twice shy song”. They’re cool now though.

    5. Cook a really mean diss track about someone you know so well.

Ruggedman was mad that his supposed BFF 9ice, didn’t respond to the nasty rumours of an affair with his then wife, Toni Payne.

    6. Break up with bae on short notice and give them a shout out on stage after a few years.

Clapbacks and snubs after their heartbreaking split of 2012,  D’banj and Donjazzy have kissed and made up but we all know it can never be as it was in the past.

    7. Take a cute selfie with a rival.

Not every time throw shade or fight, sometimes take a cute selfie with your biggest rival like Genevieve and Omotola. [zkk_poll post=16139 poll=content_block_standard_format_9]

  • All The Things You Should Know About The Lassa Fever Virus

All The Things You Should Know About The Lassa Fever Virus

In 2014, the Ebola virus broke out in Nigeria but was quickly contained by swift response from the health ministries and organisations in the country.

However, 2016 is seeing the break out of yet another deadly virus that also kills as fast as the Ebola virus. Here are some things that you should know about the virus:

    1. In the same deadly nature of viruses, the Lassa virus is a hemorrhagic virus that has lead to the annual death of over 5000 people since it was discovered in Lassa, Borno state in 1969.

In 2016, cases of the virus has been reported across  Kano, Niger, Ondo, Bauchi and recently Abuja. There have been 41 deaths out of the 93 recorded cases.

    2. Did you know that the Mastomy rat is the vector of the Lassa virus?

Exposure to urine, blood or faeces of the infected rats is the most common mode of contracting the disease. Please stop eating rats oh, don’t say we didn’t tell you.

    3. Like the Ebola virus, it can also be transmitted through exchange of bodily fluids and contact with infected persons.

Having sex with infected persons also poses a high risk of transmission.

    4. Because it belongs to a deadly family of viruses called Arenaviridae, there is no known vaccine against the Lassa virus.

Are you afraid yet? Keep calm because an antiviral drug, Ribavirin has shown to be effective in treating the early stages of the virus.

    5. Most times, 80% of the patients experience only mild symptoms of the disease.

The symptoms manifest between 6-21 days of contact with the virus. Some of the common symptoms include: Sore throat, slight fever, headache, weakness and fever. Other severe symptoms are bloody diarrhea and vomiting, deafness, bleeding from mouth, nose, gum and eyes, swelling of the face and shock.

    6. Time to get to work and get hygiene levels up.

The virus is not the end of the world though. Keeping the environment clean and free of rats is a major key in prevention of the disease. Isolation and careful interaction with infected patients, proper disposal of garbage are also very important.

    7. Treatment is free in Nigeria.

Yaay! Early detection is very important. The phone numbers to contact when symptoms are noticed are: 08093810105, 08163215251, 08031571667 and 08135050005.

POLL: Who Do You Think Stole Nigeria’s 2016 Budget?
So, to usher in a new year and kick things off, the documents which contains Nigeria’s 2016 budget went missing on the 12th of January. Submitted by the office of the Presidency in December to the National Assembly, the documents—which spell out about US$ 31 billion in spending disappeared into thin air.

This meant that the Nigerian Senate could not go ahead with the debate as planned. Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike had choice words to say about the situation.

Are You Getting A Blood Transfusion Or Know Someone Who Is? Be Very Careful!
Seems like we’re not safe from even more things than we can imagine in the country. Even the very thing that’s supposed to give us life is not exempted!

Gbagada General Hospital’s Blood Bank was recently shut down for doing something very dangerous. They blood bank keeps HIV positive and HIV negative blood in the same place!

The Lagos State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Health Services, ordered the closure of the blood bank section of the hospital, until further notice.

This means that there have probably been blood mix-ups on a regular.

That a high percentage of all HIV cases in Nigeria is caused by blood transfusion is not at all surprising. In fact, it makes perfect sense now.

Not surprising at all! So, please, when next you or someone you know is getting blood transfused, unless it’s from a reliable source, please have the blood retested. Or to prevent all doubts, check out Life Bank App whose mission is to prevent such occurrences as this one.
  • Nigerians Abroad Are Returning Home, But Some Of Them Live In A Bubble

Nigerians Abroad Are Returning Home, But Some Of Them Live In A Bubble
Before country’s independence, it used to be that Nigerians went abroad for their higher education, because we didn’t have a lot of universities then. But most of them always returned to put their knowledge to good use in th coutry. Examples are Odumegwu Ojukwu, Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti just to mention a few.

Shortly after independence, Nigerians began migrating to the diaspora, some for better education, but more in search of greener pastures.

But in recent times, we’ve noticed a growing trend in the country and it’s been happening for the past few years now. Second generation Nigerians are beginning to return in droves to their home country, because they’ve realised that there are massive opportunities here.

This video “Nigeria: the “repats” who’ve returned” deals with this.

Michael Ugwu, who works with Sony West Africa, is one of the returnees. Born and bred in the UK, he sees Lagos as home now and has no regrets with moving base to the fatherland.

While watching this video, you can’t help but have the notion that the repats in this video don’t know what they are on about. A prime example is Aisha Shaba, who returned in 2012 and is now a successful actress in the country.

In the video, she asks the question “Why are you begging” with a look of contempt and disgust.
That she could easily give him some money, but instead lectures the child on why he shouldn’t beg is indicative of the fact that she must live in a bubble. Her statement that “They have no reason to beg. Nigeria is in a different system” is further indicative of that.

Isn’t it better to just ignore them if she didn’t want to give them money? No one chooses that kind of life for themselves.

Another repatriate, Baba Epega, believes that Nigerian is in an era of meritocracy. The government has changed and Buhari is in power. All we can say is…

As much as this video  tries to tell the “I just got back and I’m doing well” story and the system of things currently in the country, it doesn’t do justice to matter as it’s about a select few, who have beliefs that don’t apply to majority.

All in all, we are glad that our brothers and sisters are coming home.

Vincent Adeoba knows something that a lot of us don’t, which is that there’s no such thing as a perfect opportunity. We have to use what we have to get what we want.

Starting a business with just 200 naira, in a hostel room, while at Obafemi Awolowo University, Vincent has grown his business to over 2,000,000 naira a month!

Posted by Vincent Adeoba Joytohumanity on Friday, January 8, 2016

    Read his story:

I started my first business with #200 (Two Hundred Naira) because these market women supported me. If you are conversant with Obafemi Awolowo University, Central Market, you will probably know the two women in this picture Iya Yemisi and Iya Quadri, the other man is the husband of the old woman that I used to buy groundnut in bulk from, she could not make my convocation but she asked her husband to represent her. They are part of my success story as far as my graduation from OAU is concerned. I always share the story of how I started my first business with #200 (a dozen of groundnut and a bag of purewater) in my room in ETF Hostel in my year two because things was so difficult that semester. I have no other alternative than to start something to sustain myself because I was tired of borrowing money from friends to feed and I don’t want to keep pressuring them at home. With determination and hard work, staying awake in the night sometimes even though I have 7am class the following day I grew the business from #200 to #500,000 sales per month and #2,000,000 sales (‪#‎2million‬) per semester. I employed at least six people as managers that I paid their salaries and fed. I moved from being a beggar to someone feeding others. I discovered during that period that we may never discover who God want us to be until we go through tough time. But the whole story cannot be complete without appreciating these women and many others who on many occasions sold crates of egg, tomatoes paste, salt, groundnut, pepper and many other things for me on credit to support me. Also my wonderful room mates especially Seun Adesida, Adewunmi Tolulope, Monday, Isaac Chima and many others who assisted me whenever I wasn’t around. I learnt a lot as the CEO of that business, in fact I became most popular in ETF and Central Market. It also helped me to emerge as Accounting Students President for a whole session. My room was the most frequent room in the hall, we have to run 18 hours per day. I was the seller of last resort especially for those who have gone to read overnight. My best moment in OAU was with these old women in the market. Their distance smiles anytime they see me coming is forever sticked to my memory. The surprising thing is that they are muslims while I am christian. But religion never brought any disagreement between us but instead we cherished each other and shared a lot of things together even personal issues. They took me like their son. We even ate together on many occasions in the market. Sometimes I always wish we can live together in this country without turning our religion differences into a basis for hatred. I believe our differences should bring us closer because it is a strength rather than the weakness we see it as. Our differences should harmonize us rather than tearing us apart. Progress is easily achieved in an atmosphere of love and harmony. My friend life may be tough for you now, but you can be tougher, you can turn your difficulties to opportunities and make something worthwhile out of your life. As at today I am a CEO of my company today “Seravision Brooks Business Solutions”. Although we are still small, my vision is to become like microsoft and provide employment for millions of people all the world. Even if you are from a rich home that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t develop yourself, you can start a business or learn something not because of money as your case may be but because it will serve as a way of developing yourself. You will be able to learn a lot of things that will be useful for you in future. You don’t have excuse for not succeeding. I know your story may be so pathetic and you see it as a reason good to accept failure. Let me tell you something, greatness is in you already, but you have to work hard to bring it out and I know you can. I wish you success in all your endeavors and whatever may happen along the way, never, never, never, never give up and don’t forget to always appreciate people God used to make you who you are. ‪#‎support‬ Sera Sandals Project with just #500 and impact a student life. ‪#‎IamVincentAdeoba‬: I-Lead, I-Inspire, I-Impact. ‪#‎seraschoolsinitiative‬ #shununemployment

    6. Missy Elliot really felt the Shoki dance and just had to do it in her comeback song of 2015.

    Ahh shoki!

    7. And when her dancers choreographed to Olamide’s Shakitibobo.

We hope Nigerian artists get inspired and we look forward to more internationally exposed Nigerian songs.

We often start our NYSC year wishing that it would end right from the beginning. But all who have served will agree that the highlight of the service year is always the Orientation Camp. Oyin Oludipe who is a graduate of Babcock University shared his Camp experience in pictures on Facebook. Oyin, who is a Batch B 2015 corp member serving in Ogun state, captured in 21 pictures some of the occurrences that makes it memorable. What makes his unique are the  tags on his pictures. They are so beautiful it’ll make you wonder if it’s the same NYSC you did, and if you haven’t served already, it’ll make you want to serve your country!

The Case Of Twitter Nigeria Vs Zee World And Telemundo

Foreign TV drama channels are hot these days and the viewers can’t seem to get enough.

From Telemundo to Zee World and K-Drama.

Some people feel otherwise and can’t stand the channels at all.

Someone got bold and requested the removal of the Telemundo and Zee World channels from his DSTV bouquet via their Twitter account.

And when he explained why he really wanted the removal…

    They had this to say..

There were reactions from Nigerian twitter..

The Zee World lovers weren’t having any of it.

    Some clamoured for sports-inclined bouquet.

People who really hate Zee World joined in the conversation.
