There are over 7 billion people on earth today with obviously diverse cultures and ways of life. But why should food cause a huge fight between people of different nationalities?
It all started when Love & Hip-Hop Star, Tammy Rivera shared a picture of a plate of Pounded Yam and Egusi on her Instagram.
Those who found it disgusting commented saying the egusi looked really nasty.
And Nigerians brought the rage of their ancestors (and fuel queues), calling them slaves for daring to bash their beloved Egusi soup.
And then it became a full blown war between Nigerians and anybody that thought Egusi looked gross.
Some Nigerians bashed other people’s foods.
And people’s education and English speaking skills were questioned.
When did weaves and make up have anything to do with Egusi soup?
And while this messy fight was going on, Tammy explained to a fan who really wanted to know how she fell in love with Egusi.
Why are they cursing themselves on another person’s Instagram page over food?
When people that have to queue all night for fuel are calling people with constant supply of electricity slaves.
Not even all Nigerians like Egusi soup but Nigerians still went in to fight like…
When you try to ignorantly bash a Nigerian food but Nigerians came for you like..
Not all foods will be appealing to everybody, we all have our different preferences. However, people should learn about other cultures before commenting or simply just unlook!
Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna has shown that Nigerians will continue to excel at home or even abroad. She was accepted into all 8 Ivy League universities in America.
The 17 year old senior of Elmont High School, Long Island, New York will have taken 13 advanced courses when she graduates.
The Ivy League schools include: Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Dartmouth College, Brown University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.
She was also offered admission by 4 other universities: John Hopkins University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New York University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
She credits her accomplishments to her supportive parents who made sure she appreciated the importance of education and the dedicated teachers of Elmont High School.
She believes her resilience and hard-work also helped her achieve some of her goals. Although she wasn’t born in Nigeria, her visits to the country have inspired her to be of positive impact to Nigeria.
Although she hasn’t decided on a school, Augusta wants to study a science related course and is very interested in research.
The 17 year old upon discovering her school lacked the hi-tech equipment required for her research, went on to apply for an internship in Columbia University so she could continue.
However, she isn’t the first African to achieve this feat.
Blac Chyna is the greatest petty goals of all time. She was dating and had a baby with 26 year old American rapper, Tyga, who dumped her for 18 year old Kylie Jenner.
Kylie Jenner was still underaged (17 years old) when she first started dating Tyga.
She was BFFs with Kim Kardashian until Tyga began dating Kylie.
And Kim didn’t say pim!
As a sharp babe, Blac Chyna sipped her tea and went on to date Kim and Kylie’s brother, Rob Kardashian.
And after 4 months of dating, the couple recently got engaged. If they ever have children, she will be the only woman to continue the Kardashian bloodline. And the only black Kardashian as much as Kylie tries. LOL
Here are 13 ways to be petty, Blac Chyna style:
1. If someone snatches your bae, marry their sibling, God no go vex.
2. If your boyfriend breaks up with you, just go and marry his brother.
3. When the pastor preaches against you in church, don’t put money in the offering box.
4. When someone in church says they know why you’re single and it’s because you won’t submit to a man, and submission is of God. Don’t worry, just steal their own boo.
5. When someone keeps calling you fat, don’t even get mad. Just steal all their food and eat everything of course.
6. Become best friends with your ex’s new bae because you are petty like that.
7. When someone starts preaching in the Danfo, plug your headphones and start singing Princess Vitarah’s “Naija Pussy” really loud.
8. When your boss thinks they’re the new Patience Ozokwor, use the office internet to download torrent files of all the seasonal movies of the past, present and future.
9. When someone begs for “small Jollof rice”, count 10 grains of rice and give it to them. They kuku asked for small rice.
10. When someone throws shade at you on Twitter, send SubDeliveryMan receipts about them.
11. If someone refuses to borrow you something you asked them for, steal it. Since they want to act childish.
12. When your ex gets dumped by the person they left you for, throw a party. Oh and invite the new ex to the party.
Ghanaian condom brand, Fiesta Condoms put out a hilarious but educating animated series about the advantages of using condoms on their Youtube channel.
It is not a surpsrise that Fiesta Condoms are a trademark of DKT International, the non-profit organization that promotes family planning and HIV prevention through social marketing.
They kicked things off on their Youtube channel with this funny skit about a couple that would rather pray away STIs and infections rather than use condoms.
Then, this funny ad tells the story of a hideous STI that terrorizes couples in the land giving them infections. The Superheroes, Fiesta condoms come to the rescue and save the day.
Picture this, after a long day at work or school, you get home really tired and open your fridge to get small chow. To your dismay, someone wrote hateful words all over your food.
This happened to 19 year old biomedical student at Warwick Univeristy, Faramade Ifaturoti, on April 5 when she found racist slur written on her bananas.
Faramade tweeted her disgust, sharing a picture of the bananas which had “Monkey”and “Nigga” boldly written on them. A picture of Donald Trump was also found on her fridge.
She was shocked to have been directly targeted and promptly tweeted at the University accomodation’s Twitter account.
She said “Just entered the kitchen and look at what one of my flatmates has done. I am extremely disgusted @WarwickAccomm. I’m actually fuming! Like what?In 2016? People still behave like this?!”.
The school’s Twitter account responded and has vowed to look into the racist attack.
A racist incident has been widely reported on social media – the University is investigating as a matter of urgency.
— University of Warwick (@uniofwarwick) April 5, 2016
— Warwick Anti-Racism Society (@uwarsoc) April 5, 2016
Some even think she shouldn’t have tweeted the pictures.
The solidarity of Warwick University students for Faramade is admirable. However, the University management should ensure a crackdown on racism to preserve its integrity.
Have you ever wondered why there are no superheroes in Nigeria? With no fuel, no light, and the pressure to marry, how will they succeed? Here are 20 reasons superheroes cannot survive in Nigeria:
There are several ways of handling issues in Nigeria which hardly ever includes keeping calm.
Nigerian senators usually solve issues by either making serious banter…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv0W5aQhqMc
Because Nigerian women’s lives don’t matter.
Or fight things out, street style.
Because decorum is too much stress.
On April 4, Nasarawa state lawmakers left trash for LAWMA.
And fought at the state House of Assembly.
Apparently, Governor Al-Makura’s appointment of 11 new council chairmen was what caused the wahala.
Some of the senators opposed the Governor’s motion and accused those in support of receiving 50 million Naira bribe from him.
The newly appointed council chairmen were supposed to be succeeding the former council leaders whose appointments ended on March 24.
These senators disagreed because they thought the appointments were illegal.
Na wa oh!
We didn’t vote them for this sha.
When those in charge of making the laws that guide the country are actually lawless.
What a shame!
Watch full details of the fight here:
Perhaps, if the passion and anger of this fight is channelled into the Agatu crisis plaguing Nasarawa state, the problem could be solved quicker than imagined.
President Buhari is known for his many travels for several diplomatic” purposes.
Within his first 181 days in office, he had already visited 10 countries. And in spite of the fuel scarcity problem currently plaguing the country, he has gone on another trip to the dismay of many Nigerians.
Nigerians being kings of humor, who can make jokes out of any situation have trolled the president with #ThingsBuhariWouldAttend.
1. Because, pencils cam magically grow the economy.
In the beginning, there was a Twitter account (now deactivated) dedicated to the spread of slander and mostly hateful subliminal messages.
Nigerians on Twitter feared this account and everyone tried to tread really carefully.
I mean, you could just spit and all the receipts of your life would be spread like a map all over Nigerian Twitter.
People sent in anonymous hateful messages and even receipts of their “friends” for him to share with the Twitterverse.
Receipts: (Definition) Evidence in form of tweets, DMs, recorded phone conversations or any other information that can be used to verify/refute slander.
Spectators cheered on, while friendships and reputations were ruined with the “keep me anon” messages.
Others secretly prayed for the destruction of this account of terror.
And in the wee hours of March 30, while green-white-green Twitter slept…
SubDeliveryMan was in the hot seat.
An account popped out of nowhere and claimed to have hacked into SubDeliveryMan’s account.
This hacker is shaking the account down for a whole $3000 and asked for the deactivation of SubDeliveryMan page after they begged not to release their names.
Surprisingly, the account known for promoting cyber-bullying was quickly deactivated.
Women are trying oh. Apart from loosing blood monthly, most of us have to deal with period cramps!
Really terrible ones that can be so bad that some of us actually pass out from the pain have to be admitted into the hospital.
We’ve tried everything from taking hot drinks to pain killers to visiting the hospital for injections to drinking Yoyo bitters or ogogoro or dry gin.
But now, there’s something else that might just do the trick.
Legendary American actress, Whoopi Goldberg, has a cure for menstrual pain. Medical Marijuana!
The business which is based in San Francisco in the U.S of A is called Whoopi and Maya and is founded by the veteran actress and Maya Elisabeth, the founder of Om Edibles, a company that’s been treating marijuana as a superfood since 2008.
The Whoopi & Maya line will be in four forms.
• A raw sipping chocolate infused with either CBD* or THC*, which can be mixed in liquids (such as warm milk) or eaten.
• THC-infused tincture.
• A THC-infused bath soak described as “profoundly relaxing.”
• A topical rub.
THC means “tetrahydrocannabinol” and CBD means “cannabidiol”.
Whoopi hopes her products will provide “an alternative for relieving the pain and discomfort associated with menstruation.”
The weed line was inspired by her experience from a lifetime of difficult periods and cannabis literally being the only thing that gave her relief.
According to Whoopi this line will allow women to control the pain and still go about their business.
She says that, “Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work. This, you can put it in your purse. You can put the rub on your lower stomach and lower back at work, and then when you get home you can get in the tub for a soak or make tea, and it allows you to continue to work throughout the day.”
The products will be available in U.S from April in select dispensaries.
We can’t wait for this product to be available in Nigeria. If not, it’s online shopping to the rescue!
Cultural appropriation.
Definition: The use of elements of one culture by members of a different culture (Wikipedia).
White people have been known to do stuff generally associated with Black people.
Like Kim Kardashian’s cornrows.
Or Iggy Azalea’s rap style.
Or Rachel Dolezal pretending to be Black.
Cultural appropriation is a problem not just because White people do a Black hairstyle, but because when they do it, it is considered new or trendy. It erases Black people as if they don’t matter.
Black people have always spoken against it. If White people want to borrow some peculiarities from Black culture, they should be willing to embrace everything else.
But this girl took it to another level. She physically came after a White guy at her university, because he had dreadlocks.
In a video that has since gone viral, the girl and her friend are seen confronting the young man. She asked the guy why he had dreads and was appropriating her culture.
As much as she’s standing up for an important issue, she rather went about it the wrong way.
Violence never settles anything. And this is bullying!
Also we have some important questions.
Do Black people own dreads?
Do Black people not use Filipino, Malaysian, Indian, European and Brazilian hair?
Do they not dye their hair various colours?
Watch the video.
This topic about cultural appropriation will not end anytime soon. Its history goes back to slavery. But we need to be aware of what is appropriation and what isn’t.
It seems like we have it good here in Nigeria when it comes to random body searches.
A Twitter user shared these pictures of Ugandan officers conducting an over-thorough body search, before people could enter the Mandela National Stadium for the match between Uganda Cranes and Burkina Faso.
The Nigerian Super Eagles will not participate in the 2017 AFCON tournament after their failure to qualify for the games.
Although they had several shots at qualifying, their first leg match against Egypt which resulted in a draw lowered their chances.
To add salt to injury, Chad dropped out of the game stating financial reasons and the Eagles were left with one chance: Win or Get Lost!
The Eagles faced the Egyptian Pharaohs for the second time on March 29. Unfortunately for them, the Egyptian Pharaohs came hard this time, scored the only game of the match and earned a 5 point lead.
When you realise the Nigerian Super Eagles will be missing the AFCON tournament for the second time.
Quick story, boy meets girl and they both fall in love. But what happens when the girl starts to feel like relationship prefect after 10 years and no ring?
This Twitter user Doye shared the story of his friend’s unfortunate break up.
So my friend’s girlfriend just called off their 10 year old relationship cos he has refused to propose… Loooool, I can’t stop laughing
Sure, the world may be changing and times moving fast. Cultures that were snubbed in the past are slowly becoming recognised and accepted. However, a hidden prejudice towards Africans (black people generally) still exists today, whether we like it or not.
This was shown by the airport security at the Duesseldorf airport.
Belgium-based politician and activist, Assanta Kanko, who is originally from Burkina Faso was embarrassed when the airport security insisted on questioning her mixed race daughter.
The politician who is married to a Belgian man took to Twitter to share her ordeal.
According to her, after presenting all necessary documents with fingerprints, the security man asked her 8 year old daughter, “Is this really your mama?”.
Apparently, this is not a new thing. Popular Nigerian writer, Chika Unigwe sympathised with her and shared her own experience.
@Assita_Kanko lol. I've been asked that at the airport (in Atlanta, I think). It must be something in the airport police handbook 🙂 🙂
Agreed, kidnapping and abduction of children is a global problem. However, smarter and less embarrassing checks should be devised because there are many mixed race children in the world.
Nigerian artists are showing that they’re not here to play! From Oscar Ukonu to Yagazie Emezi to Laolu Senbanjo, they are repping us big time.
And more are joining the list.
This is Anthony Majekodunmi.
He is a writer and designer. And also the artist behind these beautiful works of art.
They’re all paintings and not actual pictures. How incredible is that?!
A large percentage of Nigerians reading this right now are currently battling fuel scarcity and erratic supply of electricity.
When NEPA refuses to bring the light and fuel for generator is also scarce.
In a dire situation as this, you’d think Nigerian leaders would try and calm the already angry and impatient Nigerians.
However, President Buhari’s media aide during an interview with Channels Television dropped his very ‘wise’ solution to Nigeria’s electricity problems.
He claimed that petroleum pipeline vandals were responsible for the poor supply of electricity.
He went on to shock Nigerians with this statement.
Abike Dabiri, the Senior Adviser to President Buhari on Foreign Relations and Diaspora, came under fire for making this statement on Twitter.
This is the first tweet that most people saw. Looking at this alone, it’s not surprising that she was attacked. But let’s back track a bit. Was she wrong to say this or is this a case of her statement being taking out of context? Let us go back to the genesis of the whole matter.
Remember the Nigerian woman who became the first African ever to be an Inspector in the New York Police Department?
Funmilayo Obe set a record and made Nigerians proud.
Well, it turns out that Abike Dabiri paid her a courtesy visit while in the U.S.
Very proud of Nigerian born Funmi Obe. First Black woman to become New York’s Deputy Chief of Police. pic.twitter.com/tMubi3J4In
As much as some young Nigerians detest the idea of doing the mandatory one year youth service, a lot of those that have done theirs will testify that it was fun — especially the Orientation Camp experience.
Corps members are finding various ways to do good and give back to society at their various places of primary assignment (PPA), just like this young lady, Don Draper, who shared her story.
She is currently serving Ohiya autonomous community in Abia state.
She was deployed to work as a secondary school teacher in the locale.
Initially, she didn’t want to serve at her PPA because of the deplorable condition of the school.
She was previously wary to serve in Abia because of the stories she heard about the state, she enjoyed the camp experience, but didn’t like the school.
She quickly settled into the school life after a few months and fell in love with the students.
She then devised a way to help her students excel at their studies and came up with the “Base Word Spelling Challenge “.
After the students prepared intensely for the challenge, the competition took place.
And it was fierce.
There were prizes.
They included: a one term scholarship, school bags, books and pens.
Two winners emerged from JS3 and SS3.
Senior secondary student, Uzoma, collects his prize.
Junior secondary student, Chinemerem, receiving his prize.
She’s certainly setting a good example and helping the future generation.
The challenge is now spreading to the rest of the state. Another secondary school will be hosting an edition for students. Her target is to organise the challenge in seven different schools across the state before her passing out parade (POP).
Who knows the number of times the internet will shake in 2016?
Barely three weeks after we shared the most dramatic video of 2016, Princess Vitarah has made jaws drop again.
In the first week of March 2016, she dropped a controversial and unapologetic video titled “Nigerian Pussy”.
She sand about Nigerian Pussy being the cream of the crop but the video was taken down by YouTube. And as a sharp Nigerian girl, she had uploaded the video again in less than than 24 hours.
The most important factors the report considered where the GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support, trust in government, generousity and freedom to make life decisions.
Out of the 157 countries ranked, only 7 African countries were in the top 100 in the World Happiness Report.
Algeria and Mauritius topped the African list, globally ranking 38 and 66 respectively..
Even in the face of social unrest, countries like Libya and Somalia are the 3rd and 4th happiest African countries ranking 66 and 67 consecutively worldwide.
Nigeria was ranked as the 8th happiest country in Africa, behind Morocco, Somaliland and Tunisia.
Nigeria was placed globally at the 103rd position in light of the relevance of GDP per Capita and social support in the country. The report shows that Nigerian’s aren’t necessarily bothered by freedom to make life choices.
Zambia and Sierra Leone came 9th and 10th due to strong social support system and freedom to make life choices.
Unfortunately, several African countries such as Madagascar, Tanzania, Rwanda and Liberia dominated the bottom of the list with Togo and Burundi ranking below Afghanistan and Syria respectively.
This report goes to show a slight glimpse of the state of some African countries in the continent.
However, Nigerian writer, Yomi Kazeem doesn’t necessarily believe this is a bad thing. He is of the opinion that many more young Africans have stopped overlooking and making light of the issues that plague their countries and have started speaking out on every medium they can access.
There are a few things that are still taboo to talk about in Nigeria. Like sex.
Homosexuality is an entirely different ball game.
Now, there a new short film that’s about the issue.
It’s about sexual relationships, same sex ones to be exact.
Titled Hell and High Water, this film deals with homosexuality and religion.
It tells the story of a young pastor who is loved and adored by those around him. But when he has to confront his inner demons, things change. He has to deal with “a truth” that could make or break him psychologically.
But, whatever his choice is, there will still be serious repercussions.
Because life as he knew it is about to change.
Hell and High Water explores the reality of sexuality amidst spirituality, exorcism, blackmail and family life.
It is produced by AMVCA winner, Asurf Oluseyi, and written by Habeeb Lawal.
Asurf Oluseyi won the 2016 Africa Magic Viewes Chocie Award for “Best Short Film” for A Day With Death.
It also stars 2016 AMVCA winner for Best Actor, Daniel K. Daniel.
Other actors are Enyinna Nwigwe, Ashionye M. Racca, Tunbosun Aiyedehin, Adedayo Davies and Chika Okeke.
It is no longer uncommon to find Nigerian women breaking into fields of work that have been thought to be restricted to men.
One more pair of hands that carve friction sharper than a butcher’s knife has been added to the list of awesome Nigerian haircut stylists.
Meet Kenechukwu Ezeh, a 300 level student currently studying Co-operatives and Rural Development at Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
She is the most popular female Nigerian barber at the moment who was encouraged by her mother to learn the skills due to the high unemployment rates in Nigeria.
Although born and bred in Lagos, Kenechukwu moved to Enugu with her family after her father’s death and obtained a National Diploma in Business Administration.
Her mother’s suggestion initially put Kenechukwu and her sister Chinelo off, but after giving the idea some thought they decided to go through with their training.
Being female and working at a barbershop wasn’t very easy for them as some of their male colleagues refused to recognise them as barbers.
However, she is currently the CEO of her haircut salon, Gap Barbershop in Enugu and her friction style is giving us life.
Keep up with her on her Instagram page @Posh231. You can also check out pictures from Gap Barbershop here.
Awesome! We can’t wait for her to spread her reach to other Nigerian states!
Right now, Olajumoke is the most famous person in Nigeria.
If you don’t agree, you can argue with the internet.
Since she was discovered, she has been getting a lot of endorsements and fronting a lot of campaigns.
So it’s no wonder Nigerians (and the whole world) can’t stop talking about her.
According to Google Nigeria, she is the most searched person in the country from January to March 2016.
She ranks number 1 while David Bowie, Adekunle Gold, Arakangundu, Dede OneDay, Mark Angel Comedy, Alan Rickman, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Natalie Cole and Falz take the remaining 9 spots on the top ten list.
The 27-year-old former breadseller turned model is certainly showing us that the odds are ever in her favour!
She signed on to Few Model Agency, modelled for April by Kunbi, did her very first catwalk on the runway, appeared on the cover of This Day Style and an editorial for Style Mania Magazine. She is also the ambassador of Payporte and Shirley’s Confectionery. These are just a few of the many deals she’s gotten so far. She has also made it onto media platforms like CNN, Huffington post and Buzzfeed.
Olajumoke is steady winning and we hope her market continues to flourish!
So all those harbingers of doom, you can put your mind at ease. Jumoke isn’t going anywhere but higher!
Sticks and stones in form of erratic supply of electricity, depressing exchange rates, looting of government funds and fuel scarcity don’t break Nigerians. Rather than get outraged, Nigerians remain one of the happiest group of people in the world. What they cannot stand however, is hearing a foreigner speaking ill of their beloved country.
This Ghanaian Twitter user found the recipe to really upset Nigerians. She said how she really felt about them.
Nigerians are the only people who like Nigerians, y’all fuck like rabbits so there’s so many of you, the world can’t say shit.
Africa as a continent is steps behind all other continents in term of development. Rather than bash other countries, hands should be placed on deck to finally place our continent at the same pace and time with others.
Also Nigerians should use this outrage as a drive to fix some of the things wrong with the country.
John Magufuli keeps giving other African presidents leadership goals. From looking for ways to use taxpayers money for more important things to providing quality health care to free education for children. The man has been known to drive himself.
Now he has done something else. He went to renew his gun license and went through due process.

A lot of us were beyond heartbroken when it looked like the music duo had broken up. With all the drama and shade they were throwing at each other, and he said, they said, it certainly looked like they had done enough damage and had gone past the point of no return. In spite of this, fans were doing all they could for them to get back together.
Like this really passionate fan that cried her eyes out.

And this girl who couldn’t read for her exams, thanks to P-Square.

Just when we thought all hope was lost, we saw this picture on Peter’s timeline on the 19th of March.
He said, “Psquare live in Rotterdam Netherland Saturday 26th March. Be there or be squared. It’s Gonna rock!@palmundoworld#festival“.
We were just looking, because this wasn’t the first time we heard that they had reconciled, only for them to turn around and be like they’re two, not one. They had stretched our hearts way past its elastic capacity.
But then, Paul posted it on his own page three days later!
The queen of melanin and total slayage is back at it again!
Back at it again with the gorgeousness and slayage!
Actress and fashion icon, Lupita Nyong’o is slaying everybody’s lives on the cover of Instyle Magazine’s April issue.
Sporting a green dress by Proenza Schouler, Lupita speaks on the lack of diversity in Hollywood.
She expresses her disappointment in the Academy’s failure to recognise diverse Hollywood actors for Oscar nominations.
She says “There is a real imbalance, from the very creation of the stories and who’s telling them, how, and why. Change has to happen with the writers, the studio, the marketers, the directors. That’s got to be diversified because there is a hunger for the expansion of the role of people of color in the center of narratives”.
Lupita isn’t joking with her career.
“Both my parents raised me to pursue the things that make me feel most alive…because that’s how you can have the most effect,” she says. “That allowed me to get passionate about something that can sometimes seem as inconsequential as acting and then find important things to do with it”.
Damn Lupita!
Colour blocking on fleek!
Just look how these bold colours pop beautifully against her skin.
She’s fashion goals!
We can’t wait for her next photo spread.
Head on to Instyle.com to check out more snippets of her interview.
*Ahem* This is a Public Service Announcement for all aspiring IJGBs and all those who want to change their BBM/Twitter location to a foreign country.
Unlike, the widespread perception about how difficult getting visa to foreign countries, this article posted by the US embassy in Nigeria, shows the consular officers’ perspective of the visa application process.
1. Never present fraudulent documents.
Using fake documents and visa packages can either completely ruin any chance of ever getting access into the country or earn the applicant some time in prison.
2. It’s called an interview for a reason, engage the consular officer in a conversation.
We’re not saying you should do amebo oh. They’re humans who would be interested to learn about Nigerian culture or probably our premium Jollof rice.
3. It’s not always by documents.
If you’re travelling to the US especially, your documents aren’t the most important part. Simply present your documents and let them interview you.
4. Tell them about yourself and what you do.
They honestly don’t bite. Picture this: If you wanted to take someone into your home, wouldn’t you want to get to know them before they move in?
The purpose of the interview is for them to simply get to know who you are.
5. Truthfully explain why you chose their country of all the several foreign countries of the world.
You’re the one convincing them to admit you into their country. They actually have the right to know what makes their country appealing to you.
6. Confirm whatever information you hear about visas from the embassy.
Rather than go for your interview with false information, the safest thing to do is simply reaching out to the embassy to confirm useful information.
7. Give detailed answers to the questions asked.
Explaining in details will help them understand you better and also make the process easier.
8. Bear in mind that the consulate officers are only doing their jobs and obeying the laws of their country.
We know you’re going to cast and bind them on the morning of your interview. Just know that they’re people with jobs just like you.
Laolu Senbanjo is an artist, singer and self-taught guitarist based in the United States.
Born in Ilorin, Kwara state, he is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School and a human rights lawyer.
After several years of investing his time and money creating art and music, he became a full-time artist.
Though it has not been easy or rewarding monetarily, he says it’s his destiny or Ayanmo in the Yoruba language.
He draws a lot of inspiration from his Yoruba heritage and it can be heard in his music.
He enjoys the spontaneity and pleasure that comes with making music.
And seen in his art called ‘Afromysterics’.
Laolu describes this as “the mystery of the African thought pattern“. He believes that traditional indigenous spiritual practices help guide us through different phases of our lives. He sees his art as a way to share and express experiences.
Laolu sees everywhere as his canvas. From shoes…
To jackets…
To human bodies.
He’s a passionate activist and most of his works have social justice ideologies woven throughout.
Feminism, women and children are often present and common themes in my work.
He’s also had exhibitions all over the world.
The countries include Nigeria, Germany, France, and South Africa.
And he has a huge following of people that love his artwork.
Now, Laolu is collaborating with Nike, the manufacturers of the popular sports apparel and footwear of the same name.
Hired by Nike as the ‘Master of Air’, he’ll be creating Air Max-inspired art at the Air Max Convention in New York City.
According to Nike, “Laolu draws inspiration from his Yoruba heritage and global travels. At Air Max Con, he’ll be creating art, incorporating his love for Air Max, New York City, and sports.”
Some Nigerians believe that there are no jobs, some believe there are jobs, if you know where to look. But it’s come to light that there are plenty of jobs, but it’s being snatched up by people with “connections”.
Of course there’s the getting of jobs through networking, which is legit. But there are those that aren’t qualified, who still get important jobs because their parents or relatives or family friends are in power. Like the current situation that has come to light.
Sahara Reporters broke the news of Nigerians who were offered important positions at the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN).
The news site published a list of young people who have influential background and were recently offered appointments by CBN in a covert hiring process.
More than 200 people are said to be on this list!
We know this happens, but this one is on a really large scale.
SaharaReporters claims CBN appointed these relatives of various government officials without following due process.
Wow! Just wow!
That many people?! Nawa for Nigeria.
And we thought the Nigerian government couldn’t surprise us anymore.
This is disappointing, even though it’s not surprising.
This is the second scandal to happen since Godwin Emefiele became the governor of Central Bank.
Before this, CBN was scammed to the tune of 190,000 dollars.
The reactions of Nigerians were varied.
