The fact that the educational system in Nigeria needs a complete overhaul isn’t news.
And since it looks like it could take the Nigerian government a while to get to that point, a group of Nigerian youth have decided to make a change, one step at a time.
In the past 4 years, Slum2school Africa has reached out and provided educational scholarships and support to 650 disadvantaged children in slums and remote communities such as Okuagbo, Saga Islands and Makoko.
The award-winning NGO, founded by Orondaam Otto in 2012, has engaged over 5000 volunteers across 12 different countries who have actively participated in realising the vision of the organisation.
2016 seems to be an unstoppable year for Slum2school Africa. In February, the first Early Childhood Development Centre was launched in Makoko to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the organisation.
The center was furnished with adequate educational materials and 4 learning spaces to conveniently service 600-1000 children weekly.
And in June, they commissioned the first fully-equipped children health care center in Makoko.
The health center was designed to serve about 2,000 children and will at least reduce the spread of diseases among the school children. The center will also provide first aid services to children in the community.
Thanks to these guys, there will be fewer Nigerian children out of school. Even with these accomplishments, the government needs to play its part and provide necessary amenities to children living in remote parts of the country.
The football world was thrown into mourning on June 8 when Stephen Keshi, who only lost his wife last December, died from a sudden cardiac arrest. In memory of this legendary Nigerian footballer and coach, here’s a list of things you didn’t know about him.
1. Stephen Okechukwu Keshi was born in 1962 and began playing football at a very young age for ACB Football Club followed by New Nigeria Bank.
2. He was born in Azare, Bauchi State and was originally from Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
3. He also played for foreign football clubs such as Africa Sports FC in Cote d’Ivoire, Anderlecht FC and Lokeren FC, both in Belgium.
4. He began playing for the Super Eagles at 20 and appeared 64 times throughout his career scoring a total of 9 goals.
5. As captain of the Super Eagles, he led the team to win the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and played briefly for Sacremento FC in the U.S afterwards.
6. He played on the same team as Rashidi Yekini and Sunday Oliseh before retiring and going to the U.S in 1995. While in the U.S, he got an education in coaching.
7. Apart from the Super Eagles, he also coached other African teams including Mali and Togo.
8. Up to this date, Stephen Keshi is the only coach to have taken the Togolese national team to the World Cup.
9. While serving as the Super Eagles coach in 2013, the football squad won the African Cup of nations. This made him one of the only two men to have won the tournament as footballer and coach.
10. He spoke fluent French and English and was nicknamed “Big Boss” due to his amazing leadership skills.
11. Keshi had four children with his late wife, Kate, and loved to spend his weekends with them.
Tiwa Savage is going international in her new deal with Roc Nation. The rumors started flying in May about her possible record deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
The hype got bigger when popular entertainment consultant and A&R, Bizzle Osikoya, shared a post about Jay Z’s interest in Tiwa’s music catalogue.
And guess what, Tiwa Savage and Mavin Records Boss, Don Jazzy, are currently in New York and even shared pictures of their meeting with Jay Z.
She’s set to finalise her deal with Roc Nation and that means she’ll be rubbing shoulders with artistes like Rihanna and DJ Khaled.
It’s surprising to note Don Jazzy’s participation in this deal despite his discomfort with D’banj’s deal with G.O.O.D Music in 2012. It’s hard to forget how that drama led to the split-up of the great Mo’Hits records.
This deal is major and shows that the only way for Nigerian music is up. Congratulations to Tiwa and we anticipate even more awesome music from here!
Not every time bash Nollywood, sometimes give them props.
Because for every not-so-great movie and confusing translation…
People like Tunde Kelani, Stephanie Linus, Emem Isong and Kunle Afolayan come through with awesome movies that make us fall in love with Nollywood all over again.
After blessing us with The Figurine and the award winning October 1, Kunle Afolayan has made a new movie, titled The CEO, and it first premiered on a flight from Lagos to Paris.
One of the actors, Haitian Jimmy Jean Louise, (aka the hot guy from Phat Girls) who was in Nigeria for the official premiere of the movie couldn’t stop gushing about Nollywood and Nigeria.
According to him, Nigeria is one of Africa’s leading countries with the most potential and power. He even added that Nollywood has a better representation of African cinema. Nice!
The CEO movie should be a mind-blowing movie, anyway, we expect nothing short of perfection from Kunle Afolayan.
The movie which also features Angelique Kidjo, is about a group of top executives of a multi-national company who begin to die mysteriously during a short business trip. Watch the movie trailer here.
In case you didn’t know, The Nigerian Police recruitment short-list was released on June 2. A total of 338,227 candidates were selected for the final screening which started on June 6 as announced by the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mr Mike Okiro.
What makes this screening more interesting is that about 911,000 candidates initially applied for positions available for only 10,000 people.
On top of that, as reported by The News Agency of Nigeria, the spokesman of the Enugu state command of the Nigerian Police Force stated that over-aged people, those with some physical impediments and people with tattoos will be disqualified.
Although this screening shows how serious the unemployment rate has gotten, we have some questions.
Will those tattoos prevent them from keeping the law and order in the country?
Should officers be judged based on their appearances or how well they can do the job?
Or was this rule passed on the moral stereotype Nigerians have on tattoos?
Is it necessary to screen out people with disabilities even if they have useful skills necessary for the job?
What do you think about this rule? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
This post isn’t here to bore you about how Nigeria has the highest rate of twins in the world. No, seriously, it’s not news.
It’s about a video that will definitely leave you in shock.
According to these British twin vloggers, there’s a “little place called Yoruba” which has the highest birth rate of twins in the world. Wait what?
After trying to explain how/why the Yoruba people name twins and pronouncing the twin names, Taiye and Kehinde, in the most ridiculous manner…
They ended the video with some “Yorubian folk music”.
What’s all this yama yama?
When foreigners try to explain African culture but fail at it.
In all honesty, they almost had it sha. But their reference to Yoruba as a place and description of Orlando Owoh’s music as “Yorubian folk music” is just unbearable.
Which group of people keep winning at life while slaying at the same time? You got it right, they’re Nigerians! And in this case, Nigerian women.
Trailblazer in the media industry, Pearlena Igbokwe, has been named as the president of popular TV studio, Universal Television, the production branch of the NBC television network.
Pearlena was appointed after the former president, Bela Bajaria, suddenly left her job after 5 years on the job. This means she will be the first African American to lead a major TV studio.
The mother of 2 who migrated to the U.S with her parents at 6, first worked at NBC in 1985 while she was an undergraduate at Yale University.
Although she faced some of the challenges immigrants faced growing up in the U.S, she went on to excel in her studies and even bagged a Masters Degree from Columbia University.
Before she moved back to NBC in 2012, Pearlena was the Drama head at Showtime, a cable network under CBS network, where she was involved in the production of TV shows like Dexter and Nurse Jackie.
Her brilliant track record at the organisation was so impressive, the NBC president recognised her as the perfect fit for the job after Bela’s resignation. It’s no surprise as she was responsible for great shows like Chicago Med, Blacklist and Blindspot.
Congratulations to Pearlena and hopefully, many more awesome shows to come!

JAMB cut off mark
This year in Nigeria
Follow us on SoundCloud for more podcasts and share your thoughts with us below!
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, on June 2 announced that the Post-UTME screening which is usually organised by tertiary institutions for candidates who passed the JAMB cut-off will now be scrapped.
He also added that the the new JAMB cut-off mark will be fixed at 180 for all tertiary institutions except Unilag, UI and OAU whose scores will remain at 200.
According to him, it is not necessary for universities to organise additional entrance exams and the JAMB exam is a sufficient screening process.
Nigerians reacted to this new development and some thought JAMB itself should be scrapped.
If there is anything that should be scrapped it is Jamb itself. Let universities be able to set their exams and admit the students they want
Aderonke Ariyo who goes by her stage name, DJ Soupamodel, has been selected as a governor for the 2016 Grammy awards.
Every year, The Recording Academy selects a group of artistes and producers who will be responsible for deciding how the Grammy Awards will run. And this year, Ronke sits on the Washington DC chapter of the board.
Ronke has worked with local and international artistes including Tiwa Savage, Jason Derulo and was a Grammy DJ in 2013.
Currently, she is the CEO of a music publishing and licensing company, Music BLVD. It’s impressive that African women in the entertainment industry are finally getting acknowledged especially in the international scenes.
A few days ago, Joro Olumofin shared an email he received from a young lady on his Instagram page
And for you people that don’t like reading long things; she basically said that when her boyfriend saw the robbers approaching, he ran out of the car without even warning her
So when the Zikoko team heard about this craziness, we just couldn’t help but chook our own mouths inside
Maryam, Junior Writer
“I’ll dump him on the spot and ask if he’s okay afterwards since we all want to be childish. Just to make him know what it feels like to be suddenly abandoned.”
Nerd Efiko, Senior Writer
“It will pain me sha. At least warn me before you take off, let us run together. Hian.”
Damilola, Editor-In-Chief
“If my boyfriend did this to me, we are basically done. And since he wants to be silly and childish, I’ll put on him on blast – tell his mother, his father, his pastor, put them on a WhatsApp group and put him on BLAST. And it’s the kind of guy who’s always doing Bonnie and Clyde on Instagram that’ll do this sort of thing. But when it comes down to it…?”
Osarumen, Zikoko Contributor/Senior Editor at TechCabal
“First of all, I’m likely to be the one doing the running. If she beats me to it, then I’m going to put a ring on it. That is, if I can find her afterwards.”
Tola, Zikoko Contributor/Writer at TechCabal
“I’d probably just break up with him by never speaking to him again. Ever again. People heard the gist and were laughing… It’s so embarrassing Jesus!”
Odunayo, Staff Writer
“LMAOO. For me, I don’t expect my boyfriend to fight armed robbers, that’s obviously stupid. But at least stay with me, let’s give them all our belongings together. If he runs, I’m single now. We could have run together but…anyway, no space for cornflakes guys in my life.”
Tobi Smith, Staff Writer
“I’ll see it as God showing me she’s not the one for me. As she ran away, she should run out of my life. We are single now.
But if it was the other way round, I’ll either stay with her and see what happens, or ask her how many legs she has, depending on how much I have and how strong the armed robbers faces are.”
So if your significant other ran away when you were approached by armed robbers, what would you do? Share your thoughts in the comments section
This is singer and artist, Benny Harlem and his daughter, Jaxyn.
And because anybody with this kind of beautiful hair already has the license to break the internet, the whole world fell in love when he shared these cute pictures of them.
Just see how they look like Lion King and cub.
Jaxyn isn’t even playing with all that hair.
This is the type of hair dreams are made of.
Can they dash us small locks of hair?
Who needs attachment with this hair length?
Just imagine making shuku with this hair.
This hair is enough to make anyone go shirtless forever abeg.
They’re even saying his gas cooker is not messy enough to have cooked a pot of Jollof, even if it’s possible he cleaned the gas cooker before taking the pictures.
And while all that drama was going on, some people claimed that Ghana has become the Jollof super power, the kings of Jollof because of the tomato scarcity.
We have three words, this isn’t over!
Although Mr Osi has been accused of telling a few lies on Twitter every now and then, that pot of Jollof looks amazing and those that are hating should go and cook their own.
After the recent increase in fuel price, Nigerians have been really uncomfortable because the cost of goods have become more expensive as expected.
However, the most annoying part is that this new fuel price doesn’t come with an increase in minimum wage. This means that the masses are expected to bear the consequences while top government officials continue to earn fat salaries.
Twitter user, Timigod, got inspired by this particular tweet and created an app that directs tweets to the Nigerian senate, demanding reduction of their salaries.
Nigerian senators currently earn roughly 40 times the standard minimum wage. If the government has to take strict economic measures, all Nigerians including politicians should be involved.
Nigerian photographer, Wale Ariztos, who lives in Washington DC shut down the streets of New Orleans for his wife’s 30th birthday, Nigerian style of course.
His wife, Lola, who turned 30 over the weekend was surprised when Wale brought a carnival procession escort them from the hotel to the restaurant where the birthday dinner took place.
Wale practically threw a big Owambe style party for her and it was too lit!
This just shows how Nigerians are the greatest party animals in the world.
For those that haven’t heard of a killer disease called Steven Johnson Syndrome, 25 year old Fadesola Adedayo embarked on a 17-day marathon to spread awareness after his brother died from the disease in 2012.
His older brother Adeyosola Adedayo, a medical doctor trained in the University of Birmingham moved back to Nigeria to help provide free medical services to people suffering from HIV.
Four years ago, Adeyosola saw blood on his hands after treating an HIV patient. Unfortunately, he reacted severely to the antibiotics he took to prevent HIV infection. He died two weeks after from SJS and he was only 27 years old.
Although Fadesola was heartbroken by his brother’s death, he began running to help with his depression. The civil engineer decided to create awareness and also raise $1 million research funds for the disease during the course of his 17-day marathon.
Steven John’s Syndrome is usually caused by a severe reaction to antibiotics which causes the skin layers to detach . It is a life-threatening disease that starts with a red rash on the limbs and face.
He began the race on May 13 in Abuja and completed it at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Lagos after running 44km everyday. He was received by Governor Ambode who assured him of Lagos state’s readiness to boost awareness of the disease.
Fadesola’s efforts have been recognised by Bia Live Well, MSF-Doctors Without Borders and Canada politician, David Miller. Nigerian medical research organisations should use this avenue to carry out adequate research so that this disease doesn’t claim more Nigerian lives.
These young women look like they’re preparing for a gele tying competition, right?
Unfortunately, they’re not. These two sisters were part of the refugees rescued from an overcrowded refugee boat that capsized while on its way to Europe.
The boat carrying 368 African migrants capsized as a result of sudden movement of people towards one side of the boat. Unfortunately, 5 people drowned.
The 20 year old sisters from Benin City were rescued on their way to Europe through Libya. They were rescued by MSF Sea, an international medical humanitarian organisation aimed at providing medical care for people crossing the Mediterranean to Europe.
These 20 year old sisters from Benin City in #Nigeria have the most beautiful use for our emergency blankets yet! pic.twitter.com/1XAgVnZnvm
Even in such a hopeless situation, they still managed to find happiness. They’re proof that Nigerians are just the happiest and most resilient people on earth.
The refugee crisis is as heartbreaking as it gets. Scores of people desperate to get better lives in Europe die at sea annually. The refugee/migrant crisis ought to be addressed immediately.
Seyi Sodimu, who founded the independent label Goodlife Entertainment in 2001, is working on his fourth album, which is due for release later this year under the label.
It looks like he’s trying to make a comeback into the Nigerian music industry. We wish him good luck with that!
When artsy people try to tell you to find the beauty in everything including a one year old child’s doodling.
When there’s an oil stain on your shirt and your artsy friend says it highlights your skin tone.
We can only imagine the thoughts running through the mind of the photographer who captured the image and how he would caption the picture on Instagram.
After making Nigerians throw the hottest Shoki on the dance floor with his hit Single, Woju, Kiss Daniel only saw it fit to drop his debut album in May 2016.
Surprisingly, his new album, New Era, is charting at number 8 on the Billboard World Album Chart, less than 2 weeks after it dropped.
Pretty impressive! Considering the fact that he took the risk of not featuring any major artists on the album.
The chart, which is a weekly ranking of top-selling world music albums implies that Kiss Daniel’s album is doing very well within and outside the country.
Congratulations to Kiss Daniel on this achievement! We hope the album makes it to the big charts sha!
And while Nigerians are trying to deal with this problem, you won’t believe there’s an actual tomato throwing festival in Spain annually.
During the festival known as La Tomatina people from all around the world travel to a village near Valencia in Spain, and throw tomatoes for entertainment. And guess what? This is the 70th year of the festival.
People suddenly began sharing images from previous La Tomatina festivals and these were our reactions:
When you hear about an actual tomato festival but refuse to believe it.
Na lie abeg!
When you see pictures of them throwing tomatoes during the festival
Are those even real tomatoes?
When you remember you bought 4 tomatoes at 500 Naira.
When you see people celebrate a tomato throwing festival while in your country 4 pieces is 500 Naira . 😀😀😀 pic.twitter.com/QRnwfTqkoS
79 year old Hajiya Fatima Kurfi finally achieved her life-long dream of getting an education when she bagged her B.Sc degree in Islamic Studies from Al-Qalam University in Katsina state.
Although the mother of four and grandmother had completed her degree in 2009, her convocation ceremony was deferred till May 2016 when the university hosted its convocation ceremony for seven graduating sets of the school.
Hajiya Kurfi who didn’t have the opportunity to attend school while growing up, began learning how to read and write when she married her husband who eventually relocated to England. She followed him shortly after.
After returning from England with her husband, she enrolled in an Arabic Teachers College for her secondary school education, where she was in the same class with one of her grand-kids, before obtaining a Diploma at Danfodio College.
Hajia Kurfi was still determined to continue her education and eventually got admitted into Al-Qalam University in 2005.
Currently, she runs a private school for children and an NGO which aims at advocating education of the girl-child.
Although she doesn’t want to go further in her education, she has decided to continue researching at home by studying books and research papers written by her husband, Dr Ahmadu Kurfi, who is a teacher and former federal permanent secretary. Go grandma, we couldn’t be more proud!!!
It has been two years since the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping of April 2014 which sparked campaigns worldwide.
On May 17, one of the schoolgirls , Amina Ali Nkeki, was found by a local vigilante task force in Sambisa Forest and then handed over to the Nigerian troops. The 19 year old was found with her child and a suspected Boko Haram member, Mohammed Hayatu, who claimed to be her “husband”.
It brings a bit of relief to know that some of these girls are alive, and faith in the Nigerian Army has been restored to an extent.
What makes her being an under-aged mother more outrageous is the fact that media publications are referring to him as her husband despite the fact that she was kidnapped and “married off” against her own will.
This “cozy” picture of her and Mohammed Hayyatu was taken while they were going through medical checks at the Air Force medical facility.
It begs the question of why this picture went public in the first place. Even if Mohammed Hayatu isn’t a Boko Haram member but a husband as he claims to be, did he suddenly become best friends with the terrorists that they just let him marry one of their captives?
Amina’s rescue, without doubt, has to be the most talked about topic considering the fact that she’s one of the Chibok girls.
She and her child met with President Buhari which is an impressive show of concern from the president.
The most uncomfortable part of Amina’s rescue is the disregard for her privacy. Her meeting with the President turned out to be a press conference and her HIV test results have been plastered all over the internet, thank God it came out negative.
While Amina’s privacy hasn’t been respected, not much is known about Mohammed Hayatu. How did he become a Boko Haram ‘captive’? And if they were both prisoners of Boko Haram, how were they allowed to get married and have a child in captivity?
Mohammed Hayatu’s story just isn’t adding up. And the circumstances around their rescue is suspicious at best. Understandably, Amina has been unable to confirm or deny the numerous speculations being thrown about by various media outlets. Which is why the media circus around her since she was rescued should not have occurred in the first place.
For someone who has been in captivity for two years when other girls her age probably made it into university, one would think she would be undergoing psych evaluation and rehabilitation.
Mohammed Hayatu is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Army but proper investigation and prosecution ought to be carried out immediately. Although there are some other unanswered questions from this story, we hope the other girls return home safely and justice gets served.
This Nigerian car dealer knows he has plenty money but he kuku doesn’t want to rub it in our faces too much so we won’t feel bad. He’s religious and even covers his really expensive car with the blood of Jesus when he gets scared. Here are 7 times he was too humble in his bragging:
1. When he didn’t know what to wear.
2. His wonderful act of charity.
3. When he was going to church on a rainy day.
4. When he was stuck in traffic with little fuel in his car.
5. When he wanted us to know his “started from the bottom” story.
6. When he was pleading the blood of Jesus.
7. When he shared how he made the greatest mistake of his life.
Following the corruption scandal that rocked the FIFA body in 2015, Senegalese Fatma Samoura, was appointed by FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, as the first female Secretary-General of the international football body.
She was appointed after the former Secretary-General, Jérôme Valcke, was banned for 12 years due to his involvement in the FIFA corruption wahala of 2015.
At 54, Fatma has worked for the UN since 1995 and served as a coordinator and resident representative of programs in six countries.
Although Fatma has not been involved in sports before this appointment, Gianni believes her experience in managing big organisations and human resources will help in reforming FIFA.
However, Fatma Samoura currently works as the resident representative for the United Nations Development Program in Nigeria where she oversees human resources and procurement while assessing political and economic trends in the country.
A few days ago, a picture of a Nigerian job-seeker on the streets of Port Harcourt went viral.
Speaking with the Zikoko team, 26 year old IB MacDonald shared her story and how she has been unemployed since she obtained her B.Sc degree in 2010.
The mother of two currently holds an M.Sc in Education Psychology and will complete her Ph.D program in 2017. She even uploaded her CV on her Facebook page.
She explained how the job offers she got to teach in some private schools came with a salary package of 10,000 Naira, which isn’t even enough to cover her transportation bills to work.
She stated how the frustration from being idle for so long drove her to the streets of Port Harcourt.
After her picture went viral, IB received calls from people who suggested she started a business. However, IB said she isn’t a business-minded person and her passion is in lecturing.
And this raises questions. Why is the Nigerian government more concerned with offering empowerment programs than providing jobs?
Why should Nigerians go to school only to be asked to start a business right after? Does having an education in Nigeria come with an entrepreneurship package?
Nigeria is yet to make some scientific/infrastructural breakthroughs. Shouldn’t the government aim to create jobs in these sectors?
Why should a Nigerian have to resort to going to the streets to seek for employment?
Someone with an advanced degree like IB should be in a position to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s failing education sector.
Although some Nigerians have argued that there are a few private bodies where IB’s skills will be useful, we hope IB becomes gainfully employed soon and this problem of serial unemployment is dealt with once and for all. You can get in touch with her via her Facebook account.
He sha wanted us to know he’s the king of Photoshop. Here are photos of his own version:

See how OC looks like the real Lord Commander of the Night’s watch.

Imagine Olu Jacobs with blonde hair, LOL!

Just look at how royal Joseph looks here! King goals!
Van Vicker as Jaime Lannister
Van Vicker has never looked more like Jaime Lannister! He looks like a real warrior with a golden hand.

Twitter user @lsl3y, also known as Leslie Williams Isah, is a passionate visual designer, the founder/curator of a visual site, Layrz.net and the co-founder at Design Jobcaster.
Gallant soldiers such as Air force Commander, Chinda Stephen Hedima, chose to protect Nigerians by fighting off these terrorists.
He and his co-pilot were sent on a combat mission when their aircraft was shot down by Boko Haram terrorists.
He was captured and later executed by the terrorists but unfortunately, the Nigerian military refused to acknowledge his death even after members of Boko Haram released a video of his execution.
The late commander had his combat simulator training on the Alpha Jet with Aero Vodochody in Czech Republic.
And two years after his death his widow, Dr Hedima was awarded a post-graduate scholarship to study Epidemiology by the Czech Republic government.
The Czech government recognised her late husband’s sacrifice for his country especially because of the great diplomatic relations the country has with Nigeria.
Although the Nigerian military authorities are just confirming his death after two years, we wish her all the best in her studies.
There are scores of widows whose husbands died while serving and protecting Nigeria and its citizens from the brutal terrorists. It’s sad that it takes an international country to appreciate one of them.
We hope the Nigerian government honours these soldiers for their sacrifice.
John Boyega is absolutely bae, no arguments about that! After slaying his role as Ugwu in Chimamanda’s Half Of A Yellow Sun and Finn in the latest Star Wars movie, we couldn’t be more in love with him.
And guess what? He shared this tweet about visiting Nigeria soon.
Currently planning trip to Nigeria. Making sure I can connect with as much supporters as possible. More news to come in the next few months.
Ghanaian Pastor Addison Adamu, the founder of Freedom House Church International, Atlanta, Georgia wanted us to know how much he loved children when he shared pictures of him “backing” a child on his Facebook page.
That’s not the best part, he managed to preach the word of God, and heal the sick…
With this adorable little girl on his back.
He captioned the pictures “Having awesome time during Ephphatha conference: babysitting, preaching and healing the sick at the same time. what an awesome time to love on little kids Jesus so love dearly.”
He loves children just like Jesus did but couldn’t he give the little girl a chair to sit on while he preached and watched over her?
Is backing a child the only way to babysit?
Is this little girl not too old to be backed with a wrapper?
Are women (including female pastors) this celebrated for backing a child while preaching?
Is it necessary for any pastor or public speaker whether male or female to literally back a child while talking to an audience?
Back in 1984, Nigerian artist, Tunde Odunlade, and Assistant Secretary of State, Linda Thomas Greenwich, met for the first time.
Thirty years ago, Tunde, a print and textile artist went to Linda’s window to request for a visa to the United States when she was serving as a Consular Officer in Lagos.
Tunde, who was granted the visa rose to be one of the leading faces of traditional African art . His work has been displayed in many countries and is currently in a collection of institutions such as the Smithsonian Museum of African Art.
Thirty years after their first encounter, as if by coincidence, Linda and Tunde happened to be panelists for a discussion on the Chibok girls.
Tunde recognised her and just had to pay her a visit to thank her for approving his visa in 1984. He even showed her some of his work.
Tunde Odunlade was the first African artist to exhibit at the Festival of Atlanta in 1987. Till date, he uses his art to address the social issues Nigerians face.
A Twitter page @NGtrends shared an article about a confused Nigerian man that fell out of love with his girlfriend who donated her kidney to save his life.
Snapchat added Lagos to the global live feed and it means people all around the world have access to view snap stories of people using the Lagos snap filters for 24 hours. Nairobi was the first African city to be featured in the global live feed even though haters didn’t like it.
Here are some of the cool and hilarious snap stories from the Lagos global feed:
This girl was teaching us how to greet in Yoruba and just kept blowing serious “phoney”.
Abeg X 3.
This person that said Lagosians live in mansions and not huts.
He sha wanted to show off his fine house.
This girl that was snapchatting on Okada.

Only God knows the language she was trying to speak sha.
Of course, this bridge just had to be featured.

The year 2012 witnessed one of the biggest protests ever staged in Nigeria. Former President Goodluck Jonathan, tried to remove the fuel subsidy but Nigerians weren’t having it. However, on May 11 2016, the fuel subsidy was finally removed by the Buhari administration and it meant petrol will be sold at N145 per litre.
Although experts have argued that the country spends trillions of Naira on the subsidy which has not even benefited Nigerians…
They should have warned us sha.
I'm not even necessarily in favour of the #fuelsubsidy. But to remove it overnight w/o warning…after the worst #FuelScarcity ever. Cold.
It was reported that President Buhari left the country to attend an anti-corruption summit in the UK. However, UK’s Prime Minister, David Cameron had a few things to say about Nigerians.
In the video below, he can be overheard telling the Queen and other officials including the Archbishop of Canterbury, about the proceedings of the summit.

He stated that leaders of the most fantastically corrupt countries are attending the summit. He also added that Nigeria and Afghanistan are possibly the most corrupt countries in the world.
Well, we live in a country where billions of dollars get ‘missing’ while politicians divert public funds a la Suki Santa.
So David didn’t necessarily tell a lie but let’s state a few things…
David Cameron was said to have been involved in the Panama Papers wahala but he still had so much to say about some people’s ‘fantastic corruption’.
And he obviously wasn’t trying to be politically correct sha.
Why's everyone mad at David Cameron?! I know he was politically incorrect.
But did he lie?

But some Nigerians believe the UK government has helped some Nigerian politicians hide stolen money.
Dear @David_Cameron,Nigeria is #FantasticallyCorrupt like you fantastically stated. Your country fantastically help them to hide their loot.
President Buhari in his speech said he won’t demand an apology and in his words, “I’m not going to demand any apology. All I demand is a return of assets. What would I do with apology?”
We hope all Nigerians make efforts to end corruption at every level so that people like David won’t throw such shade at us in the future.
It’s about time Nigerians start appreciating the beauty of our culture. Nigerians continue to slay at home and especially abroad, why? Because even in the midst of so much wahala, greatness still runs in our blood. But let’s just get to the gist.
This British comedienne and actress just got featured in her first Nollywood movie.
For those of you who don’t know her, she’s Claire Edun aka Oyinbo Princess, famous for her pidgin speaking skills.
Claire who was born and raised in the UK fell in love with Nigeria after listening to several Nigerian songs.
The former air hostess is married to a Nigerian man, Richard Edun, and is popular for her comedy videos.
Her ability to speak pidgin landed her a role in a Nollywood movie titled ATM, produced by Lancelot Imaseun.
It’s great to see a foreigner take so much interest in Nigerian culture. But let’s remember one or two things…
When Nigerians speak English with an American or British accent, people say they’re forming.
Speaking pidgin on a normal day is razz but when a foreigner speaks pidgin, Nigerians be like…
As Nigerians, we need to learn to love our culture and stop waiting for others to do the appreciation for us.
Truth be told, new ideas are usually built on older ones these days. Nigerian musicians are great at copyingsampling , that’s why Wizkid probably sampled S7ven in Holla At Your Boy while P Square served us Fugees-inspired, Bizzy Body.
In May 2016, Paul Okoye from P Square directed and featured in a video titled Slow Slow.
But the guys at YNaija felt he copied Rihanna’s Work dance-hall music video.
And dragged him for it.
Paul didn’t take it lightly and went on full blast in their comments section. He even said they will never be as big as Linda Ikeji.
YNaija continued to be petty and threw more shade at him in their next post.
This is another case of two people fighting but it reminds us of Wizkid and Linda’s rofo rofo fight.
Although P Square’s total body of work is almost always based on ‘sampled songs’, and YNaija are just looking for trouble…
