The Lagos Leather Fair 5 (LLF5), which will hold at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos, from June 11 to 12, 2022, will feature fashion experts, manufacturers, designers, leather enthusiasts, creatives, and leading leather industry experts in Nigeria and Africa.

Speaking ahead of the Fair, Group Chief Marketing Officer, Leadway Holdings, Mr. Olusakin Labeodan, stated that the creative industry, especially the fashion space, has been gaining relevance, unleashing creativity and enabling budding young enterprises to build brands and a sustainable economic future for themselves. Their global impact has made it shared responsibility for critical stakeholders, both in the public and private sectors, to participate in sustaining this evolution.

“Over the years, we have seen phenomenal growth in the creative space as more creative minds and enterprises showcase their innovative works beyond the shores of Africa, thereby placing a premium on our collective innovativeness and elevating our capacity for value creation. Therefore, it is a shared responsibility for individuals and corporates alike to facilitate and encourage platforms primed for showcasing talents and expanding their know-how and reach, hence our decision to support the Lagos Leather Fair.

“According to the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Nigeria has over 37 million micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSME), accounting for more than 84 per cent of total jobs creation in the country, 48.5 per cent of the gross domestic product, GDP, as well as about 7.27 percent of goods and services exported out of the country. This remarkable data demonstrates the MSMEs’ superior contribution to our economic development and why they need support. The Leather industry is consistently propelled by the energies and creativities of the MSMEs, and we are pleased to be a part of this journey as active supporters”.

Commenting on the Sponsorship, Founder, Lagos Leather Fair, Femi Olayebi, said, “We’re excited to be back for our fifth edition, and in partnership with proud sponsors and forward-leaning corporates like Leadway, to continue to create massive visibility for both starting and established designers. • Your Fridays Just Got a Lot Better: A Tale of Two Ships

Your Fridays Just Got a Lot Better: A Tale of Two Ships

    Dearly Beloved,

We are gathered here to witness the launching of two new amazing flagships from the good people of Zikoko.

In true Zikoko fashion, both of these flagships take a look at what it means to be young, alive and exist with other human beings. But the gag is that they explore two sides of the same weird coin called relationships.

What are their names, you ask?

    Sunken Ships

Ships are meant to float. Whether it’s a vessel importing cars nobody can really afford, or the 8-month situationship you’re surprised you’re still a part of. But what happens when these ships sink? What happens when you don’t speak to your mother or your best friend anymore? Do we ever really talk about the hurt, blame and all the many shady things that happen when your ship sinks? Yes. Zikoko does.

From tomorrow, Friday the 13th of May 2022 and every Friday after, Itohan will be speaking to real people about the real problems that caused their relationships to hit the rocks. Follow her as she tries to find out where things went wrong and who did what to who?

We celebrate love when we find it, it’s only right we ask questions when we lose it.

Astor & Hassan Vs. The World

Speaking of ships, these two are the most chaotic pair I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Astor is a senior editor here at Zikoko and the writer of the hilarious So You Don’t Have To series. Hassan was also a senior editor here at Zikoko and together they decided it would be a good idea to take their friendship and occasional insanity to different places. And of course, we said yes.

Astor & Hassan Vs. The World is an original series from Zikoko and will be coming to you every Friday.

If anyone has any reason why these two flagships should not be launched, please keep it in your pocket, there’s no stopping them now.

And for those of you ready for the ride, strap in because Fridays will never be the same.

  • CANDO! Nigeria Hosts its First-Ever Paint, Sip, and Plant Event in Honour of World Earth Day

It was World Earth Day a few days ago, and like every other day, CanDo!; the consumer-facing brand of NAMPAK BEVCAN (Africa’s largest producer of cans),  wanted to do something positive. Being the pioneers they are, the CanDo community hosted Nigeria’s first Paint, Sip, and Plant event at The Garden, Ikoyi, Lagos with environmentalists and members of the plant community.

In attendance were the Sales Account Manager, Nampak Bevcan Nigeria, Mr. Ikemefuna Chidi,  Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Environment,  Dr. Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen, General Manager, Lagos State Parks and Gardens (LASPARK),  Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, MD Yellow Brick Road Ltd, Mr. Olumide Kaliko Olowole, and a representative of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Ms. Tumilara Oloyede.

The aim was to make Nigerians understand the need to invest in our planet by playing an active role in choosing environmentally friendly habits such as recycling and using cans. Why cans? • We Can All Have a Good Time if You Hear Us Out

We Can All Have a Good Time if You Hear Us Out

Good day fans and friends of Zikoko. I’m here to convince but not confuse you that Zikoko’s drops for the month of April are — as the kids say — fire. Purrrrr.

In the last year, there’s been a lot of movement within the team. We’ve workshopped stories, angles, formats and even team structures. This took a while to get done, but we’re finally at a place where I can say, “Get ready. We’re here.”

    Why are we here?

Zikoko is dropping two new flagships this month: Hear Me Out and My Bro. Here’s why you should get excited.

Zikoko strives to be at the forefront of important conversations that should be talked about.

We do this by examining our lived experiences through humour, satire and compelling storytelling.

    Hear Me Out

This year, Ifoghale and Ibukun decided, “People, we have opinions. We’d like to put them out there as we’re thinking it [with editorial judgement of course].” And so, Hear Me Out was birthed.

Should the world let young people breathe? Should we adopt phone sex in all relationships? Do we need to reinvent politics? Hear Me Out will talk about all the stuff people might normally get dragged for, but with intelligence. The sheer range of topics that will be covered means that the stew will eventually reach everybody.

In the next three months, Ifoghale and Ibukun will try to convince you about the opinions they’ve formed through their experiences. Expect the drop every Saturday at 9 a.m. WAT.

Don’t tell those two I said this, but a personal favourite of mine is the My Bro column, which drops on Friday next week. And I’ll tell you why I’m feverish from malaria excitement.

    My Bro

The most the world knows about men’s relationships with other men is that everything gets sorted at a pub, surrounded by bottles of beer. But we’ve been in this game long enough to know that there’s a lot more to people and their relationships than is visible externally. So we brought a magnifying glass to show everyone what happens when two men are close to each other and actively try to make their relationships work.

My Bro is a series where two men talk about their friendships in a safe space. From April to June, each story will be up on our website, social media, newsletters or wherever you get your Zikoko goods at 12 p.m. WAT on Friday, biweekly.

P.S: In the next few months, our team of writers and editors are coming up with the most engaging stories about being a Nigerian in the world. We’re talking new formats, new content buckets, and new looks. What I’m trying to say is, we’ve spent months planning to bring the most relatable stories to you, so get ready for enjoyment.

With these few points of mine, I hope I’ve been able to convince… you know how the rest goes.

  • A Party with a Purpose! Johnnie Walker takes Island Block Party to Heights

A Party with a Purpose! Johnnie Walker takes Island Block Party to Heights

Johnnie Walker partnered with Island Block Party to host one of the highly anticipated events of the year. It was truly an unforgettable experience as they served us the perfect blend of music, whiskey and games.

Guests had fun engaging with the Johnnie Walker #NoLabels quote while making up their own quotes to spice up the fun. Others had fun with the live experiences on-ground from the face painting to the customized merch provided by some creatives.

With its theme – #PartyNotConcert, the hypemen and DJs kept the energy up as they thrilled guests with some of the chart-topping music. The climax of the event was when Victony, one of the most promising breakout acts of 2021, ditched his wheelchair to deliver some of his hit songs while standing on his two feet. It was a moment to behold.

Other performances which took our breath away were Focalistic giving us some of that Amapiano magic and Falz, dropping some of his comic skills along with his tracks. Johnnie Walker also had its bar on-ground with enough of its signature highball cocktails and Red Label Pocket Scotch to keep the crowd pumped up for the artist’s performances.

Guests had a fun-filled night and were super ready to party till the morning. No surprise there though! Anywhere you find Johnnie Walker, best believe the show never stops. This partnership encourages young creatives to freely express themselves and keep walking their paths irrespective of the negative labels thrown at them.

  • Where AFCON and EPL Meet

    Where AFCON and EPL Meet

The English Premier League (EPL) will be entering a decisive stage at the beginning of the next year. As the competition comes close to its end, every point is crucial. It’s even possible to have expectations about the champions and runner-ups already. Or is it? The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is also set to start at the beginning of the next year. It means that many players now moving the crowds in Europe will be called back home. What does it change for EPL’s fans?

    Overlaps

The AFCON will happen between early January and early February in Cameroon. About 40 players are expected to be called back, only in the EPL, where 15 teams will likely feel the blow. Among the hardest hit ones, Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, and Watford, losing four players each. Those players could miss one round of major European competitions, at best. Worst-case scenarios would see players off for four rounds or more. Other continental competitions, like the South American CONMEBOL or the Central American CONCACAF, will also cause an impact. Yet, the AFCON can shake the EPL. to Check the latest developments on the best football betting sites.

    Cameroon’s AFCON

The next AFCON will be played in Cameroon, although there are questions regarding its readiness for hosting the event. It has been postponed once already over safety and sanitary concerns. After a recent inspection visit, CAF’s authorities confirmed that the competition would run as scheduled.

    Names and Numbers

With top teams losing top players for a couple of rounds, everything can change in the EPL. Here’s how the teams will look for the next month or so. You can also follow the matter on the best premier league betting sites.

    Liverpool

Next month, The Reds will have to do without Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Naby Keita. Joel Matip won’t join them, as he’s out of international football already. Anyway, Salah and Mane will be sorely missed. Salah has scored 20 times only this season, and Mane, nine.

    Watford

The Hornets will see five top-tier players packing up next month. Nigeria is calling back. William Troost-Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis are responsible for more than ten goals over the last 14 matches. Louza and Masina will be playing for Morocco, while Sarr will defend Senegal. Such a blow can shift the odds to otherwise weaker teams, like Tottenham, Norwich, and West Ham.

    Crystal Palace

The Eagles are giving up four top players for the next month, namely Wilfried Zaha, Cheikou Kouyate, Jordan Ayew, and Jeffrey Schlupp. Crystal Palace is likely in for a rough month without players of equal level to put in their place.

    Leicester

Four top Leicester’s players are also on the line. Nampalys Mendy will be returning to Senegal and Wilfred Ndidi to Nigeria. Top scorers like Daniel Amartey, and Kelechi Iheanacho, will probably leave, too.

    Arsenal

Here’s another side losing almost half of its team. Ghana, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Gabon call Nicolas Pepe, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, Gunners’ fans believe that AFCON could revitalise their talents.

    Chelsea

The Blues are losing a tremendous goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, who’s defending Senegal next month. Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech is being called back to Morocco. Despite losing some of its best players, Chelsea can still replace Mendy with Kepa Arrizabalaga.

    Manchester City

The Citizens will be missing one of the world’s best players of the moment, Ryad Mahrez, who’ll be playing for Algeria. Yet, the club is so solid that such absence will barely make a difference. Manchester City has many attacking options of a comparable level. Additionally, they’ll face seriously dented teams, increasing their chances of the title.

    Reaction

English clubs have taken the matter to the superior stances of European football. Clubs are demanding guarantees of safety, and timely release of players, so that the competitions can have minimal overlap. In a letter to CAF, the European Club Association threatened not to release players if those conditions weren’t met. An excerpt of the letter reads that clubs shouldn’t be forced “to be without players for club competition matches”. The letter also questions the lack of medical protocols for the tournament, putting players at risk. There are fears that the country hasn’t improved its condition since the competition was last postponed. Yet, CAF’s and Cameroonian officials insist that the competition won’t be postponed again.

    Conclusion

Despite complaints and threats, African players probably won’t face major issues to defend their countries. Meanwhile, a lot can change in the English Premier League between January and February 2022.

Johnnie Walker Partners Mama Burna, Burna Boy in New “Keep Walking” Campaign

Nigerian youths are stepping forward in solidarity with Johnnie Walker’s newest campaign – ‘Keep Walking’, a movement to celebrate communities of creatives across Africa who, in their walks, exemplify its long-standing mantra. The campaign is launched in partnership with notable personalities, one of whom is the African Giant himself, Burna Boy.

Leading the pan-African campaign is a video which showcases an energetic and vibrant ‘Anthem’ that mirrors the trials of being non-conformist and forward-thinking, while addressing negative labels, and depicting the doggedness of the average Nigerian youth.

Johnnie Walker, in this Ad, highlights the resilience of the youth in defying labels and embracing Afro-optimism, while calling on them to step forward and keep walking. This is why we are not surprised that Burna is a major voice in this movement. It is quite clear that the adaptation of the global ‘Keep Walking’ movement is captured through the lenses of Burna’s own walks in the featured video. We also see the ‘Keep Walking’ representation in other stories from convention-defying, non-conformist, culture shapers across the creative space in a documentary titled – The Ones Who.

This pan-African documentary spotlights Nigerians like Emo afrobeats star, CKay; World-class Afrobeats dancer and singer, Yeni Kuti; Nigeria’s first skate crew community, Waffles and Cream; renowned fashion and documentary photographer, Stephen Tayo and Nigeria-American filmmaker, Amarachi Nwosu.

In addition, this movement allows you to celebrate and gift special individuals this festive season through Johnnie Walker’s mega gifting platform. The platform allows you carve out personalized messages to The Ones Who have inspired your walk and allows the whisky company join you on the journey to carve your own path.

For us, the entire campaign is an apt representation of the shoes we walk in and why ‘Keep Walking’ is created to put a spring in our step as we stake our claim, finding our own paths and building our own future to becoming a generation of giants. We don’t think there is a more powerful way to share this message. Stay engaged with Keep Walking, as Johnnie Walker, the world’s favourite whisky, unveils a diverse range of immersive experiences.

As part of the anniversary celebrations in Nigeria, a month-long celebratory campaign commenced this November with activities to excite and delight consumers across the country, most recent of which is the Share A Trip With Coke campaign.

This year, the Coca-Cola System in Nigeria, comprising Coca-Cola and its bottling partner, Nigerian Bottling Company, celebrates its 70th anniversary and for the leading beverage company, such a momentous occasion is an indication of decades of commitment to its consumers and the communities it calls home. It’s no surprise that 70 years after the very first refreshing taste of Coca-Cola was bottled in 1951, the company continues to deliver on its brand promise, driving smiles and inspiring moments of optimism across generations of Nigerians.

The Share A Trip With Coke campaign sought to ultimately share heartwarming and magical experiences with Nigerians across different demographics. Coca-Cola branded buses were on major bus routes in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Port-Harcourt – treating Nigerians to free rides, the refreshing taste of the Coca-Cola beverages, and also an assortment of branded merchandise.

Excited consumers were greeted with a full array of cultural displays which included traditionally dressed hostesses, drummers with their traditional talking drums doling out rhythmic beats and of course, a standard safety checkup entry point. Consumers were thrilled at the scintillating display and in turn, responded with warm smiles and joyous dance routines.

The Coca-Cola System’s anniversary celebration this year tells a vivid story of an illustrious history of cultural connections and shared experiences between the Coca-Cola System and the Nigerian people; a story that embodies how consumer trust goes beyond a bottle of Coca-Cola, down to the very ideals that Coca-Cola represents.

The company’s colourful history of refreshing the world is reiterated in its new global brand philosophy and platform called ‘Real Magic’, which invites everyone to celebrate the real magic of humanity. Crowdyvest Limited, a fast rising Nigerian fintech company which creates an all-encompassing financial solution from savings to investment, has re-launched its mobile app with new investment opportunities.

Currently available on the Apple and Google Playstore, the newly re-launched Crowdyvest mobile app has a very neat user interface which is easy on the eye, with both mobile and desktop versions showing no major difference. The funding process on the app is hassle-free and the app is also very easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile to deliver a seamless and enjoyable experience for its existing and prospective users. Speaking on the revamped mobile app, Tope Omotolani, CEO of Crowdyvest said “We aim to become the platform that helps our members plan and structure their finances through the different range of products we offer.

“As we work with organizations in different sectors to power viable and impact-driven projects through the funds we raise from our members, a symbiotic interdependence is created, leading to financial and economic growth for all. We believe this partnership is needed to foster growth and create more opportunities for Africa.”

The re-launched app has introduced a couple of new financial products which include the Crowdyvest Yield. The old app had only the Vault, pace and flex Savings products, Hyperplan investment product and Crowdyvest Tribe, a platform built on the foundation of community-driven savings and wealth creation, to drive collectivity and foster growth for individuals and businesses but the revamped version has not only included additional products, it has also grouped all Crowdyvest investment offers under one segment known as Crowdyvest Yield.

Crowdyvest Yield is a catalog of alternative offers that include commodity-specific projects and discretionary plans available to members ranging from short to long term tenors across a wide range of sectors. It consists of the HyperPlan – an impact-driven funding opportunity where users/investors can earn as much as 21% returns on investment, Project investment which is an alternative investment and commodity-specific type of offer in different sectors, in partnership with pre-vetted impact partners and many more. You can earn as much as 25% returns on project investments.

This new distinction will provide Crowdyvest users a variety of suitable plans to choose from as they build a savings and investment culture based entirely on their capability with product prices as low as ₦1,000 and returns up to 25% per annum. They also have a wallet that gives up to 3% interest per annum. You can share funds from your Wallet with friends and family who are Crowdyvest members, at no charge at all.

    How It Works

On launching the Crowdyvest app you’re taken straight to the log-in/sign-up page where you’re expected to create a new account as a new user or log-in as a returning one. Once you click on the “create one” option, you’re instructed to choose between creating an individual or business account. The user is then instructed to fill in basic details like name, surname, password, username, email address, phone number, gender, date of birth and in the case of a business account information like business name, business date of birth is also required.

You will then be required to verify your account with a passcode sent to your mail. Once this is done, your Crowdyvest account is ready for use. You will however be instructed to fill in your bank details and create a 6 digit security PIN to carry out any financial transaction. Once you type in the name of your bank and account number, the name attached to that bank account (which is your full name) shows up. Your BVN is also required. This takes less than 5 seconds to be verified by the app. You are then required to create a 6 digit security PIN to complete transactions. Once the PIN is created, a passcode is sent to your mail to authenticate it and you’re now fully ready to use the Crowdyvest mobile app.

    How To Navigate The App

Having done the necessary registrations, the account is now ready for use. On the homepage there is a column on the right of the screen with several icons on how to use the app. It includes: the homepage, portfolio, savings (vault, pace and flex), yields (hyperplan, project, etc.), deals and offers, transactions and profile icons through which new users can easily navigate their way through the app. The entire process takes less than 7 minutes, after which you can begin your journey to financial freedom via a seamless and hassle free online banking experience.

  • Stanbic IBTC Encourages Investors With Zero Balance Stock Trading Entry Requirement

Stanbic IBTC Encourages Investors With Zero Balance Stock Trading Entry Requirement

Investments in stocks are usually for the long term. It is a financial strategy capable of building generational wealth as it yields returns for investors whilst providing them with financial security. The profitability of this investment type is hinged on its ability to compound returns over time.

Despite the profitability potential of this market for investors and the Nigerian economy, the capital market requirements in the past have somewhat discouraged a lot of new and younger investors. It is agreed that High Networth Individuals with large portfolios generally dominate the stock market. Still, in recent times there has been an increasing need to attract millennials. This desire within the capital market to include and accommodate new and young investors is centred around the growing millennial population and the need to build the nation’s wealth. Also, the rapid rise of digitisation in Nigeria has influenced a change in the stock market outlook and requirements, especially in terms of its volume and minimum entry requirement. The digitisation of the capital market will enhance the potential to attract a new generation of investors.

To facilitate this development and enable potential investors access this investment opportunity, Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers has removed the minimum account opening balance for investors to operate a stockbroking account, especially in the wake of the performance of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) in 2020 and renewed global interest in security investments.

  • oraimo FreePods 3 – Perfect Environmental Noise Cancellation In Speech Mode Are Now A Thing!

oraimo FreePods 3 – Perfect Environmental Noise Cancellation In Speech Mode Are Now A Thing!

In today’s world, Earbuds have become way more than high quality listening accessories meant for music alone, they’ve become lifestyle gadgets that play important roles in every aspect of our lives.

AirPods form an input in our fashion; we sometimes wear them to complement our outfit and make a fashion statement without necessarily using them to listen to music whilst on the go. And why wouldn’t we? Honestly, they look really cool in all the shades in which they come. In many cases, they’re also a major part of our gym, work, yoga, and relaxation kit. The importance of this smart accessory now transcends the traditional use scenarios and having to live without them could sometimes feel like torture. Earbuds have seen massive improvement since they first surfaced.

Despite this, smart accessory makers are still working hard to ensure that they keep switching things up to give consumers a better experience year after year, and oraimo has been at the fore front of this movement.

Everyone’s raving about the new noise cancellation feature

oraimo recently launched the FreePods 3 and the acceptance from Nigerians has been mind-blowing. One major feature on this new release that has got many people talking is the environmental noise cancellation feature. What is ENC ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) is a popular earbud feature, responsible for blocking out external noise to ensure that users have the clearest and richest voice call experience when they have their earbuds on and are in call mode.

However, oraimo has taken its noise cancellation offering a notch higher with the new FreePods 3. Joining conference calls with clients and teammates whilst stuck in a gridlock traffic in Lagos could be a nightmare. Even with glasses wound up, you can never guarantee that you can keep the bellowing voices of Lagos conductors from slipping into your meeting as soon as you switch on your mic. It’s the same thing with having to speak with your mum or a loved one and give them a progress report on how your day has been. However, with the new FreePods 3, all of that is changing swiftly. This time, oraimo has configured the Environmental Noise Cancellation(ENC) feature to kick into action automatically when you’re in speaking mode.

For sound, oraimo has introduced an all-new exclusive sound technology called HavyBass, the oraimo exclusive bass boost system, which will be applied in oraimo audio products. They have collaborated with world class audio engineers who used to work in Harman Kardon, to deliver the best sound quality. Conscious of the fact that Africans like bass, they have also made the 2baba tuned version great for afrobeat.

What does this mean for you, you ask? No more unwanted sounds sipping into your audio conference work calls or checkup calls to mum or bae.

    Like face-to-face conversation

Have a feel of being in the same space with whoever is on the other side of the call. The FreePods 3 comes with 4-mic beamforming technology to track and provide high-quality voice signal. It also uses an AI Deep Neural Network algorithm to reduce surrounding noise. oraimo gives so much more While other recently released AirPods have recorded success in the water resistance department, many have nimbly ignored the area of noise cancellation is speech mode. oraimo’s focus and success on this major point of concern for many users reaffirms the brands innovative, problem-solving and leadership ethos. oraimo provides its users with high level tech gadgets at a fraction of the cost of other competing products without compromising on quality.

You can purchase the oraimo FreePods 3 from the oraimo official website https

  • Zikoko Daily Newsletter: The Relaunch

    Zikoko Daily Newsletter: The Relaunch

    A complete visual redesign.

    Exclusive inside gist.

    New content.

The ability to send in submissions.

Guaranteed to make hours in traffic feel like hours in traffic, but this time, you’ll be smiling like someone who’s just found love.

This is the new Zikoko Daily.

Still here? Then let’s get into it!

A while ago, we realised we could improve our current newsletter structure, aesthetics, and content plan. So we went ahead and did just that.

    Go on…

Here at Zikoko HQ, our slack channels can get pretty wild. As one writer is dropping new ideas, someone else is asking for quick feedback. While one writer is battling principalities and powers (usually in the form of slow internet) to get a piece published. our editorial ogas are asking the important questions like, “Have we reminded our readers that they’re violently single?”, “Have we asked them what kind of jollof they are?” Here’s one of such situations:

Image of Kunle asking for ideas on a slack channel
    It started innocently enough
Image of zikoko's writers throwing ideas in response to Kunle's question.
    And then this happened.

This is how our flagship series Naira Life, Love Life, So You Don’t Have To, Abroad Life, What She Said, Interview WIth, Man Like, and others were born. From the outside, it might seem like we’re simply chaotic AF, and honestly, we are.

    Zikoko 🤝 Ment

But there’s a lot of thought, planning, experimenting, iterating, and scheduling that goes into the articles we publish. And all this is so you can read them and say, “OMG, Zikoko is so great.”

    That’s right.

    Oya get to the point

We’re excited to be launching the new Zikoko Daily. Whew. We’ve been wanting to say that for a hot minute now.

So what’s new with Zikoko Daily?

    1. A new visual design

We figured that if we were going to deliver premium content to you, the newsletter needs to look and feel great, like Fan Yogo on a hot Sunday in March. To make it easier for you to find the Zikoko content you love, we’ve grouped the content into neat cards. Check it out!

    2. Exclusive content

Starting *checks time*, now, Zikoko Daily will feature content that will only live in your inbox. Kinda like a behind the scenes peek at how your favourite stories come together. Who is shaving their heads at the office, what weird concoction Kunle is assembling in the name of dinner, etc.

We’ll also be launching a column where you’ll be able to send in submissions that’ll feature in the newsletter. Hint: this one’s about love. So get your stories ready.

Let’s take a break to hear from our two sponsors and resident struggling artists, Ignis Brothers: Dwin (Editor-in-Chief at Zikoko) and Ruka (Managing Editor at Zikoko).

“Let’s get straight to the point. Zikoko writers are always causing trouble with their stories, but how are they doing it? To be honest, we have no secrets. We are an open book. But if, perhaps, we did have secrets, that’s the kind of information we’d only reveal to our Z! Daily family. Question now is, are you part of the family yet?”- Dwin

“Love and subscribe to the newsletter or ELSE” – Ruka

    Cute. Back to regular programming.

    3. Throwbacks

Unlike your ex who keeps leaving you on read, we’re willing to take you back. We’ll be hitting you with throwbacks of some of our old stuff. It’s not today we started making banging stuff.

So that’s it — for now. It’s not the latest iPhone announcement, but you will be able to win some very cool things when we launch our newsletter referral system in the coming months. It only gets better from here.

    What next?

Well, it’s a date. See you in your inbox. *blows powder*.

  • Oraimo The Trail Blazer Is Not Your Regular Smart Accessory Brand!

Oraimo The Trail Blazer Is Not Your Regular Smart Accessory Brand!

For many years, Nigerians have had a sustained beef with locally made smart accessories, most especially earbuds. They’re like the real Yoruba demons and I for one have loathed that. Let me draw the adjoining line between both. They come in different colors looking all shiny and eye-catching, start by making you enjoy every moment with them until they break your heart into a million sorry pieces and hand them over to you.

This experience had scarred many Nigerians until a new player came on board with just enough game to change the entire narrative and turn our gloomy faces into brightly smiling ones.

oraimo isn’t just one of the lifestyle smart brands but a vanguard in the tech space here in Nigeria. The brand has over the years ardently solidified itself as a smart and tech-leading, quality and value providing brand for its consumers. oraimo first became popular for its durable charging bricks and chords. The quality experience that users enjoyed using this product made them willing to explore other products introduced by the brand. Interestingly, oraimo was able to replicate the same experience across its other line of products including power banks, headphones, and its FreePods.

With all observations thus far, there’s safety in saying it’s visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that oraimo is firmly positioned to ultimately have the consumers’ interest and satisfaction at her core and has made providing smart accessories to aid users’ lifestyle pivotal and key to her functions.

According to recent updates from industry tipsters, she prepares to add a new and rainbow-like feather to the cap of honor and excellence she’s already adorned with. Speculations suggest that on September 28, the new oraimo FreePods 3 will be launched to the market. The brand is however yet to comment on the validity of this information. There’s been various speculations that’s taken over the consumers’ space and general conversations around the features of the incoming product. Several persons claim to have the features all figured up by looking at the excellence and value of the FreePods 2, thus speculating that some more additions will come to that feature.

Oraimo is a pacesetter and trail blazer in the mobile accessory industry, and it’s been overtime proven by the milestones she has achieved so far by heightening the value and quality of smart accessories provided to consumers. The awards recently won by the brands are only proofs and ceremonious validations of the quality and tech innovations that characterizes oraimo products.

So far by heightening the value and quality of smart accessories provided to consumers. The awards recently won by the brands are only proofs and ceremonious validations of the quality and tech innovations that characterizes oraimo products.

    These awards include:

    1. National award for the most outstanding quality mobile electronics trading and Distribution Company of the year.
    2. Nigeria’s best world class quality phone accessories Product Company of the year 2021.
    3. Africa’s most innovative mobile product company in support of FINTECH services brand of the year.

Record has it that oraimo has sold over one hundred million products, the tentacles of her influence and value adding system that garnered those massive sales spreads beyond the borders of Nigeria to take over the tech and smart accessory market of more than fifty countries.

Product Innovations based on consumer insight has been a major force that energizes oraimo’s strategy. In a market where lasting power has become a priority for consumers, oraimo has ensured that all of her products cater to this pressing need. Thus, meeting and surpassing the previously existing demands of the consumers and proffering solutions to smart accessory problems has so far been made easy by oraimo.

For one, oraimo’s power bank can last over years and has enjoyed word of mouth publicity from many customers. The brand was also the first to launch a True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbud in the market. The FreePods 2 is unique and tuned by the legendary 2baba himself, which makes it revolutionary. Listening with the FreePods 2 gives the guaranty of a rich balance of base and tenor all through the lifespan of the bud. The device comes with a 13mm massive speaker and deep bass, pro-sound quality with affordable price, dust and waterproof and Long battery for consumer needs.

Despite all these consumer durable, quality, and innovative satisfying products, oraimo has made available to the market at affordable prices, oraimo isn’t relenting nor relaxing from taking quantum leaps.

TECNOxBBNaija: Team Xcellent Wins The Day

It was yet another Thursday games night on the BBNaija Season 6 show with TECNO and it was a very creative one. As you know, TECNO has been on the Season 6 journey with the housemates since it began and they have not disappointed. With the TECNO Phantom X dolling out incredible pictures of the housemates, who wouldn’t want them to be part of something huge.

As always, the Head of House read the instructions of the task to the housemates and they were excited by what they heard. The task was very unique to the brand as the star of the show was the TECNO Phantom X. The housemates were to create a colorful, exciting and engaging product story with the Phantom X as the main focus.

To achieve the day’s task, the housemates were divided into 4 groups beginning with the Unique Letter X. They were grouped into:

Team Xcellent: Emmanuel, Jackie B, Jaypaul.

    Team Xceptional: Angel, Saskay, Nini.

Team Xclusive: Queen, Whitemoney, Liquorose, Yousef.

The task was in two-folds, photos and videos. The Phantom X smartphone was used as props during the shoot and also as the main tool, with the housemates adding a bit of flavor to the mix.

Dressed in their assigned costumes the housemates were tasked to create an exciting product story that reflected the themes of their costumes, while spotlighting the features of the device. It was really beautiful to see the contestants tap into their inner creativity and create beautiful videos with the TECNO Phantom X.

After much deliberation, Team Xcellent claimed the victory, as the best team to create colorful and engaging videos with the TECNO Phantom X. And their reward was a cool whopping sum of 1.5million Naira to be shared among the winners. With all the work they put in, they deserved to be rewarded.

Once done with the videos, the teams settled in to edit their video footages and images into one major product video per team, after which they had to wait painstakingly as their fates were decided.

But the excitement was not done with yet. TECNO had another surprise up their sleeves for their online audience. Fans were asked to vote for the housemate deserving of the title of ‘TECNO Phantom Star’. At the end of the voting period, the housemates with the highest votes, Whitemoney and Liquorose, were rewarded with the sum of 200,000 Naira each. It was truly a night of rewards for creative talents.

It was an all-out fun time with the task and we can’t wait to see what Big Brother will throw at us on subsequent task days
