Defying Odds, Inspiring Greatness: The Future Awards Africa Honours Young Africans in Dazzling Fashion

The Future Awards Africa has celebrated its 17th award ceremony with dazzling spotlights, intriguing personalities, and odds-defying stories. Described as the “Nobel Prize for Young Africans” by the World Bank, the three-day event tagged “Defying Odds, Inspiring Greatness” celebrated young Africans who have continued to blaze the trail across various fields, including governance, agriculture, and arts.

Kicking off with the Future Conference on Friday, the 20th of October, the event smoothly sailed to the Nominees Gala on Saturday, the 21st of October, before finally rounding up the ceremony with a bedazzling award night that saw many young leaders converge at the Balmoral Convention Center in Victoria Island,  Lagos hosted by the incredible actors and media personalities James Gardiner and Victoria Adeyele popularly known as Veeiye.

This year, with 25 categories and more than 134 nominees, the Future Awards sought to tell young Africans’ beautiful, successful stories that have impacted their immediate communities and driven the African continent to global prominence. Sponsored by major brands such as GAC motors, African Development Center, Microsoft, Stability and Sustenance, Maggi, Duo, Top Tea, Heineken, Zagg, Desperados, smoov, and many other top-notch brands to make the award ceremony an unforgettable experience, the award ceremony celebrated many Africans across various categories with a glamorous finale.

Speaking on the purpose and impact of the event, Ayodeji Razaq, the CEO of Red | For Africa, stated: “It gives me great joy to know that this dream that began many years ago has become one of the prominent awards for Young Africans. Understanding the various challenges that this demographic continues to face, we must recognise those who have broken beyond the stereotypes to make a name for themselves. This serves two purposes: it gives credit to whom credit is due, but more than that, it fosters hope and faith in the future of the African continent. The Future Awards showcase to the world the prospects of Africa as a whole and encourages those who still dream of impacting their community.”

The CEO, highlighting the importance of partnerships in ensuring the success of the Award ceremony, also stated: “Indeed, the success of this event is a testament to the essence of partnerships. Creating a platform where young Africans are celebrated was not a dream that could have been undertaken by one group. From our media partners to our sponsors, we are extremely grateful that we could pull off an event of such magnitude. We appreciate Alpha & Jam, Zikoko, Africa Magic, MTV Base, Ynaija, Olori super gal, Lagos talks, brand communicator, infonerds, unilag FM, Young and Cerebral, and many other brands that collaborated on this project. To our various sponsors, we are truly grateful that their efforts culminated in a night of awesomeness, celebration, and fun!”
