I want to report the Afro Nation people to you. I was very excited when I learned they were bringing the festival to Nigeria. A few friends went to Afro Nation Ghana last year, and they had the time of their lives.

It was supposed to be my turn to see what the hype was about this year. But I’m not sure anymore after seeing the ticket prices last week. The cheapest ticket (yet) costs ₦‎228k. This same amount will get you about 380 litres of fuel. Omo, there is internet and YouTube at home.

This 33-year-old started his career in transportation as a wheel barrow pusher in 2001. Since then, he’s gone from okada rider to personal driver and more. In 2019, he joined the e-hailing market, making up to ₦60k/week until the recent fuel subsidy removal that’s put him in debt.
