The Origin: Madam Koi Koi | Zikoko!
  • We Ranked “The Origin: Madam Koi-Koi” Characters From Wicked to Just Plain Stupid

If you spent the entire three hours and eight minutes of this two-part film yelling at all the characters except Madam Koi-Koi herself, we see you, and we feel you.

We decided to rank these characters from wicked to air-head, but beware, there are spoilers ahead.

While half the characters were dripping in pure wickedness, the other half had their brains on pause to let an unknown force pull them to make foolish decisions because, why didn’t Amanda just leave the village the moment they realised she was the one who woke Madam Koi-Koi up?

    Bolu

When we said some people were working and dripping in wickedness, we meant this man. He entered the scene, and you could just tell he was bad news, from the way he walked to his smile. A wicked man through and through because that’s the only reason why he’d be stalk forests in the dark looking for victims.

    Wickedness ranking: 10

He’s as wicked as the Lagos sun on a random Sunday, which is why Madam Koi-Koi made an example of him.

    Lashe

Not only was the boy incredibly entitled, but he made sure to throw a little wickedness in there as well. We’d blame Mother Superior, but it’s clear Lashe would’ve still acted a fool all on his own.

    Wickedness ranking: 9

A very bad mixture of wickedness and stupidity.

    Mother Superior

Someone somewhere came up with the not-so-brilliant idea to put this woman in charge of other people’s children, and to that, we say congratulations. Congratulations to Mother Superiority Complex, and sorry to the students and their parents because your education might be good, but her and her silly cane would have you in a perpetual state of fear.

    Wickedness ranking: 8

Wicked like Patience Ozokwor in an old Nollywood movie. It didn’t matter who or what you were, if you stood in her way, she’d find ways to take you out or bend you to submission.

    Ige

He creeped around, obeying Mother Superior and her orders. No doubt, this made him a good employee, but it also made him an incredibly foolish person because would he have put his hands in a pot of boiling sugar if she asked him to?

    Wickedness ranking: 6.5

He liked to hide behind Mother Superior, and in the end, died for her. Nothing more wickedly foolish than that.

    Inspector Oscar

All the man had to do was leave secondary school girls alone and follow his age mates. If he had done just that, perhaps Madam Koi-Koi wouldn’t have found him to slaughter.

    Wickedness ranking: 5

Not only was he a wicked paedophile, but he was also incredibly stupid.

    Omolewa

This woman ignored her daughter’s pleas and left her in that school for Madam Koi-Koi to see. It’s not wickedness, but it’s definitely stupidity.

    Wickedness ranking: 2

    Inspector Theophilus

We understand he was just trying to do his job, but common sense says if a supernatural being is killing people left, right and centre, you pack up your bags and leave the place. Also, why leave your partner in a secondary school when he’s shown clear signs of paedophilic intentions?

    Wickedness ranking: 2

He should’ve left Malomo the moment he saw the first creepy-looking dead body.

    Edna

The only wicked thing she did was lie to Omolewa that the school was good when she knew Mother Superior walked the halls terrifying all the students with her wickedness.

    Wickedness ranking: 1

She wasn’t stupid, but she wasn’t particularly smart either.

  • QUIZ: Which “The Origin: Madam Koi-Koi” Character Are You?

  • The Legend of Madam Koi Koi is Coming Soon to the Screens

For the people who don’t know, Madam Koi Koi is an African urban legend. If you like, you can also call her an imaginary ghost who comes out at night to terrorise hallways and dormitories in boarding schools. It’s said that her brand is unmistakable: she wears a pair of red shoes or just one heel.

This year, Nollywood is bringing back this feared ghost of the past, but in a cinematic way. Although some people will find out about Madam Koi Koi for the first time, this picture might provide answers to the scary narratives that have circulated for years.

So far, this is everything to know about Nollywood’s Madam Koi Koi project.

    The Origin: Madam Koi Koi

From the title of this picture, The Origin: Madam Koi Koi, we’ll likely see how Koi Koi came to be what she is. We have no doubt this is a horror flick though.

It is produced by Display Universal and Marturion Media

Display Universal is under the leadership of Nigerian filmmaker and author Jay Franklyn Jituboh.

While Display Universal may not be a popular name yet, they’re the production team behind the new African Magic original, Direct Message. Moreover, the company’s sound department handled the sound design of the Nigerian TV show, Blood Sister.

Marturion Media is an entertainment content production company headed by Nigerian filmmaker Michael. W. Ndiomu.

Also, The Origin: Madam Koi Koi will be distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.

    Franklyn and Boladale

The story of The Origin: Madam Koi Koi was written (and also directed) by Jay Franklyn Jituboh (Keeping Up, Caught), and Boladale Falola (She, Mr. and Mrs. A), the head writer at Display Universal.

    Set in the 1990s

From the images Display Universal posted on their IG page, The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is set sometime in the 1990s. If we take the cue and go by the hashtag, #Malomo1991, that follows all the Madam Koi Koi film posts on Display Universal and Jay Franklyn’s IG pages — the events likely happened in the year 1991. We don’t know if “Malomo” is a person or town’s name, but we shall find out when the film comes out.

    Cast members
